Sales tax when buying FSD

Sales tax when buying FSD

I live in Nevada and I just bought FSD. Sales tax here is 8.375%. I travel to California quite often and sales tax in LA is 9.75%. Does Tesla charge sales tax based on my home address or where the purchase actually occurred? I could be in California at the next renewal.

Anyone Seen Perfumes at Costco?

Saw on a Youtube video about designer perfumes at some out of state Costco.

Has anyone seen perfumes at any Las Vegas Costco? If so which warehouse location?

[US] Wife got a text saying she has cancer from last screening

The message asked her to call a number. Not sure what the scam is but I’m pretty sure they want money for some kind of “treatment”

But she hasn’t gotten a screening recently. So she just blocked the number and reported as spam from her phone.

Just cancelled Tesla insurance

After about 13 months I cancelled Tesla insurance. I’ve had it with being so careful and not letting my safety score drop. What finally did it was they just enabled Safety score 3.0 in Nevada. Now I’m getting dinged for excessive speeding every where I go. On 2.1 I have never been dinged for excessive speeding.

Ive always thought that the hard braking was a very bad metric. It actually makes me hesitate when I have to hit the brakes. That makes it unsafe. Hard braking at a yellow light has never been waived. It dinged me every single time. So it just encourages me to run the yellow instead of hard braking and stop.

I paid for FSD to get 100 safety score but last month it was upgraded to 14 lite (was on v 12) 14 lite makes me nervous and has its own problems. So I cancelled that too.

Now as of today I’m with a different insurance company, paying more but driving happier.

Edit: For those who are curious, I'm in Las Vegas and I was paying Tesla Insurance between $300 - $350/month for two Model 3's. So about $150+ per car. That's with full coverage. Quotes from Geico and Progressive were $600+ for both cars. My safety score has been 97-100 for the past 11 months. Since version 3.0, my scores have been 85-95 with no driving changes. Since school's out for the summer there's less traffic on the road. So really my score should be higher than before.

Car wrap

I have a Tesla model 3. Some scratches and minor chips on the paint. instead of getting it repainted I thought about getting it wrapped. Any idea what wrapping it costs? Any recommendations on a shop? I’m on the east side.

Painting a model 3

Our 2022 black model 3 has some minor scratches all around and several chips in the paint at the front. It doesn’t look bad but it is noticeable.

We were thinking about getting it painted. Maybe even get it in red.

Looked at a few websites and the prices are all over the place. I don’t know about the different processes, the coatings, the extra charges.

Any tips or suggestions?

Costco won’t let my wife pay even when I’m there

We were at our local Costco. We were buying a bunch of stuff and a video doorbell for our son. My wife wanted to pay for the doorbell with her credit card. When we got to the cashier they scanned my membership card. All good. Then my wife pulls out her card to pay. The cashier asked if she is a member. I said no. They said I have to pay. They didn’t even look at the name on her credit card. It could have been in both our names. In fact it was a joint credit card account but her card has her name on it. Regardless of that, if we went to the self checkout nobody would even ask who is paying or whose name is on the credit card. I’m the member and I was right there. I understand that they are enforcing sharing of membership cards. But I was there!!! She was not using my membership without me.

Just a FYI. The other person on my membership is my son. We decided this works better for us because my wife and I always shop together. And so my son can shop on his own.

Edit: to clarify a few points, I’ve been a member since 1999. My wife wanted to pay for the doorbell camera as a gift to our son. He lived in our home until a couple of weeks ago because he just bought his own house. That’s why the doorbell camera. There was no holdup at the line. I just paid for it on my credit card. Then I paid for the rest of the stuff in our cart. We exited the store and that was the end of that.

Store clerk purposely stole 25 cents from 11 year Old

This happened in Winnetka/Canoga Park, California at a convenience store in the summer of 1982. I moved away to another state long ago. But last month my wife and I were on vacation and driving through the area and she wanted to see the house I grew up in. Then I saw the store. It was still there.

Back in 1982 I was 11 years old. I would go to this store to play video games once in a while. I was a shy kid, never bothered anyone and never disrespected anyone. This was the middle of the day and I was playing some games. Then I switched to a Galaga machine. Put my quarter in. Two seconds later the guy behind the counter said “I told you I was going to turn it off!”. It seemed like he waited for me to put in a quarter. In my mind he stole my quarter. He never said anything about turning the machines off while I was playing any of the other games. And it was the middle of the day. There’s no reason to turn them off. Didn’t think about that day until it flashed back in my mind when we drove right past it. The guy is probably 80 years old by now.

Station Casinos reset all players cards

We went to Sunset Station today because they gave us a $25 food voucher. Had to print it from a kiosk. My PIN didn’t work and the Kiosk said I needed to see the players club. While standing in the long line of people at the cashier cage/players club (they combined them) I talked to a couple other people who had the same issue. When I got to a cashier she said they reset all the players cards and everyone has to get a new PIN.

What a pain in the ass! Whichever upstairs executive decided to do this is a dummy. I can’t imagine what it would be like tomorrow (Friday) when people are cashing their checks and other people are waiting in line to reset their PIN. And the people who just want to cash out their chips or slot tickets will be in the same line.

Should drivers expect that I have luggage for trip to airport?

Last year my wife and I booked a trip to the airport and we had 2 carry-ons and two backpacks. Nothing huge. When the driver showed up his trunk was almost full with miscellaneous junk. And the trunk was rather dirty. I was only able to put one carry-on and one back back in the trunk. We just held the other stuff on our lap.

Is it reasonable for me to assume that drivers should expect to have room for luggage if we booked a ride to the airport? We were actually trying to travel light this time. If we had checked luggage it would definitely not fit in this driver’s car.

Advice to Las Vegas visitors

Beware of timeshare salespeople. Some hotels have these people who look like hotel employees trying to help you as you walk in the front lobby. They generally target older couples with luggage in their hands. They usually don't target families with kids or a solo traveler. They are not hotel employees. They are timeshare sales people. They are usually pretty nice and friendly, and can answer questions for you. That just makes it appear like they are hotel employees. After answering your questions, they will ask if you want free show tickets, or a couple of free nights at the hotel, or maybe even a $500 gaming voucher. And all you have to do is attend a presentation. The presentation is a high pressure sales pitch for a timeshare. If you agree to buy a timeshare, it will cost you hundreds or thousands of dollars per year, year after year. Timeshares are notoriously difficult to get out of. Many times you have to pay thousands or tens of thousands of dollars just to get out of it. For some people timeshares make financial sense. For others timeshares are a financial burden. Be absoutely sure you understand what you are getting yourself into. Don't sign anything without reading the entire contract and understand what is in that contract.
