I used to display pins on the back of my wheelchair but I caught people pulling on them a few times so took them off. I think an ita bag would be a great way to display my badges. But I don't want a bag on the back of my chair because I can reach it myself and it's prone to tampering without me noticing. I usually keep a bag with my stuff strapped to my legs. I still want to display pins on the back of my chair though so is there a type of ita bag that's just the pin display window, with no extra compartment for your stuff. What would I search to find something like that? Thank you for any recommendations!
I'm getting my new chair in 8 weeks (very exciting). I've ordered it in electric green which is nice but I don't love the colour. If I could have any colour I want I'd have something sparkly or holographic. I know some companies that wrap cars will wrap wheelchairs if you ask. Had anyone had this done to their chair?
I want to get a triceratops skull tattoo while I'm in Birmingham but coming up against the issue that not many places are accessible.
Any ideas for how I can make my wheels cosplay specific without having to take off all my stickers. I don't particularly want to make 3 more sets of spoke guards because plain ones are expensive are cardboard ones are a big pain in the arse to take all the way to con on multiple trains.
I've messaged and explained, I love their work but haven't been able to book because I live far away. I asked if they had availablity for the days I'm in their city and they did. I then asked about accessibility and they informed me about being up stairs with no lift. I then asked if I could shuffle up the stairs on my bum (I do this all the time at my parents house) to get into the studio but they haven't responded. Was this an inappropriate request. Can you think of any other way I can get a tattoo from this artist?
Content warning: trauma
So I watched phm for the first time after having it recommended. I loved it so much and it's now taken place as my 3rd favorite film of all time. On my first watch I found the scene where Grace is begging for his life after being tackled to the ground and is calling out for Carl to help, so hard to watch. I had to pause the film because it triggered a panic attack and I needed to compose myself to continue. I loved the film so much though so the next day I asked my brother if he wanted to hang out, have a movie night and watch the film together. I warmed him that they're was a really distressing scene but when we where watching it I started panicking again and he put his hand on my shoulder and gave me a little squeeze, I could see he was just comforting me, he wasn't upset at all. So at the end of the film I asked why he didn't find the scene so distressing and he looked and me and said "you do know why that's scene triggered you right". I was confused because I didn't realise I had such an extreme reaction I thought it was supposed to make you feel for Grace as his autonomy is taken away from him but apparently my reaction was much more intense because of my history of being SAed. I don't get it, I think that scene is genuinely intense and don't think it's my trauma that made me react so strongly. I just wanted to know if any of you found it a strongly upsetting scene or if it is just me being sensative?
I found some pictures of when I'm about 12 and was starting to feel confused about my gender. I got my hair cut like Justin Beiber to feel more like me but was still not allowed to choose the clothes I wore so it was a lot of pink dresses. It's just so odd to know there was so much going on in that kids head. Their self esteem was so low and at times. I think feeling so unaligned with the feeling of being human really effected the way I view my gender but not having the words to express that as a kid is really difficult. I'm so glad to have found me and be happy with who I am now.
I asked recently about advice for staying cool at summer cons. This is the rough idea I've come up with for a weather friendly daredevil cosplay for August. Needed something I won't overheat in and I think this convays who I'm supposed to be while still being cool enough for a hot summers day. Any advice on how I can improve it? I've got 10 weeks to make 3 cosplays so it can't be too complex as I'm going to make it myself. Also I'm a wheelchair user so I'll have the DD symbol on my wheels as well.
I'm so sorry to ask this but I'm so tired and my brain is mush, I can't work out how to write this. I was at MCM comic con London yesterday and had a mostly fantastic time. I'm a wheelchair users and at the end of the day one of the security guards started pushing me towards the exit without asking me. I don't mind being pushed but I as you can expect, I want to be asked first as it's a shock to suddenly not be in charge of where your body is going. The security guard was running whilst pushing me and it gave me a fright to be going so fast, I wasn't in control and it was scary, he then let go without telling me I was going down a slight decline not realizing that I had been let go of, my hands where sweaty from the heat, I wasn't wearing gloves to grip so I couldn't get a proper hold to stop myself as quick as I wanted to. I felt out of control and was quite scared. I just want to contact the ExCeL Centre and give them some feedback I don't want to complain and cause a fuss, I just want them to know they should do some training with their security guards to not push wheelchair users without asking first as it's dangerous as well as being unpleasant for the person in the chair. I was struggling to push myself because my hands were sweaty so he probably saw me struggling and thought he was trying to help which I appreciate but actually he just scared me and I didn't like it. Can anyone help me format this into a productive and professional sounding email so it's taken seriously. I just want to email them and make them aware that this wasn't safe or the right way to go about things. Thank you palls.
