[1970] Removing a beached whale with explosives sounds like a bad idea, but what do I know?

This app (which predates most gen Al and has since been removed from all digital storefronts) supposedly let you talk to a"single, 26 year old girl." If it sounds like a scam, that's because it probably was, but it might go slightly deeper than that.

I first found this app while browsing through iTunes charts. (It’s a great way to find obscure apps, you should try it sometime.) Upon noticing the nature of this app, I immediately became concerned and mildly disturbed as well. An app from before generative AI became widespread that supposedly let you talk to a “single, 26 year old girl who created this app to meet people.” The lack of reviews and existence of “credits” was something I found particularly intriguing.

For my own sake I decided not to buy the app despite the cheap price tag. Before the app’s page was taken down I remember its developer had mostly made apps that claimed to let you to directly talk to people. However, those were centered around multiple people (the only one I remember in particular was a group of psychics.) There‘s a website for a company known as “Coresystem“ that seems to have made the app, but their website was very barebones and gave no further info, though I do admit to not looking through it thoroughly.

In the description of the app was a link which led to a website, which remains up to this day. (www.elodiemobile.com) a FaceBook page and an email address, which I chose not to interact with. On the website is a couple of screenshots, and perhaps most concerning of all: a video. The bizarrely shot and edited video, which happens to be very erotic as well consists of this “single 26 year old girl” writhing around in lingerie.

The woman in the video appears to be the same woman in the app’s promotional material, and in the comments of the video are two people who bought the app and apparently managed to talk with “Elodie.” I’ll focus on the user in images four and five due to him having a particularly long response. In his first comment, which is very, very angry, he talks about Elodie not showing him nearly the amount of love he shows her. He then replies to his own comment saying that Elodie is “just a scammer who tries to take your money” which is probably very obvious to anyone reading this by now. People don’t tend to stay 26 forever.

But despite all this info, I still have a lot of unanswered questions. For example: “Who could have possible handled the messaging portion of this app?” “How could this unsuccessful developer afford to pay them?” “Who is the woman featured in the video and the images?” I posted this previously elsewhere and got no answers, then I forgot about it, and now that I’ve remembered its existence the app is gone. I guess the only thing I can really say here is ”Please help me find answers.”

Edit: Now I’m wondering, can anyone figure out where the video was filmed? Is it even possible to figure that out?

I think there’s something to see here…

Out of curiosity I went to the web address ”beni.com” and this is what came up.

The waterparks are in rough shape

Most of them rarely get additions, a lot of stuff gets removed and never really replaced, and usually there's at least one ride that's still on the website but clearly hasn't operated in years. Beyond that they're just not that well run in general.

Out of the one's I've been to the worst offender by far is at Great Escape. I'm hopeful that Enchanted Parks will fix the place up, but under Six Flags it's been pretty much completely run into the ground. There's a duo of tube slides and a trapdoor slide that have been SBNO since, like, 2022 and lately the bowl slide appears to have also entered operational limbo. At the front of the park there's a trio of tube slides which have horrendous operations. They quickly amass a wait of over an hour despite the small size of Great Escape.

Then at Great Adventure, the only thing they've gotten in over a decade is a kids area and a Polin Half Pipe which has been gone for years now... without a replacement. The mat slides are SBNO. At New England operations are poor, and there's both a water coaster and a trapdoor slide complex that closed without warning. While both eventually did get removed from the website, and the process of the trapdoor slide's actual removal has begun, IIRC the water coaster still sits SBNO to this day, and has been doing so for years. Expansion as always has not been seen in a long time.

And those are just the ones I've frequented. Look around the chain and this kind of thing happens at nearly every waterpark. Is there a reason for this?

Any musicians here with Tourette’s Syndrome?

I’ve been learning piano for years, but I've never really gotten that far. Practicing while being affected by tics has been very difficult and sometimes painful for me. I’ve always been trying to find more motivation to practice, so can any fellow Tourette’s afflicted musicians here tell me about their experiences?

[Anandi Magic World Water Park] RCDB blessed me with this thing. That is probably the most circular loop on any coaster.

I know it’s extremely unlikely anyone knows anything else about this coaster, but I really wish there were means of finding out how the hell this got made.

Could someone recommend an album to make my friend avoid Zappa forever?

During one of my daily listens to Gas Mask, my friend asked me what I was listening to. I told him I was listening to Frank Zappa, and then he told me that he was trying to get into him and that he would like recommendation. This is a huge problem, because we clearly can't have normie newgens like him invading our community. What's an album I can send him that will scare him off from listening to more Zappa?

60 years ago today, the world was introduced to Frank Zappa and the Mothers.

On June 27, 1966, Freak Out was released. A truly great album and the first of many truly great albums.

[Other] Theme Park Crazy second channel?

Theme Park Crazy is a coaster YouTube channel I’ve been watching for years, and sometimes he mentions his second channel. But this second channel isn’t linked on his profile and I haven’t found it after searching. I remember going there previously, but I can’t remember what it was called. Can anyone find his second channel for me, assuming it exists and I’m not misremembering?

[TOMT] ~2010s, ridiculous underage drinking PSA

Way back in Middle school my health class teacher used to show us all a bunch of videos about what one would probably expect school to be against (nicotine, illegal drugs and in this case underage drinking.) Obviously none of these videos were “good,” but this particular one stood out as so absurd that I still think about it nearly every day.

It was in live-action, it was posted on Vimeo and it was about 10 minutes long. So I guess it was more of a short film than anything. It was also clearly no-budget, as if it was made by fellow schoolchildren. (looking back, it probably was.)

I remember pretty much the entire story beat-for-beat:

There’s these two female friends who are in the middle of high school, probably about 16-17. Among other things like shopping or talking about boys, these girls were into underage drinking. Everyone around them is into it as well, so one of them decides to host a party with loads of alcohol.

And where is she deciding to host this party of her’s? Her house. Is she hosting it when her parents aren’t home? No. How will she acquire the alcohol? Asking Dad to buy it. And he instantly obliges! Now all of these teenagers have a full bar liquor at their disposal.

Some time passes and this big underage drinking party begins. I remember it being shot in a way that would look awesome to someone who has no idea what a party looks like or what the substance known as alcohol is, but lame as hell to literally anyone else. The party-hosting girl and her friend take a bunch of shots and eventually the party‘s over.

After the party her friend feels sick from all the shots of moonshine everyone had (that’s an exaggeration, I think it was tequila or something) and throws up on the lawn. Because of this, the two girls decide to sleep on lawn chairs in the backyard for some reason. Before they go to sleep, the one who didn’t throw up (who is also the one who hosted the party, just to clarify) tells the friend who threw up that, and this is hopefully an exact quote “In the morning, we’ll go shopping.” As one does, of course.

But when the hostess wakes up her friend is fucking dead, presumably of underagedrinkingitis. She’s shocked and horrified, and then her mother and father (who, mind you, is partially responsible) come out feeling similar things. Then out of nowhere the police come out and they arrest everybody. If I remember correctly there was also an epilogue in which daughter, mother and father were shown to have been sentenced to decades in prison, just as one last attempt to scare people off from having crappy film elective parties.

That’s about it, please help me find this… thing.

Haven’t We Met - Kenny Rankin

Brilliant musician whose work has mostly been out of print and off streaming after he died in 2009. As far as I know his family has been trying to get it back into circulation, but this has only worked for a few albums and songs.
