Canadian healthcare is something else these days

I’ve been dealing with health issues for the last 5 months and have continued to get worse, I left university around April, which is when these issues started and I go back in a week feeling worse, I’m honestly so scared on how I will manage uni on top of all of this.

I have symptoms such as fainting at work, vommiting and a 25lbs weight loss essentially a full body shutdown I feel so dead. I wake up feeling like I got hit by a truck. I’ve ruled out most structural issues although I’m waiting for a CT scan in December on Christmas Eve. Honestly it’s crazy to me if you don’t have life threatening organ failure then it’s just waiting on waiting. Once you start having these major issues then you get proper treatment but I think a crucial part of where this system fucks up is leaving the patients who have chronic illness or autoimmune conditions out to dry. Often times those types of patients will be more likely to develop something more severe down the line due to the symptoms not being managed properly. I think my main issue is doctors not finding the root cause along with the entire system not being preventative what so ever.

Welp

Had my small intestine ultrasound with my Gi yesterday it came back normal which was expected, only reason I had it done is because I have a family background of Crohn’s disease. Also after 4 months of waiting I had the gastric emypting study today my gp just got results and apparently were normal. I’m now completely stuck and feel back at square one, I really thought the emypting study was going to be the one to give me answers given my symptoms. All my gp and other doctors think I have is pots still, but I’m aware pots normally don’t come alone so I’m stuck at where to look next or what tests to get. My Gi symptoms are still the exact same they were 4 months ago, lack of appetite, nausea horrible horrible acid reflux almost frog like burps that come through my diaphragm, weight loss due to the lack of appetite. Lots of bloating in the lower abdominal and just general discomfort and pain when eating anything

I’m honestly so shocked my gastric emypting came back normal even during the test I was experiencing symptoms like a discomfort in the stomach and when I burped I could smell the food I just ate and would burp even when not eating or drinking
Guys if anyone has any suggestions pls respond I honestly have littke to no knowledge on pots but that’s about the only thing my doctors are sure I have.

Hi guys!

For those of you with POTS, did propranolol help? I just got prescribed it although I am yet to be officially diagnosed with POTS my gp me and fuctional medicine doc suspects I have it due to symptoms and poor man’s tilt table test. I’m asking because in a few weeks I’ll probably try the medication out but I am a little nervous to start it considering I am yet to meet with a cardiologist besides just doing a basic ecg and echocardiogram which came back clear.

Next week I have very important Gi tests which I’ve been waiting for for awhile which could be the route issue of my pots so I’m waiting to get done those tests before I start taking this new medication

Anyways wondering if it helped people with pots symptoms along with potential side effects ?

Hi guys!

For those of you out there that have POTS what are your opinions on propanolol? I just recently got prescribed it however I’m yet to even have an official workup for pots by a cardiologist I’ve had an echocardiogram and a ecg done but that’s it along with doctors doing a poor man’s table test which they figure is pots

So many doctors appointments seem useless

Got back from a functional medicine doctors appointment, first time trying this type of doctor and it just seemed so pointless. Some context: I’ve been having so many symptoms a lot are definitely secondary symptoms at this point the main issue is Gi problems and pots now. Haven’t been diagnosed with pots but I was hoping the medicine doctor would have more info or more of a clue as to what’s going on? Did a pots check in her office and she said well it looks like your heart rate is jumping up a lot and staying there. Essentially the appointment just felt like a regular gp one, kinda just telling me everything I already know and not looking deeper into like why this happening or what caused it to happen?

Don’t get me wrong my regular GP has been amazing during this he’s been the best out of every doctor I’ve seen, I was just hoping these specialist and new doctors I’m getting would have more insight or at least more tricks to help with symptom management while I wait for ongoing test regarding my GI issues.

Update I finally had my first GI specialist appointment.

Finally got an appointment with a specialist, we went through my history and symptoms one thing she asked is if I’ve had any tests done with my small intestine, which I have not. So she ordered CT/MRI scans for my small intestine and mentioned how it could be possible that I have crohn’s hiding there since I have a family history of Crohn’s disease.

She also mentioned and suggested trying different drugs to help with appetite and motility but I asked if it would affect my gastric emptying study done and she said yes. So I decided to hold off on that since I want an accurate test done.

Update!

Finally I had a doctors appointment where I feel like I was finally being listened to (probably because I fainted a few days ago) went to the doctor today to talk about my ongoing Gi issues and other things. He said he thinks I have pots as when I stand up my heart rate jumps over 40 bpm and stays there for the full 10 mins. He was also very concerned with my ongoing weight lose from Gi issues. Anyways I feel like I now finally have all the referrals I need to figure this stuff out!

My word of advice is if you have a doctor that constantly blames everything on stress and anxiety then 1 have proof, print out a page with all your symptoms and prove symptoms that simply can’t be related to stress and anxiety, also if you have an Apple Watch use it as a tool! I can tell anyone enough how this Apple Watch saved me it gives my doctor proof that my heart rate and body is doing funny things. Also if they are so stuck up and stubborn then try to find a different doctor.

I finally have an appointment with a GI specialist coming up hoping I can figure something out to at least stabilize my weight

This is just the beginning of the road for me to figure out what’s going on but I finally feel like it’s actual progress rather than just being put on a million different meds to see if they help.

Injury and health issues

Been an absolute brutal past couple of months started seeing major progress in the gym benching 225 for reps life was good. In March I got hit with a major illness that lasted about a month ever since then started having GI problems not gonna get into detail since this is about working out but needless to say it was affecting my gains. I’ve lost over 20 lbs in the past 3 months from these issues. Also recently got hit with a shoulder injury so been out of the gym for awhile. These photos are from before I got hit with health issues

I am 6”2 was 195 lbs now I’m 173lbs just sucks growing up as a skinny kid then finally getting to a good weight and physique and it just all goes downhill. Not sure when I’m gonna be able to get back in the gym especially with this shoulder injury now but hopefully once I figure shit out or doctors help me out it won’t take me awhile to get back where I was

LOOKING FOR ADVICE

Hi guys I hope all is well.

I’ve been having really bad GI issues for the past 4 months for starters as a kid i tended to have GI issues as well, however not nearly as bad as currently. In 2022 I got scopes done and came back with a hiatal hernia. I was able to manage it however then this year in February I got really sick for a month and shortly after I’d say 3 weeks or so I started noticing GI issues I realized it was a big problem when I started noticing a lack of appetite. My symptoms include bloating, abdominal pain, acid reflux and always being full no matter what, never have an appetite, I’ve lost over 20 lbs since this started. I’ve had scopes done again and shockingly it came back fine and they didn’t even mention the hernia although I’m sure it’s still there considering hernias don’t just magically go away? I’ve had a few stool tests done and a biopsy. Along with a course of rifaximin for sibo which didn’t help much. Considering I had a biopsy taken H. pylori and gastritis stuff like that is ruled out.

The only thing I have left to do is a gastric emptying test which is in less than a month.

I’m honestly not sure what the issue is or if I have another issue causing these issues, however I’m sure this is not just “IBS” I am really struggling
to maintain weight and whatnot.

I’m currently on some type of motility drug I forget the name started with a P however I’m not really sure if it’s working. Only thing I’ve noticed is it’s helped regulate my bowl movements that about it. I’m just confused how so many things are normal yet simply drinking water alone is challenging at the moment it will make me burp and feel full.

Help

Not sure if I have a pelvic floor provlem for starters I’ve been dealing with ongoing Gi and erection issues for awhile now

Symptoms that make me think pelvic floor has a role in this is, when I have a bowl movement it often feels incomplete I have most dribble after I go pee for example when I sit down or squat more will come out.

My guess is it’s too tight as I was at the gym very often before I started getting health issues.

Ed at 20 been having issues for a while now.

I’ve been having issues with my erections for a while now, it started with a lack of morning wood and progressives got worse. Now I have little to no morning wood, no random erections and have trouble even getting hard when alone? Only thing I’ve noticed is I have a tight/achy feeling above my pubic bone wondering if I have tight muscles down there that is playing a role in this?

So far my gp checked my thyroid apparently it was normal along with blood pressure and a hormonal panel, my sex binding hormone was at 35 the range was 10-70, I also got free t done which was at 508 the range was 196-636, I also got T done it was at 23.7, the range was 8.4-28.8, also I got estridol done, the range was <162 and mine was at 47, then prolactin the range was 4-19 mine was at 18, then LH the range was 1-7 mine was 4.5, then FSH the range was 1-8 mine was at 9.3

Basically everything in range only thing to note was my fsh was out of range and my prolactin was on the higher end.

Anyone have any ideas?

Acne coming back

A little Background: I had severe acne as a teen and nothing helped so I went on Accutane it worked so well for me I was on 10mg a day for I think around 2 years or so maybe even more. It did eventually clear me up and I was clear for awhile on the course. When I went off it I started noticing a few pimples nothing major though. Now I’ve been off of it for 4 months or so and it’s definitely starting to come back, most pimples are whiteheads or red bumps I’m now at the age where I need to shave pretty often which definitely doesn’t seem to be helping my acne lol. My dermatologist retired so I don’t have one at the moment I live in Canada so it could take months on end to get another but will ask my doctor soon to put in a request.

A little more context I’m a 20 year old male I have been having some other health issues such as GI problems and whatnot that my doctor has been working on but im just wondering if acne has ever came back for anyone after Accutane and what they did about it?

Also wondering if cutting out dairy has helped others? I have a healthy diet but it’s just frustrating how I have have friends that eat like shit never have been on any treatment and there skin is perfectly clear.

Wondering if I have POTS

A little background I’ve been dealing with a ton of symptoms, a lot connect to my nervous system ever since I got a really bad sickness a few months ago (my guess Covid) However I’m now wondering if POTS has a role in it, I’ve had bad exercise intolerance and dizziness lately when standing to the point where I almost faint. I recently got an Apple Watch and just did a poor man’s tilt test my heart rate laying down for 5 mins was at 64 then standing for 1 min it hit 107 bpm and stayed between the 100-115 range the whole 10 mins of standing still. Immediately after sitting back down it started to drop down to the 60s range.

I really don’t know much about POTS but now that I think about it growing up as a kid I could never stand for a long time, I always felt like my legs were tired or heavy like I had to sit down and I would always sit down in the shower never stand even at a younger age.

Hi all looking for advice/help

Posted this on a few different communities but have some updates and would appreciate any advice given.

Health timeline: January 2026 starting noticing lack or morning erections

February 2026 got really sick for a month, adding this because I normally don’t get sick and when I do I bounce back fast, but this felt different

April-current June ongoing multiple health issues and symptoms

Current symptoms: to start it off my sexual health has taken a deep dive, I get no morning erections or random erections at all, when I try it hardly works and has little to no sensation. I did a hormonal panel and it all came back fine besides my fsh was a little out of range on the high end and my prolactin was at the very end of the normal high end, I believe it was at 18 and the range went to 19, however my doc said it’s all fine since my total t free t and other hormones were all good. I’ve also noticed the area between my belly button and pubic region looks and feels visibly different, it feels tight and almost achy. I recently had a pelvic ultrasound which also came back normal, so I am wondering maybe it’s my pelvic floor muscles causing these issues?

Current symptoms part 2: now this is the main thing I’ve been really really struggling with to just function day to day: GI issues, a little background I’ve had stomach issues for a lot of my life in 2023 I had scopes done and got diagnosed with a hiatal hernia, however I was able to manage it with medication and lifestyle adjustments, fast foreword to April 2026 my stomach issues came back but has been hitting 10x harder my current symptoms include, occasional vommiting, I’ll eat something and then puke it up immediately, severe bloating after eating anything, horrible acid reflux that is now making my throat sore, I’ll burp none stop even if I am just drinking water, bowl changes, I’ll have times where I won’t have a bowl movement for 3 days or so. Loss of appetite and weight loss. I’ve also noticed when I eat something 2h later I’ll burp and smell the exact same thing I ate then. So maybe my stomach isn’t emptying properly? I have a gastric emptying test scheduled for august also I just started taking antibiotics for sibo so maybe that will help

I also have just having crushing fatigue, likely due to my sleep quality being bad, along with severe exercise intolerance whenever I try to exercise or play any type of sport I feel so dizzy like I will pass out. Recently I’m starting to experience severe bad headaches I truly don’t feel like myself at all anymore and feel so
Irritable however I’m not sure what else I can do.

Ps I’ve lost over 15 lbs since this has started in the last 2-3 months.

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions I’d appreciate them.

20 year old M, health issues for the past months.

Hi everyone coming on here as my last resort.

Loss of appetite and weight loss. I’ve also noticed when I eat something 2h later I’ll burp and smell the exact same thing I ate then. So maybe my stomach isn’t emptying properly? Ultimately I never feel hungry and have been forcing myself to eat. I’ve had general blood work done, stool tests and scopes all came back normal. Along with a gull-bladder ultrasound. The only thing I think they could be missing is SIBO or like a stomach emptying problem. These issues have also been ruining my sleep and sleep quality now. My family does have a history of stomach issues as my nana has Chrons disease and has had it basically her entire life and my dad has had hernias and his gull-bladder removed. I’m currently waiting on a GI speclist but given the Canadian healthcare system my doctor said it could take anyone between 1-4 months to get an appointment. I’m desperate for any ideas or suggestions.

I also have just having crushing fatigue, likely due to my sleep quality being bad, along with severe exercise intolerance whenever I try to exercise or play any type of sport I feel so dizzy like I will pass out.
