Britney is so famous that my spouse, who knows nothing of Britney, used her as reference

I’m so happy, in a subtle sort of way. My spouse, who is *only* older rock style, was chatting with the work crowd, and I’m not sure what they were talking about exactly (I was on my cellphone lol), but she says at some point “Yeah, they were the Britney Spears of their time”. I’m not sure who she referenced, but it was followed up with referencing Frank Sinatra moments later on the same pedestal.

I didn’t ask for them to repeat any of it, I didn’t want to shatter the moment, but that she referenced Britney Spears at the same level as -someone- and Frank Sinatra as being peak iconic… am happy 😊

B-Mail 💌 - the rest of the miniverse records

So yeah, rather than spend the like… million pounds opening a hundred miniverse balls, I just went on eBay and bought the remainder of the Britney records.

Am happy 😊

Family from Canada wants to travel Europe (Rome and Germany are main). What train company can make this easiest (not luxury)

Hello, I have family in Canada that wants to travel some of Europe by train. Their main places to visit are Rome and Germany (nothing specifically decided in Germany yet). What company would be able to arrange an itinerary for them and basically just make it easiest to make this happen?

Not looking for luxury, just “get on x train at y time” type of thing, but arrange it all for them beforehand?

I just moved to England a few years ago, and none of my friends have done something like this. Any help is appreciated. I’ve found great rail journeys, railtrail, and byway online, any to get/avoid?

I made a 3D ASCII rpg game in HTML

Oh wow, I didn’t know there was an ASCII sub! Nice!

I made a playable ASCII rpg horror type game a while ago in html, hand-drawing (asciiing?) each view from each direction and spot (from an initially made template). This baby was a passion project that took over 800 hours to draw and code.

You can play the game here: https://zebeth.co.uk/playplanet/thewindmill/index.html

1943: The Battle of Midway

LED game by Acclaim, released in 1989. This baby has been following me through life, my favourite led game from back in the day. Still works, still… sounds exactly as I remember it lol

DIY chainmaille tumbler - upgrade!

Ok, if you recall from about a month ago, I created a ramshackle tumbler from toilet roll tube and painters tape. It was slapshod at best, and very slow.

It has undergone several upgrades! We replaced the cardboard with smooth wire for less friction and more visibility, we made the rubber band loop around the lid for a faster turn, and we increased the size of the drive knob to turn faster still, AND smooth out the movement significantly.

Final iteration. This will do for this one-off project (same project, wanted the titanium shinier), and again, should I start using it regularly (or need it in winter lol), I’ll get an actual tumbler.

Until then, I’m pretty happy with this version

Chainmaille polishing tumbler upgrade

If anyone recalls from a few weeks ago, I made a chainmaille tumbler out of painters tape and a toilet roll tube. I have upgraded!

One tangle of wire, 1/10th the painters tape, a small stick, and some electrical tape, and it now spins faster, and you can see everything clear as day!

B-Mail 💌 - Miniverse Britney ball unboxing!

Oh my goodness it just showed up!!! Bought it on eBay, arrived in perfect condition. So I photographed the unboxing of it so everyone can see the front and back of all of the bits. Though, I did leave the mini-record still sealed, since the record box fits in that keychain sleeve, and I don’t have the player.

I wasn’t sure what to put the mini-poster, but I did have some uv-protective adhesive film, so I decided to encase it in that to put on the wall. All of the packaging is inside the ball (just because), though I think I’ll take one of the plastic outer sleeves and hold that on top of the ball with a few tiny pieces of doublesided tape.

Really happy with my acquisition

Dice identification - d10 with a 10 on it

Can anyone identify this dice brand? It was a gift from a friend. The Chessex one has an 8 left of thr 10, Paintedlegions had a 2 there, D&G has a different font (and a 2 there). Any ideas? The 6 and 9 are underlined if that helps.

EDIT: mIiIiIght be a Koplow decimal set dice, a lot of it matches, but that underline under the 6 and 9 is shorter here. An older mold perhaps, or something else?

Rereading Blame! Finally got to the Jupiter room

Ahh, it’s been a long time since I’ve been able to read this (lost my originals, recently got master set). Finally reached my favourite/most memorable area, the Jupiter room.

I just obtained the original Gameboy again

Metroid II just doesn’t hit the same if it’s not the original black and green. It adds so much atmosphere to the depths ❤️

I had traded my original in waaaay back when upgrading to the new systems. Lol hindsight.

At least this one has been rectified 😃

So, I have been attempting to create a vegan pemmican!

Ok, this post may or may not fly, it barely counts as a recipe, but it duplicates my pemmican of yore!

And I know there’s a ton of recipes online, they’re all… fancy. I need a pemmican akin to the one I used to make… three ingredients! Meat, tallow, berry.

And so, I went on a quest. Vegan tallow/lard, easy enough, stork baking block. Exact same berries, dried rosehips. Now what would closest duplicate dried bison…

For ease of obtainment, I tried the three available vegan meats at my closest supermarket, squeaky steak, la vie bacon, and beyond burger, and made the same berry pemmican from each.

Steak, not bad, pretty steaky (unsurprisingly). Bacon, would not attempt again. Beyond burger… ooooohhhh, that’s the ticket. While it’s not *identical* identical to the flavour of yore, it is incredibly delicious, ball-uppable, and an incredible snack. 50/50 mix of ground to powder dry rosehips and dehydrator-cooked-and-dried beyond burger, just enough baking block to roll it into balls, and done!

One day I may try those other recipes with like… carrots and oats and whatnot, but I wanted my base material, my 3-ingredient pemmican.

And I think I’ve found it 😊

Should I come across other vegan meats to dry, I’ll try others too, but baking block + dried rosehips covers the rest of it 😃

Recipe more clearly:

Beyond burger patty
Stork baking block
Dried Rosehips

Pull apart and squish the patty into small pieces to dry easier, and dehydrate/cook to completely dry in a dehydrator, or an oven set to lowest. Use a mortar and pestle or a coffee bean grinder to turn the dried beyond burger into powder, and do the same with the dried rosehips. Collect enough of each until you have a 50/50 mix ratio. Mix in just enough baking block to be able to roll into balls, a few teaspoons per patty should do, and you’re done! Eat immediately or refrigerate for later, it’s a tasty snack!

Note: regular pemmican is shelf stable, apparently baking block needs to be refrigerated, I always refrigerated my pemmican anyway lol

An incredible hagstone

Oh my goodness, so a handful of our witch group went to Hastings and we’re chilling on the beach, looking at stones and shells and such, and amidst our wanderings (we all found cool hagstones to be fair), I stumbled across this incredible specimen. Three holes, mostly hollow inside (it’s strangely light to pick up!), crystalline inside, and you can see through all holes from all entrances, first time I’ve ever seen that!

Just an amazing find. The fact that we were a pack of witches all in a state of happy and calm maybe helped it come to us. We all found cool crystalline hagstones and other finds 😃🌊

Killy/Kyrii’s name in Toha script?

So would you say the top four characters is Killy’s name in THI text, or the bottom four? Or the bottom 3 followed by “I”?

I’m intrigued, do we actually get their name in this language script?

EDIT: Awww, it’s referring to the scribble at the bottom left 🥺

Rosary with prayers attached

One other Rosary I thought I would add to the sub, I made a small pocket Rosary a while back, but printed the story of its origin and all of the prayers on a liiiiiittle tiny booklet, on waterproof paper to boot (rite in the rain paper). By accidental discovery, I can confirm that the book can make it through a washer and dryer cycle no worse for wear!

Very useful for helping memorize all the bits.

Chainmaille Rosary

A chainmaille rosary that I made years ago (I never knew about this sub!). Red aluminium rings with stainless steel, the beads are known as barrel weave in chainmaille. The cross came out really well too, thanks to very tight rings on the sides of the cross, the arms stay upright. I wear it daily 😊

Chainmaille wrapped a geocoin

After much trial and error, I found that just opening a seam on full persian nicely clasped the coin, and I added a magician’s chain/jacob’s ladder chain to it, so I could play with it lol

DIY chainmaille tumbler

Almost night. Need tumbler. Don’t own one (never tumbled before). What do (already shook it by hand for like… 40 minutes).

Where there’s a rotating motor there’s a way. Not too fast, rubber band isn’t too tight. We will see if this lasts all night. Things inside are turning over, it’s doing more than just sitting on my end table for the night. See you in eight hours little chain!

Note: hard to see on video, but the tumbling media and chain are indeed turning over and over again in there.
