I got my first MacBook. I’m a freshman. Where do I start?
Everything is so overwhelming I’m hearing a bunch of different things 😭 any programs or apps or just tips that made college easier? I’m shooting for a 4.0

I’m an incoming freshman starting at UNT this fall and I feel like I’m trying to prepare for 50 things at once 😭 I’m living on campus too, so I wanted to ask current students/alumni what you actually recommend.
What are some things you wish you knew freshman year? Like dorm essentials that are actually worth buying vs stuff people say you need but you never use, random lifesavers/life hacks, things to know about living on campus, good places around Denton/UNT, etc.
I’d also love advice for academics like studying, professors/classes, managing your schedule, staying on top of assignments, or anything you learned the hard way.
Also where do people shop for clothes for college/going out? I’m realizing most of my closet is either work clothes or stuff I wore in high school lol.
Honestly any advice is welcome, even if it seems really random or obvious. I’m especially interested in the little things you don’t really find on the UNT website but figure out after actually being a student there.
Thank you!!
My friends can rarely play so sometimes it’s hard to get good teammates solo. Looking to increase win rate (currently at 52%)
We cannot afford to move to California unfortunately
Got accepted into the film program but isn’t financially feasible for my family. Any advice? What did you do?
I had the sims but got bored fairly quickly outside of mods and character customization. Any recommendations to make sure I don’t get bored?
I swear that side of the fandom doesn’t shower like you wonder why your relationships fail when you’re that overly attached to a toxic character PLEASE take a walk outside bro 😭🙏
Given we’re pretty close to August and everyone’s made their decisions by now, how is everything looking up? For those who were rejected, how are you guys doing ? Kinda nervous for the future and trying to prepare myself just incase.
They had to come out of my camera roll guys. Behold
Got into desired schools but cannot afford them, even after appeals. Any advice? It’s too late to apply anywhere else now 😭
Idk who needs to hear this but not only is cyberpunk on sale for 70% off on steam, playing on max graphics is beautiful. I actually pirated the game before but decided to buy it so I can play it on GeForce with max graphics. So insanely worth it, including phantom liberty. My progress saved and everything since they both access the same game files, so I didn’t need to restart. It’s so heavenly. Path tracing on, lighting and shadows at max, over drive, etc. thank me later. It’s just beautiful. I have 50 hours of gameplay and I’m still on act 2 I love this shit
I have a pastel pink and white setup. I’m looking for a good gaming keyboard and mouse I mostly open world story games like cyberpunk with an occasional switch to fps games like marvel rivals and cozy games like sims 4, inzoi, my time at sandrock, paralives, etc. I have trouble finding mice that match quality with aesthetics ! Any recommendations would be perfect!
Just curious on what everyone uses theirs as. What makes it worth the price?
I want to download phantom liberty in cyberpunk from gog games to, but I already opened cyberpunk with over 20 hours of gameplay. How do I set it up?
Congratulations to anyone who got accepted into their schools of choice! Any words of wisdom for the next group of people on this subreddit?
I want to apply as a transfer from one year and Im thinking of doing Japan for my first semester and possibly Spain next semester but it depends. If my essay is about Japan, and I maintain a high gpa, how would that influence college admission officers?
I got accepted into LMUs film program but the out net cost is 73k. How is everyone affording LMU? What did you guys do
I'm thinking of studying abroad for one year in another country while taking language courses there for my first year, does that look good on college apps to apply as a transfer if I maintain a 3.7-3.9 gpa? Do admissions officers actually care that you went abroad and does it depend on country?
