Its my moms birthday and tbh I'm not earning but i do wanna get her something nice. She's a very typical housewife. She's not really a modern person. I do not wanna gift her anything related to household. I wanna gift her for the person she is. I dont wanna get her clothes as well.

She is a very avid reader, but only in our mother tongue, she loves plants a lot. She is also into yoga. She loves experimental cooking. Its her 61st birthday. I got her a handbag last year, and she didn't like my gift and made me exchange it for another bag.

I dont have much of a budget maybe max 2k but anything thoughtful. I'll be making her a card as well and probably a handmade bookmark if I can find some time. Any suggestions?

I have a family friend, we rarely talk irl, in fact irl talking with this guy is one of the most painfully awkward situation I've ever been in. But online we send each other memes like we've been long lost friends. Very niche memes. Dude is a literature PhD scholar and I also read so the memes are kinda literature sorta niche ones.

Thing is he sent me a May 13 post and I thought it was weird because thats something you send people you date or maybe girls send each other. I just seen zoned that one reel. I told his to my bf and he said its sus. Today he's sent me another reel about how women should be successful and if my wife is earning in lakhs I'll be house husband, i hope i find that typa girl type post. And honestly its weird coming from this guy I've never even held a convo with considering the type of posts we send each other.

Also I always thought he was kinda gay...so uhm yeah. I didn't think much of it till my bf called it sus behavior lol. What is happening?

I was studying in uni and had come for a 2 week holiday which ended up being a 6 month stay because I got a wfh internship. I had come back to uni along with parents for my exams but my exam got over early. I had told my bf I probably won't get a gap to meet him. But day of exam because I was able to leave early and told my parents im going out with friends i had lot of time in between, while waiting for friends exam to get over. I was free from 11 to basically 4.

Asked bf if he could come. He does live an hour away. But he was benched for 6 months and just few days back he got selected for a project and last 2 days he was awaiting an interview with manager to dicuss compensation and he was paranoid if he misses it, they won't give him a better pay than before thinking he's tardy. He also twisted his ankle so he wasn't able to ride his bike and said he parents needed the car later so he couldn't take it either.

I was scared to go 1 hour away cause my parents were expecting me to come back after exam and i was fighting with them to stay with friends after exam. I thought I shouldn't go far away alone either in case they show up at my uni, cause we were staying close to uni anyway

I told him its alright and by then my friends were having discussions on the plans. But today I woke up feeling so sad... I'm lowkey mad but I kinda get what he says also, I'm very anxious so I also would wait for such a call and won't feel relaxed meeting my partner

A girl who was out late at night with her male friend at an empty building was raped brutally by 3 men at knife point and her male friend was attacked as well. They stripped her naked and raped her for 1 hour. She managed to escape by biting the perpetrator...The criminals have been caught as far as I know.

But what's more scary about this was just yesterday night I was telling my mom about the IPS officer who conducted an undercover operation for womens safety and they arrested 40 people from there. And my mom made a comment, if it was Kerala (we are from kerala), it would be more men, and I told her Kerala seems comparatively safer.

And when this news played my mom literally turned to me and said what did I tell you...Kerala isnt safe like you think it is. And idk why but I felt sooo uneasy.

But what was horrible was my mom didn't waste a second victim shaming. The girl was reported as an MBS student and my mom said "parents trusted and sent her to study and what was she doing with being out in abandoned buildings at night?!" I told my mom this is not how she should react, such a horrible thing has happened to someone and then she didn't say anything. She just walked away. Later she told me how a neighboring shopkeeper we always go to was arrested for raping a schoolkid last year...her family beat him up last year but didn't take him to police but the kid told it to hee therapist at school and she reported him. And all this happened near my home. In my city. In my state.

Am I privileged to be safe or am I oblivious to how bad it is for others. I'm just so disturbed.

Met a lady today. Some friends of my parent. Literally meeting for first time. I'm pretty thin and I've been body shamed my whole life, plus being dark skinned I've heard stuff like "burnt pole", "stick", "pencil", "you will fly with wind" and the most common "don't your parents feed you"

She enters looks at me while my mom introduces me. Without missing a beat she goes "Does no one feed you around here?" I was honestly taken aback, that she didn't even have the decency to be nice for at least a min before the insult...like idk maybe ask my name, what do I do...nope.
