Eo

A lot of people don’t like Eo but truth be told if she never died I probably wouldn’t have finished the book. Idk if that’s the same for everyone else.

Not gonna lie

I tried finding different fantasy books to read after Red Rising, thinking I’d become a big fantasy reader, but I’ve realized that it’s probably not gonna happen.

I tried Empire of Silence and got about 33% through it. Hadrian is interesting, but he keeps telling you when everyone is going to die or whether he’s ever gonna see them again, so there’s that. I was at the Cat part right after they had a romantic little chapter, and Hadrian goes in the middle of a conversation between the two of them, “Oh, she died to the plague later,” like what? I was about to really binge the rest of the book too, but if that’s how Hadrian narrates, I can’t read it. I know it’s a writing style, but there’s a time and place and it’s certainly not in the middle of a conversation between two characters right after a bonding moment.

The one I really wanted to read was Malazan, but even some fans don’t recommend it, and I’ve seen plenty people say they’re five books in and still don’t really know what’s going on.

Right now I’m reading The Way of Kings, and it’s pretty good so far. I plan to finish it. Maybe I finish Empire of Silence eventually, but who knows.

Why are you guys so willing to forgive?

I don’t forgive anyone who betrays Darrow in the series. The only one who kind of got a pass from me was Cassius, and that’s only because he saved Darrow in Dark Age. I never forgave Roque. Victra should’ve carved him up the way she did Ajax, but he took the pixie way out.

I definitely didn’t forgive Tactus either. The guy was just too much of a snake for me. Sure, maybe he could’ve redeemed himself, but I never saw it happening. I always felt he’d act like he’d changed and then betray Darrow again.

And Cassius? Even after everything, Fitchner’s death is something I’ll never forgive.
A Capitalist once said:
“Your father was a decent man, despite his eyes. Your mother wasn’t and isn’t. As for you…you might be decent. But the man you killed like cattle twelve years ago was a titan. While you frittered away the spring of your life, he suffered, he struggled, only to be struck down by…you. Fitchner was my friend. I’m happy you’ve found accord with Sevro. But, no. Hospitality is one thing. But I will never shake your hand, Peerless. If you were worth anything, Lune wouldn’t be leading a Gold armada. Would he?”
Edit: Orion was just messed up in the head so she gets a pass, and I mean it was Atlas.

Virginia

Am I the only one who stopped calling her Mustang during the second trilogy. I don’t even associate her with the name anymore, I only see Virginia.

Sun eater

Why do people say this series is better than Red Rising? I’ve read about 200 pages of the first book, and all Hadrian seems to do is spoil when characters die, always right in the middle of conversations with them. On top of that, the pacing is very slow which isn’t bad but paired with him always spoiling what happens it just ruins the suspense. People say it gets better later, but what’s the point if he keeps revealing when characters die as soon as you start getting attached to them?

Yo real question

I’m on page 144. Why does he emphasize the need to tell me that he never sees his family again every 2 seconds. Like I understood the first time and that spoils a lot of shit.
