The launch week for the PS6 is going to be really interesting. Since the first adopters of the consoles are the most passionate gamers, people whom Sony has just angered with the disc issue.
Reviewers will also make sure to highlight the importance of discs and that they probably don’t recommend to buy a PS6 for that reason and also because it will most likely cost $1000 or more
The next issue is with the graphical quality of games, we already reached the limit of graphical fidelity, if people don’t see a significant improvement between PS5 and 6 then there’s not going to be a compelling reason to upgrade.

If the most passionate gamers are not willing to waste $1000 for a console that only sells licenses, then the casual consumers wont either.

I’ve seen some people make the argument that getting rid of discs is actually a good thing because this means less waste.

And this is how I know that those people haven’t even researched in the matter that they’re debating because Sony has stated that their games will still have a retail presence, meaning, they’ll still ship game cases but since there aren’t producing discs, all games will be a code in a box.

And if you think about it, that’s even a bigger waste and it’s even worse for the environment because they’re going to be using resources and gas to ship EMPTY BOXES WITH ONLY A PIECE OF PAPER ON THEM!

That’s even WORSE because if there isn’t a disc on the cases, why ship them in the first place!?
This combines the worst parts of physical and digital games, because the whole point of digital games is that you no longer have to drive to the store to buy your games!

And I don’t think that people will collect empty boxes on their shelves after they redeem their code in the box since they’re left with an empty case. Which means that we will likely see a rise in game caes being thrown to the trash since there’s no point in keeping them. Which is another bigger waste and it’s going to cause even more harm to the environment.

Remember how Sony got arrogant after the PS2’s success which made them believe they were untouchable and that’s why they made all of those poor decisions with the PS3 because they thought everyone would be loyal to the brand after their success?

And remember how good Sony became after they realized they couldn’t get away with being too greedy?
PS3 revived from the ashes once they got humbled and started listening to what fans and developers wanted.

And now due to PS4 and 5’s success they started to become arrogant again. Which is leading them to this path of greedy and unrealistic financial growth. So I hope that PS6 sells so bad that they realize they underestimated us again, which will lead them to correct their mistakes and we will all end up having a way better console, with better games, better prices, as things used to be.

First of all, I want to make clear that I’m not against digital games. Im against digital games being the only option.

You’ve probably already heard everything about how digital games are impossible to preserve and that you’re actually renting the license for an undetermined period of time and that you don’t actually own your digital games. And if you still decide to buy them, then all power to you.

But many people who have embraced digital games, don’t realize that a digital only market is going to affect everyone in a bad way.
The reason we’re teaching people about ownership of games is because we fear an era where companies like Sony have full control over what we buy.
I can already imagine a scenario where I can’t share a new game that I love to my friend in order to convince him to buy it for himself since Sony can ban my account if i try sharing it with him.

Sony HATES the fact that you can buy God of War for a third of the price on Amazon because that’s a chance they missed to make someone pay full price for the same game through their own store.
So, if they manage to cut off physical games entirely, getting rid of the secondhand market and retail stores trying to get rid of their inventory to make space for new games, then they’ll be able to sell us games at full price forever like Nintendo does because you’ll have no other choice but to buy it from PlayStation store.
Less competition means less incentive to be pro consumer.
Digital gamers will have a harder time finding good discounts for games because you won’t be able to get them anywhere else.

And all of this is without even mentioning that if your account gets permanently banned for any reason, you’ll also lose all your digital games forever.
Or if you get hacked (which recent history has proven that it’s very easy and happens very often) then that hacker can take over your account and keep all your games.

This is not just complaining for the sake of complaining, it’s just that we know this will set a very dangerous precedent for the future of entertainment as a whole, where companies will decide what we play and when we’re allowed to play.

Imagina que tienes que vender tu PS5 por pasar tiempos difíciles, o tienes que pasar mucho tiempo afuera de casa por cualquier razón (enlistarte en la milicia, estar en la cárcel, estar en coma, etc) solo para darte cuenta la siguiente vez que enciendas tu PS5 o PS6 que tu cuenta que guardaba todos tus juegos digitales ha sido borrada y es irreversible.

Este es el tipo de control que Sony quiere sobre nosotros y por eso están felices de eliminar el formato físico. Voten con sus billeteras porque ese es el único idioma que estás corporaciones avariciosas entienden.

Here I’m able to show how I was able to get the screenshots of the lower quality models for those who are curious. And if you pay attention you’ll see that the models actually change depending on where the camera is behind of them or facing them when you enter photo mode!

But I do want to take away some concerns; the game looks EXTREMELY good on switch 2! It’s just that when the camera is very far away the game instead uses some lower quality models to perform better. And it’s not the default way the game looks in general.

It’s more noticeable on the fingers. Sometimes when the camera is too far away the game will instead use these lower quality models to keep a consistent performance

(Edit): For those who are concerned: the game looks just as good as the PS5 edition. This was just an isolated event where I went to photo mode in a way I think the game didn’t expect me to. Because it matters if you entered photo mode while facing the characters or if the camera was pointed behind them. If you enter photo mode while the camera is in front of them, the characters still have their higher quality models.

The worst screenshots I could take of FF7 Rebirth on switch 2. The NPC loads a better model after half a second. But the mountains of the second image just look like that all the time.

Btw this was just for fun, i don’t want people criticizing the Switch 2 port.
