Where to live as an expat?

I’m coming to KL from Australia. Where’s a good place to live as an expat? And what’s the best way to make friends here?

Best way to monetise a game?

I’ve got a game in development. It’s a 2D thing. What’s the best way to monetise? I’m thinking sell for $2.99 and heavily market. Or is best to run ads + sell premium? Or is best to sell in-game content and go free to play? What are the factors this depends on, in your experience?

Bringing the GTA:SA map into UE5

Does anyone have any info on this? I want to re-master aspects of the game, but to do so I would need to bring it into a modern engine. Is it possible? Has someone done this?

A tool to aggregate all the different platforms?

I’m wondering if there’s a tool that allows people to connect up all the different ad platforms together so you can run a centralised campaign and track stats? Eg set a global budget, push ads to meta, google etc. Right now I’ve got a Jerry-rigged version of that just for myself, but I’m wondering if there’s anything out there off the shelf? Why or why not?

I made an app for going off-grid

Hey guys. First time poster, long time lurker.

I made an app that might be of interest to someone here.

It’s basically 100% offline AI + Wikipedia.

It works like ChatGPT but doesn’t need internet. It has access to all of simple-English Wikipedia, + the top 100k most visited articles of main Wikipedia in the app database.

Again, fully offline. No subscription or internet required, after the first launch when it grabs the database.

It uses an on-device AI that is as powerful as ChatGPT 3.5.

So this could be good if you’re bored, have no internet, or have a search that can’t wait until you’re back within signal, or are interested in data privacy (0 data retention, no need to have the app access data at all).

Right now it’s only for iOS, but if anyone likes it, I will make an Android version (currently I don’t have the budget for it unless there’s some demand).

Anyway, please let me know your thoughts/improvements.

Thanks!

The app is called “WikiChat Pro” which you can search on the iOS App Store. The link is here: https://apps.apple.com/au/app/wikichat-pro/id6780760631

Rejected for requiring a one-time download on launch

My app needs data the first time it launches. 2gb. I was rejected twice. But apparently it’s allowed? I’ve now reduced it to 400mb, awaiting review.

Seems the reviewer’s mistake.

How to price your app?

I know this is a complicated question.

I’m launching my app at $14.99, but I was originally planning $2.99. The question is - will I get 7.5x the conversions at the lower price, or is that unrealistic?

In other words, as a general rule, should you price high or low? Eg aim for volume or margin?

Or would you start high and bring it down to find the sweet spot of revenue per month?

Is it a matter of experimentation, or has someone come up with solid rules?

I could imagine the psychology of perceived value could come into play. There’s also the increased vitality potential.

Anyone with personal experiences to share as to how sensitive customers are to price, generally speaking?

The reason singapore is so great is because people like you aren’t allowed to vote.

Left leaning people are effectively prohibited from contributing to the decision making process in Singapore. Hence why there are no homeless people, the streets are clean, there’s a huge variety of high quality options at very affordable prices, and the country is prosperous and low in corruption and without drugs.

This is what a world looks like when people like you aren’t allowed to vote.

11 out of 12 for the drill - is this indicative?

Not sure if this is representative of the real thing? Should I be getting 12/12?

To be fair, the one I got wrong I just blatantly misread the question. (Note to others: if you’re stuck on a question or the answers don’t make sense, assume you’ve missed something major).

Eg a question was about “businesses with more than 9 employees needing a law for safety”, and I somehow managed to read that as “the law says a business needs 9 safety representatives”. I never bothered to actually question my own assumptions about what the question was even asking.

MDAC compromised

I tried posting this to r/malaysia but it was deleted by the mods.

I filled out the Malaysia mdac and was immediately bombarded with poorly written messages offering me cheap loans.

I used the official government website (confirmed with history). I’ve done this multiple times also.

20/20 hindsight

Anyone notice how obvious the wrong answers are in hindsight? I keep asking myself “how did I get this wrong” after locking in the dumbest answer in the list.

Best way to get a baseline/benchmark?

Any good websites with reliable practice questions to get a benchmark score before you start prep?

How much difference do increments make between 170 and 180?

Eg 174 vs 175, 175 vs 178 etc.

At what point does it stop mattering?

If it’s between you and another candidate, will 1 point matter?

What does 175+ realistically get you?

Is it just another hurdle? Or will it meaningfully improve your chances of getting into a decent school?
