LDN, sibo, and visceral hypersensitivity pain

Ever since I did my treatment for methane dominant sibo during antibiotic treatment I became in severe excruciating pain, it landed me in the er and when I saw my pcp she put me on nortritplyine 10 mg, I’ve been on it for 5 weeks now I wanna say I started July 15th and I go to pain management tomorrow, my pain was starting to ease up and it was still there but it was alright, today I had a huge spike in pain , I’m not constipated, and I just want this pain to go away for good.. I see a pain management specialist tomorrow for the first time and I keep seeing LDN helped alot of people, if anyone who has visceral hypersensitivity has any advice for me whether it be supplements, prescriptions etc please give it I want my old life back, I’m starting to feel like these stomach issues are permanent and “pain free” isn’t a thing :(..

I think I’m driving myself insane

I did antibiotic treatment 6 weeks ago for methane dominant sibo and it put me in so much severe pain, I could barely eat, I couldn’t stay up, I was in so much pain I had to go to the er which to no surprise couldn’t do anything, nothing was helping my pain, antispasmodics, OTC options, Tylenol, even a damn narcotic that the er gave me (tramadol) . 6 weeks later (now) I’m still having pain but has lessened because I started Nortriptlyine at a low dose. I’m constantly fatigued, I’m tired of fighting my own body, I miss being pain free it’s been 5 months of these stomach issues and the only relieved I’ve gotten was when I practically forced myself to go on a trip to see my long distance boyfriend because I was so determined to see him, I had pain there but I also had moments where I was pain free and it felt amazing. When I got home I practically felt I was at square 1 again, I had a repeat breath test yesterday and I can’t stop stressing because if it’s positive I don’t want to do treatment again, I’m genuinely terrified of how I was bedridden in severe pain and screaming and crying. I can’t do it again. I’ve been trying to find my root cause of sibo and it’s so stressful because it’s a multi cause thing, I know motility is one of the big major ones and I plan to start ginger + artichoke supplements because I tried Motegrity and it put me in way to much pain, I don’t know if I have leaky gut and everyone keeps telling me “oh if you don’t get a gi map test then you’ll never know what’s wrong and you’ll just suffer” and it puts me under more and more stress because I can’t afford a functional medicine doctor at all. I feel so tired and stressed to a point this is making me wonder if I’ll ever be normal again or if I’ll just be a test subject to more and more tests at my doctors offices or if I’ll even ever find my root cause or I’ll be stuck this miserable for years. I’m genuinely at an edge where I feel like this is all to complicated and I don’t even know what to do. Even if my sibo is gone I most likely have months or even years of gut damage to fix and I don’t even know what to fix other then my motility. Low fodmap diets did nothing but make me more miserable and made me practically avoid food if anything , I miss my old life and don’t wanna think I’m stuck like this..

For those who have had or even have sibo did you end up with visceral hypersensitivity after treatment? If so, how did you mange to get it to lower /go away? I don’t know how much longer I can do this for :(

Self explanatory title but during my treatment for sibo my pain got worse and I’ve tried so many medications and had so many er trips such as gabapentin, antispasmodics, iberogast, teas, and now I’m taking nortriptlyine 10 mg for 3 weeks. I’m so tired and feel like my life is being ripped away from me and I just want to feel normal again. I’ve missed so much school cause of this.

How can I check if my apartment has a mold issue??

I have chronic gut pain and lots and lots of negative testing and have sibo that reoccurs, I don’t know if mold would necessarily cause this but I’ve lost so much life from this I’m willing to check for anything. And if my apartment did have mold then what??? Would I have to throw away everything I have??? How would I get rid of it?

I leave to go back to my state in 2 days after being with my long distance bf in person for the second time. What should I do these last 2 days? 🥲

I cried like a baby the entire time til I boarded my plane last time and I cried to him last night about having to leave again. I hate distance and just want us to live together so much. He’s the most handsome most kindhearted, most lovely boy I’ve ever dated. I have chronic pain issues and when we’re in person he does so amazing at taking care of me, back massages, scratches, feeding me light foods etc that I can’t do. I don’t wanna go back to being distant again :(

I hate when people say and do shit like this

I’ll tell someone I have stomach issues that are debilitating at times to the point I’m screaming on the floor and they’ll just go “oh ! I have tummy issues too especially after eating spicy foods Ik how you feel” no no you fucking don’t.

For those with chronic pain, how do you feel about religions? Does it bring you any comfort? Does it make you feel angry?

(Please be respectful to one another , this is a simply a question I have for those who struggle with chronic pain and I’d like to know if religion makes them bring any comfort or brings them to feel worse, everyone is different and I wanted to hear everyone’s views.)

How to travel and manage pain the best I can?

I have a 5 hour flight Sunday morning to LA to go see my boyfriend, I’ve been in and out of flares from visceral hypersensitivity from post sibo treatment. Levsin, Gabapentin, Bentyl doesn’t do jack shit for me unfortunately, I started low dose Nortriptyline 10 mg which seems to of helped a little but my doctor told me I’m most likely gonna have minor flares until it reaches its full effect. What can I do to make this as manageable and comfortable as possible?

Is it not safe to use MiraLAX everyday??

I’m using MiraLAX post sibo bc all other prokinetics hurt my gut way to harsh because I have visceral hypersensitivity but I’m hearing it wipes your nutrients and gut biome completely as well??

I never thought at 18 my gi’s words to me were “I’m referring you to pain management “

Ive struggled with chronic pains for a year and grew up with lots of health issues with unknown causes, Ive had lots of tests with little to no answers and everyone around me keeps saying “oh your too young for pain management “ “poor baby” “your gonna end up like your mother” (for context my mother had certain chronic pains from a car accident she was in and she had a certain procedure done at some point that I believe broke her nerve or something and ever since she was put into pain management if one drug stopped working they’d bump it up OR they’d just put her on more and more which unfortunately covered up the cancer she had because I guess her meds were so strong it covered up genuine issues until it was to late) my dad has put this fear into my mind that if I go to pain management they are just gonna fill me on drugs, drugs, more drugs and narcotics and that I’m gonna end up being like my mother, I’ve been a severe flare bedridden for 12-13 days that at this point I’m starting to not care what anyone does to me I just want some relief but I really don’t wanna be in her shoes…

What are chroma’s?? Why are they so special?

I bought the treat gun separately from its bundle and ended up getting what I just called “the rainbow version of it” and people keep coming up to me and asking how I got it but i like genuinely don’t understand how this thing works, is it luck based??? I didn’t honestly fully realize mine was different from others until really paying attention 😅

For those with visceral hypersensitivity and have tried Nortriptyline did it help?

How many mgs were you on ?? Did it help your pain? Did it affect bowel movements? I really need help because I wanna try a TCA because I’ve tried antispasmodics, gas x, phayzyme and it’s been unsuccessful.

I have little trust in doctors with my past and don’t know how to trust them again

This is more of a vent post but ever since I was 15 and started having issues (I’m 18 now) when I first when to a pcp with migraines and she pushed them off as sinus infections and anxiety , that’s fixed now, when I was 17 I had reoccurring stomach pains and my pcp again pushed me off 3 times before referring me to a pediatrician gastrointestinal specialist, the gastrointestinal specialist I still have to do this day but during the time she diagnosed me with abdominal migraines and put me on cyproheptadine 4 mg, I was in pain 4-5 months prior to this and after 3 weeks of that medication my stomach pain stopped, fast forward this year 2026 I started having jaw pains in February that were debilitating and went to urgent care 2 times where at first they gave me inflammation meds and I can’t remember what they were that did nothing. Then I went to the dentist where they gave me a small amount of muscle relaxers until I could get a mouth guard which both of those did eventually end up managing my jaw pain and I only get flare ups maybe a few times a month, then may 12th I had upper side pains in my left or right where I went to the er , I saw my gi after and she preformed a ultrasound to check for gallstones, and other organs everything was fine. The pain ended up eventually subsiding for the most part, a month ago June 2nd I noticed my stomach pain coming back so I took levsin 0.375 mg thinking I was just having a stomach flare, it did nothing, over days it got worse and worse til June 7th I was in a ball crying and my boyfriend insisted I went to the er so I did, it showed a 2.2 cm cyst on a cat scan and an hour later on a vaginal ultrasound it showed free fluid and they sent me home. I saw a obgyn a week later and she asked me how my periods are etc and after a bunch of questions she said this sounded more gi related so I went back to my gi and she kept pushing me off leading me to research for myself, I asked about a sibo breath test and had one done June 29th , I tested positive for Methane dominant sibo. I was given 10 days of antibiotics and motegrity and started the antibiotics 7 days ago i have 2 days left and ive been bedridden for 4-5 days with little to no appetite, nausea, extreme fatigue and severe abdominal pain , i went to the er Friday night because I couldn’t even move and my imaging was clear and bloodwork and urine. They told me the motegrity could’ve been causing me severe pains on top of the flagyl I was given and told me to stay off the motegrity until I spoke to my gi and I was sent home and I’ve been in so much pain for months on end with different kind of pains but for the past month it’s been mostly abdominal pains . My OBGYN agreed to put me on gabapentin 300 mg when I saw her last time and auravela fe 1/20 and I actually felt better a week or 2 later with the gabapentin but now I’ve been in severe pain for nearly a week . I have to call my gi tomorrow but I don’t even know what to say to her. I don’t know what to ask I don’t know what she can do for this pain I don’t know what to do anymore I’m starting to trust doctors less and less I don’t know what to ask tomorrow I’m so scared I’m stuck like this

Are these die off symptoms or something else

I’m on day 7 of flagyl 500 MG and this got significantly worse starting the night of June 8th , it’s June 12th now
My symptoms
-severe abdominal pain that shifts between my lower left, lower, lower right, upper right, upper left
-nausea but no vomiting what so ever ,I can keep liquids down and I can eat small foods but I physically cannot eat that much from feeling so sick
-extreme fatigue

It got so bad I genuinely thought I was having a partial bowel obstruction, my dad took me to the er Friday night and my ct scan was normal, bloodwork normal, urine normal as well , they even said to me I wasn’t constipated based on the ct scan results
They gave me zofran and bentyl but neither of them have helped , I tried levsin that I had from my gi who prescribed me that didn’t help either, I’ve tried gas x and phazyme and it hasn’t helped, ive drank mint tea but it really only helps the nausea a bit , I can’t reach out to my gi until Monday morning , she was out a majority of last week and her office doesn’t have a nurse I can speak to over the weekend , I’m just worried this isn’t apart of the process and it’s something else. Weird note to put out as well that even non tight pants or shorts I can’t wear over my tummy or it’ll be more painful, I’m on gabapentin 300 mg and thought it was supposed to help this kind of pain to. I was also put on Monterey 2 mg but when I started day 3 of my antibiotics it put me in so much more pain. A triage nurse with my insurance company told me to stop the motegrity for now and the er told me to stop the motegrity as well and they didn’t know what sibo was and said it should be up to my gi to decide what to do monday morning. I’ve been crying on and off in pain, basically bedridden and I have a trip I’m supposed to go on to see my long distance boyfriend July 26th but I don’t even think I could go, I was having abdominal pains before this for 2 months and I’ve had horrible pain episodes but this has been so painful..

Would these be good to take after my 10 day course of antibiotics ? I

Digestive enzymes for floating stools/undigested food in stools (such as peanuts not all my food is undigested )
Ginger root and artichoke for preventing constipation, I do not want to take Motegrity again right now because I had stronger stomach pains from it and wanna try something a little more natural

I can’t do it anymore

I’ve been in so much pain for the past 3 days and I mean excruciating to the point I went to the er. I’m on flagyl 500 mg for methane dominant sibo and I can’t get a hold of my gi until Monday, I feel worse then when I did before with no treatment and the er didn’t even know what sibo was which I don’t blame them bc they are emergency medicine, I went because I’m in so much pain I genuinely thought I had a partial bowel obstruction. When the ct scan results came back they said I didn’t even look constipated at all and to stop motegrity since I’ve only been on it for 2 days and it could be making pain worse, I feel so hopeless I feel like this round of antibiotics is for no fucking reason I’m on day 6 and I’m so nauseous to the point I don’t even wanna eat , I can keep liquids down and I’m in severe pain. I genuinely don’t know what to do anymore I’m in so much pain and I wanna cry. My bloodwork and urine were normal to. Is this a part of the process? I’m slowly losing hope especially since I have a trip July 26th to see my long distance bf and I feel like I won’t be better by then..

Half way done through sibo treatment, started motegrity yesterday and think it’s to harsh on my gut

I was given motegrity 2 mg and I think it’s making my pain worse but I’m also constipated. I called a triage nurse through my insurane company since my gi triage nurses are out until Monday . She told me I can stop the motegrity if I wanted to or continue but I’m not sure what to do. I do not wanna have constipation that is just gonna make my methane sibo reoccur while already doing treatment for it.
