Have you been having to pay these apartment fees?

To be clear: I'm not talking about the standard application fees for $50 or so. I'm talking about the $150-$300 bullshit "administrative" fees due at move-in. Example here in this ad. I know they made them illegal up here in Bellingham and Ferndale. Wanting to move to Marysville. Can't find any info via research. (I had posted this earlier but made several errors in my post)

Does anyone give a rat's ass about the caregiver shortage?

Vulnerability time. I can only half shower myself, half brush my teeth and I have very limited time to have someone take me to medical appointments because I can't get out of my place on my own. Why don't I live with family? It's a worse situation than this. Yes. Don't ask. And there are a shocking number of anti-lgbtq caregivers of the very very few people who are available around here. Go figure. Feeling despair and hopelessness.

Are administrative fees for apartment applications legal in Marysville?

To be clear: I'm not talking about the standard application fees for $50 or so. I'm talking about the $150-$300 bullshit "administrative" fees for after you apply. I know they made them illegal up here in Bellingham and Ferndale. Wanting to move to Marysville. Can't find any info via research.

No, not everyone has autism

This needs to be repeated a few times to fight back against this ridiculous notion that everyone has it.

A handy talking point to spread: If everyone has it, what's the point of getting a diagnosis?

How do people get this in their heads? Do they think that having powerful emotions means that you have it? Because there are other diagnoses out there: ADHD (No, not everyone has that either). PTSD...

Fuck.

Heavy lifting and brief transport - $20

I'm looking for someone who can do some fairly heavy lifting of a metal twin bedframe, carry it out of a building (elevator available, don’t worry) pack it into your vehicle that can carry it folded at a 45° angle, drive it across the city to get cut down and then take it back up to my place. Must be available to do this at 6:00 or 6:30 Mon-Thurs. Might take roughly 1 hr.? Bungee cord will be very helpful for carrying it. If $20 sounds like too little to you, understand I have very little money (physically disabled can't work and unable to get on SSI) and this is the best I can do. I can do Venmo or cash

Odd job: someone who can shorten the height of my bed frame

There are 6 metal legs that are somewhat thick and probably require an angle grinder? I will bring the frame to you. Looking for nice, clean cuts. $15 for the job.

Bellingham Linux: A linux, privacy, & security chat group on Matrix

After the previous attempt to start something like this I thought it might work better to expand it with a couple more related topics and have it on the right platform. If you don't know, Matrix is "an open network for secure, decentralized communication." According to their website. Kind of like a mix between a web app version of signal and private version of Reddit. We can talk about related news, what software/tools we use, etc. and eventually do in-person meetups.

Feel free to click this invite link and create an account to join (let me know if that doesn't work) and start by saying what distro you use!

Frustrated and lonely

Am I the only one in the city that is frustrated with the lack of commitment to making social connections here? I mean, I LOVE it here so much because of the chill vibes but I think when people are too chill they just don't seem to want to get up and go talk to people and connect. The Linux group I just recently tried to start fizzled out to nothing. 15 people joined the chat group and I tried to talk up everyone. Few people really participated and it just eventually went dead despite people originally talking about meeting up in person.

I even once attended a Meetup group where the other 4 people who rsvp'd didn't show up to it including the organizer. I once tried to go to a philosophy club that met at a pizza place but people just seemed really focused on the pizza and beer and made pretty small conversation and the organizer didn't talk much either. And in regards to the many other social endeavors I've tried, almost everyone initially says they're interested and then just moves on. Which is fine and healthy to a point…but it's almost everyone that does that.

It's just weird.

Heading back to Craigslist

Facebook now requires identification to sell on marketplace and so I would no longer be able to use Facebook pseudonymously. Headed back to Craigslist and anyone is welcome to join me! Always felt uncomfortable using marketplace for a while and who wants to give more data to that bullshit corporation anyway?

Scanning used SSD for malware using ClamTK

I'm on Linux Mint about to scan a used SSD I bought off eBay for malware using ClamTK. Assuming it is infected, what action should I immediately take?
