Ngl, I think this boss looks kinda boring. Someone tell me why?

Working on one of our bosses and something about it just isn't clicking for me. Feels flat, maybe too generic "demon with glowing eyes" energy, not sure. Screenshot attached.

Genuinely curious what you all think is it the pose, the lighting, the colors, or is it just me overthinking it? Roast it if you have to, I can take it

We added extraction to our co-op roguelite. Now we're trying to make it an actual decision, not just an exit button

We're building a 3D co-op roguelite called Curse of the Night. Runs go through up to 20 combat rooms you fight, loot, build up your character, and decide how far you're willing to push.

Originally progression was fully linear: clear a room, grab the reward, move on. Turns out that's not much of a decision continuing was basically always correct, so runs felt more like a checklist than anything tense.

So we added extraction. Now you can bail mid-run and keep whatever you've earned, or keep going for better rewards while risking losing it all if you die. This alone made loot feel way more meaningful a good drop isn't just "stronger now," it's also something you might not want to gamble away 💀

The problem we're stuck on: once players learn the difficulty curve, extraction stops being a decision and turns into a spreadsheet. If everyone figures out "rooms 1-8 are basically free, anything past 10 isn't worth it," the tension is just... gone. It becomes optimization, not risk.

PvE makes this trickier than extraction shooters too there, other players ARE the unpredictability. We don't have that. Our tension has to come purely from enemy scaling, encounter variety, future reward potential, and how much you're already carrying.

Co-op adds its own chaos on top: one player wants to bail because they just found something juicy, the other wants to push because their build finally clicked 😅

Ideally every room ends with the team actually having to ask "do we leave now, or risk one more?" not just knowing the answer already.

If anyone wants to see how this plays out in practice, the game's in alpha here: https://cursenight.itch.io/curse-of-the-night

For anyone who's worked on extraction or push-your-luck systems: how do you keep the "optimal extraction point" from becoming too predictable once players learn the curve?

https://cursenight.itch.io/curse-of-the-night

Games like Cult of the Lamb?🫠

I unexpectedly fell in love with Cult of the Lamb. 😄
I never thought I’d enjoy roguelites this much, but now I’m looking for something with a similar vibe. Cute art style, charming characters, satisfying progression… it doesn’t have to be exactly the same, just something that gave you similar feelings.
What would you recommend?

Please try the latest demo of my co-op roguelite

Hi, my friend and I have been working on our dream game for a long time, and we finally finished the latest demo version. We’d really love to hear what other players think.
It’s a co-op action roguelite with extraction mechanics inspired by games like Hades and Risk of Rain 2, but with a bigger focus on building your character through equipment, magic, and permanent progression

If you have some free time, I’d really appreciate it if you could give the demo a try. Download it here: https://cursenight.itch.io/curse-of-the-night

what you liked, what you didn’t like, or what you think could be improved? I would really know all you feedback

What game mechanic needs to die already?😡

🎮 What’s one game mechanic you’re tired of seeing, but developers just won’t let go of? Maybe it’s finally time to put it to rest.
I’ll start: escort missions. Few things are more frustrating than babysitting an NPC who walks too slow, dies too fast, or somehow manages to get stuck on every corner.

4-Story Cat House for Just $10😅

All it took was a few cardboard boxes and a bit of free time 😄

I bought some tape and a glue gun for the project, but funny enough, I didn’t end up using either of them, so I’m not counting them in the cost.

Instead, I cut the boxes so they could lock into each other like puzzle pieces and stay together on their own. Then I added openings between the floors so my cat could climb up and down, cut a few windows, and put a small cushion on the top floor right next to the window 🤟

Now he can watch the street, jump onto the windowsill, and chill in his little cardboard tower all day 🥰

I posted my first devlog about my indie game

Hey everyone! I just posted my first devlog about my indie game, Curse of the Night. It’s a 3D co-op roguelite extraction game that I’m developing together with my friend🤟

This is my first time trying this kind of video format, so I’d really love to hear some feedback from people 😌
Is this kind of video interesting to watch?🥺
Did I explain things clearly enough?
Is there anything I did wrong or should improve for the next one?

Thanks for any advice 🙂‍↕️
