Sizing out of the merch, sad day indeed

Was able to pick this shirt up and a dude soup one in the RT closing down sale. Bought it when I weighed nothing but now after my steroid use (shoutout Sammy Sosa), I’ve sadly started to grow out of it.

Do you guys have any merch ye still wear?

How did he know about the cloud?

Microsoft cloud didn’t really become a thing until 2011 and wasn’t mainstream for another couple of years, yet this hologram Hal from 2006 knows about it?

Worst show ever 0/10 cancel it now!

If there was ever a hypothetical Heroes for Hire project set in the MCU, what Run The Jewels song could you see them using?

I could totally see "Don't Get Captured" or "walking in the snow" being used in an end credits sequence

Remember guys, no complaining ! We’re sick of it !!

This comment was left on a post a few backs about Storm not getting enough love.

It was also heavily upvoted at one point before being removed lol. This game and the community is cooked

Update on trying to achieve Paddy’s hair

A few months, I made a post asking how I could achieve something like Paddy’s hair (post here).
Well one person asked for an update for when I did it and that got like 2 upvotes so I knew people were clamouring for it.

I obviously couldn’t get even a fraction of his hair power, but I did the best I could.

(if you mention the wrinkly shirt I’ll kill you)

Drakengard 3 is actually... fun?

Am I playing a Yoko Taro game that has fun combat? What is this witchcraft??

I knew the least about 3 before going into it in comparison to the rest of the franchise/NieR, and I assumed it was the black sheep of the series (not counting Drakengard 2 obviously) with how little I've seen of it posted on the internet. I was aware the game was kind of rough and had serious performance issues, but I wasn't too aware on whether the game was liked or not.

I will say the first 5 - 10 minutes was pretty bad for me. Even though I was emulating, I still had major lag in the first mission and the controls just did not gel with me right away. I thought this would be the game that'd I end up actively hating, but after a little bit of adjustment I really clicked with it. Jumping over an enemy and using Sinful Scream to slash them was the moment I knew the game had me.

The fact weapons don't rely on x amount of kills or very specific materials needed to upgrade them means I can freely change and tryout weapons without feeling like I'm sabotaging myself (Although I'm sure it'll get a lot more grindy later on). Weapon switching mid combo + actually Incentivising different weapon types for different scenarios adds so much to it.

The over the top anime approach to the story and presentation is different, but it still invokes that Drakengard 1 vibe where every line of dialogue oozes personality. I also really like the weird 4th wall breaks and stuff, adds a lot of charm. My hot take is I can see myself enjoying this more than NieR Gestalt which I beat recently as well. I really liked the more laid back approach to that game, but the fact it's more toned down writing was paired with a very on the nose execution means I didn't care as much as I thought I would for the different endings or reveals (Still a cool game though).

I am still very early on in Drakengard 3, so I'm sure I'll be sick of it by ending W or whatever, but for now I'm pleasantly surprised.

Could someone explain the reasoning behind the ending?

Major Spoilers for Supergirl (2026)!!!

What was the reasoning behind making it so Kara kills Krem?

Was it her interpretation of the “be good, not kind” from her mother justifying her killing him? Was her earlier in the movie saying revenge isn’t the answer based on her trying to be too similar to Clark / focusing too much on the “be good” rather than the not kind” aspect? And was her killing Krem supposed to be her becoming her own person / Supergirl instead of just trying to be Superman 2.0?

While I didn’t love the film overall, this is not criticism against it. I am admitting I am too dumb to fully understand the intent lol so I’d appreciate some people’s thoughts on the decision. I genuinely don’t understand the core message they were trying to get across

Don’t know how to feel about P2: Innocent Sin

(Posted this in the main sub but I said I’ll put it here too, since you guys seem to obviously be bigger fans of 1 and 2 and I’d like yer thoughts)

Just finished playing it for the first time and I’m conflicted on it, although I’m more so leaning negatively overall. I think it’s a game with great moments and enjoyable characters, but ultimately it dragged on for way too long.

Like I said, there are moments that are great. The reveal of the children locking maya in the shrine is great and pretty much any scene involving them when they were younger was just done so well.
The entire ending sequence is amazing as well.

However, so much of the game just feels… flat? Like I actually ended up liking the characters (Yukino is best girl), but even then I think their designs and mannerisms did the heavy lifting in comparison to their actual dialogue. Even a certain historical dictator ended up not being that interesting or entertaining. I have to note I played the ps1 version with the fan translation, so I’m wondering if a lot of the flavour found within the script was lost?

Also, the gameplay was pretty painful by the end. I ended up cheating a bit to speed it up and I was still bored. As far as I can tell, Eternal Punishment is more of the same gameplay wise, but do people find the story/writing to be better? Or is it more of the same?

Anyway, I’ve officially beaten Persona 1 (PS1 English version) and Persona 2: Innocent sin without touching 3,4 or 5 yet. Am I clinically insane for playing through these first?

I finally beat it!!!

Years in the making, but I finally beat Drakengard.

I always have ocd when it comes to games, so after starting up and playing NieR: Automata for about 30 minutes a few years ago, I backed out and decided I needed to start from the beginning. And thus started a long, arduous journey of me stopping and starting this game mutliple times over the years.

Fantastic game, such a cool narrative that has characters and voice acting that holds up to this day. Even the CG cutscenes are a standout, which I wasn't expecting from such a "niche" game. I can't think of a title on this level that felt like pure misery and just downright disturbing throughout, without having any real levity. Pretty much everyone in this game is the worst and I love that lol.

I already made a post talking about the combat, but yea I really hated it, especially by the end. I think its simplicity and repetitiveness adds to the game's atmosphere, but it becomes way too much especially in some expeditions. The whole appeal of this game is the story, and having no hooks in the expeditions highlight just how monotonous they are. Some of the aerial boss fights were quite fun.

I also really liked the ending E boss. I'd barely consider it a rhythm boss fight because I never found any rhythm lol, but it was still really cool. I can't wait to see how it sets up NieR.

I may just watch a compilation for Drakengard 2, because I don't know if I'm willing to invest more time into a game I won't completely love (also it seems to be even longer than the first one!).

I'll probably take a break and then try tackling the orignal NieR. Hopefully I don't have to wait 25 minutes for a chest to spawn in that one too :)

Drakengard's Story: Deep and disturbing, complex themes expertly written and explored using great voice acting and presentation. Drakengard's gameplay: Kill yourself

I think I'd go insane if I wasn't playing this on an emulator with the ability to speed it up

Has the High Republic era already gone past its prime?

Obviously it seems a stupid question since the main book series it’s based on is well over, but I feel like there was push for this era in different mediums a few years ago that never truly went anywhere that could have kept it’s momentum going.

For instance I’ve been replaying Jedi survivor recently and the fact they went in so hard on using the era is amazing. Playing this back in 2023 and the eclipse trailer was the reason for me starting reading the books in the first place. However, this feels like a one off that was used as a backdrop for the game, sort of the like the Zeffo for the first one, so I doubt we’ll see much more of it in the third.

The Acolyte seemed to be the big push for it in live action and that sadly didn’t pan out. Even then that felt (and was) closer to the prequels than the High Republic.

The last big hurrah at the moment seems to be Eclipse, which was the main thing that got me into the books in the first place (The trailer was just that cool). Although that still seems a well bit off, if it even comes out at all.

While I’m not the biggest fan of how the books turned out (Light of the Jedi is still amazing), I still have such a love for this era and its style. Do you think we’ll still see a big push for it in the future or has its momentum mostly died out?
