Random question: does anyone have a *variable* temp. Vevor 4L distiller that they are looking to part ways with?
I am distilling isopropyl alcohol that is used to clean my resin 3D prints. I have the regular Vevor distiller that isn't variable and is designed to heat up exponentially till it reaches its temperature limit, then shuts off. I need to be able to maintain around 118°F so that I don't super heat the isopropyl alcohol which I keep losing to the air (about 25% yield from 91%). I have thermostats I could hook up to it but fitting a sensor probe would be problematic due to the tops seal, and even if I could I'd risk melting the cable. Also looked into using an SCR voltage regulator which would still allow it to heat up exponentially but much slower, plus the time it'd take to reach my target temperature would be painfully long.
And because people will have something to say about how unsafe this is: I do this outdoors in front of a 7,200CFM fan in an open area on concrete near 2 fire extinguishers wearing a respirator as needed. Resin remnants (death cake) get scrapped off with a plastic scraper each use to not damage the distillers inside coating and to not create dry stuck retention. The seal is inspected each use for signs of degradation as I'm aware that isopropyl alcohol can deteriorate it over time.
