Are any atheist parents here homeschooling? Do you have recommendations on a curriculum?

Our state has decided to force religion into the classroom (again). I have a 7 year old and am researching homeschooling curriculums, but most seem to be religious. It will most likely be a year or so before we pull them out of public school, but I want to be ready.

What curriculum has worked best for you?

I have been very depressed and can't seem to read anything new. Please, what are some good books that can help reignite my love for reading?

I have been cycling through my "safe" books, the Graceling series, Tamora Pierce's Tortall Series, Mercedes Lackey's 500 Kingdoms, The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue...

But I want something new. Every time I pick something up, it just feels dull and grey. But that's what life feels like now.

I just want something colorful and new to help me get through this.

Any help would be appreciated!

Is removing the uterus and or ovaries also considered bottom surgery for trans men?

I mean no disrespect, I am just really curious about what happens to those internal organs.

The homewrecker admits in the comments she knows the wife doesn't know. But it's totally not her fault!

Sometimes its not side effects.

I went up to 7.5 last week! I expected side effects, so when I got diarrhea, I wasn't surprised. Then chills. It's a bit weird, but okay. And exhaustion, to the bone. I can deal, that's why I went up on the weekend and I could sleep.

Then I was achy all over. And spiked a fever.

Guys, I have a virus. I am sick. I do not know which are virus symptoms and which are side effects, which made my call to my doctor a bit muddy (although I called when my fever was 101 so it was always going to be muddy).

So, just take care of yourself out there!

We are meeting a puppy at our animal shelter tomorrow. What questions should I be asking?

I haven't had a puppy in over a decade. We lost our 13 year old pup almost 2 years ago. We are meeting a 8 week old puppy at our animal shelter tomorrow and I want to be sure I am asking the right questions when we go.

I'm trying therapy again tomorrow. Every time I've done therapy it seems like its just an expensive vent session, when I really want to fix my brain. How do I do that?

This will be my 6th attempt over the past 5 years. I find a therapist, go to sessions once a week, and it feels like I'm paying to just vent about my life and not really fixing any problems in my life.

I have ADHD, PTSD, depression, and anxiety. My life is a mess. I need actual help to cope with life and my mental state, not just a place to freely talk about my problems and get validation. I need tools, tricks, and things to do, not just empty chatter.

How do I get a therapist to provide that? And how long do I take to figure out if they will help? I usually have therapy for 3-6 months before I get tired of just talking all the time. Am I jumping ship too soon?

My 7 year old wants to sew their own clothes. Please help! I have no clue where to start.

We've been watching Project Runway together and they are really interested in designing clothes. I am hopeless with crafty things. I can (poorly) hand sew a hem in a pinch.

So, where do I start? Do they need a machine? Are there machines for 7 year olds? Is there a good beginners guide somewhere that doesn't assume you know anything?

I'm just lost and would appreciate any direction at all!

There are Other Women Lifestyle Coaches?!?!??!

I came across this YouTube video dissecting this Other Woman lifestyle coach. She charges women to learn how to get with married men. The video is hilarious, but I feel like I need a shower now.

Are there any cookbooks that plan a series of meals like a link in a chain?

I dont know if I'm explaining this well but a book that has things like

Monday - make roast chicken

Tuesday - using leftover roast chicken from Monday, shred meat and season to make quesadillas

Wednesday - using leftover seasoned meat from Tuesday to make chicken tortilla soup

Etc.
