I recently did a PTC taste test on my whole family to see how many were tasters and how many weren't. My 19 yo cousin reported that while he didnt taste any bitterness, it tasted similar to glucose powder or sodium, which was a taste he couldn't describe. He said it wasn't salty nor sweet, and it didnt taste like paper either. I tested him twice with 2 different sheets 10 minutes apart, so it couldn't have been from the paper. His hands were clean when they came in contact with the paper. He had eaten a soft shell taco and a Baja blast a few hours prior, but when I talked to my biomed teacher and the person who had given me them to me, She said she had never seen this before, and checked the supplier to see if they have additives, which they don't. She also checked online to see if there's an explanation, and there was none. What could be the reason behind my cousin tasting PTC weird? Could it be a genetic anomaly or something else?
