Academy's training ground on both sides were trembling heavily that day. Alver and Gilbert were taking rounds on both sides of academy.

Alver was observing the training grounds of tanks and strikers while Gilbert was observing the training grounds of mages.

Both teachers met during the lunch time to discuss about the training matches that took place in the academy.

[Alver]: "Today's training was way too intense. Some of the students were way too eager to train today. "

[Gilbert]: "That side was also a complete mess as well. Nayor completely wiped the floor with many students of his class alone. He appeared to be pushing himself to his utmost limit."

[Alver]: "He lost to Rudra in his 7th year and to Louis in 8th year. That's also a probable reason he didn't participate in 8th and 9th year."

[Alver]: "A single opportunity is what can turn the tides of battle. With these five, it can go either way. But if I were to place my bets, it would be Louis or Rudra probably."

[Gilbert]: "Hmmm I think that too --" suddenly he felt a small tremor. "Looks like they are at it again. This much training during academy time is probably the reason they both are eligible for a grade 5 ranking."

Rudra and Louis were again engaged in a hand to hand combat. Each time their fists collided, everyone in the academy felt slight tremors.

Their combat was being observed by one of the battle instructors of the academy, Mr. Hank.

Rudra leapt forward with great speed and threw a punch straight at Louis' face.

Louis ducked and safely avoided the attack by an inch and then countered with an upper cut using his left arm.

Rudra stopped the punch with his right palm. A small shock wave emerged due to it. Rudra then used his left hand to grab hold of Louis' arm and threw him into the air.

Rudra leapt into the air.

[Rudra]: "Magnum punch" Rudra poured a lot of mana to his arm and prepared for the strike"

[Louis]: "Shit. Thunder--" Louis began channeling the electricity around his body.

[Hank]: "Louis, magic is restricted!! "

Louis dispersed his magic immediately. Rudra's punch made contact with him. He was sent flying and collided with the ground.

Dust rose up around Louis.

It appears the punch didn't make contact with his torso or head as he crossed his arms to lessen the impact.

Rudra was still heading towards Louis again.

[Louis]: "Not every thing will go according to your way Rudra." Louis also headed towards Rudra with great speed.

Both thier punches collided again, creating yet another small tremor.

The punch sent Louis a few steps backwards.

Rudra was having an advantage in this battle.

Mr. Hank was quitely enjoying the entire battle. He took a look at his clock and looked back to both of them.

[Hank]: "Both of you now switch to use of weapons. Only swords, axes and spears are to be used". Hank instructed them briefly.

Both Rudra and Louis pulled out weapons from their soul pockets.

Louis brought out a sword, his signature weapon that he specialises in.

Rudra was an expert in hand to hand combat so using weapons adds nothing for him but he had to use them, as instructed by Hank.

He pulled out two small axes.

Two of them rushed towards each other.

The sound clashing of metals began.

Louis began gaining the upper hand in battle.

[Rudra]: "Dual slash" Rudra swung two axes together on Louis.

Louis stopped the attack with his sword.

The ground under his feet shattered.

[Louis]: "This much won't be enough, Rudra!! "

Louis pushed back Rudra with his sword

[Louis]: "Way of sword -- stone thrust"

Louis thrust his sword towards Rudra which he barely avoided by blocking through his axe.

Rudra fell on his back. He then backflipped to regain his stance.

Soon, it was followed by a swing of sword from Louis.

The intensity of attacks from kept increasing.

Rudra began sweating with the intense pushback from Louis' attacks.

Hank looked at the clock again.

[Hank]: "Now that another 3 minutes passed, all restrictions have been lifted. You are free to use all methods and tools now as long as it doesn't kill your opponent".

[Rudra]: "Finally, i was beginning to lose my patience here". Rudra summoned back his axes and pulled out a pair of bracelets and knuckles.

He struck the knuckles together and launched towards Louis with a smile on his face

[Louis]: " Bring it on!!! " Louis was also smiling like a maniac.

Furious clashing sounds of metals began echoing through the training grounds.

[Hank]: "Now it's what I call true amusement".

Hank was sipping on his tea while enjoying the battle as if he was watching a movie.

[Hank]: "15 more minutes and you all are to go back to your classes".

Hank informed the students and went back to the office after finishing his tea.

In the hallways of the academy, he wasn't alone. A few feet ahead of him, Ms. Becky was trying to open a door to a closed room.

He was seen by her.

[Becky]: "Oh Mr. Hank, come here and help me open this damn door."

Hank thought to himself (This damned lady will surely work me to death today)

[Hank]: "If the door won't open then why don't you try to open it with magic?"

[Becky]: "Look before you speak, Hank. This room won't open with magic."

Hank looked up to see the room name.

[Hank]: "Oh, the room for spirit summoning. The stuff inside is so useless that magic protection isn't even used for it."

[Becky]: "Don't disrespect the spirit summoning items. It's one of the most helpful gimmick for anyone in battlefield."

[Hank]: "With a 99% fail rate that is. What was the last time someone summoned a spirit in the academy? Four years probably, isn't it ?"

[Becky]: "Still, these are the formalities of the academy. And a sliver of hope for our future warriors, depending on their potential."

Hank pushed open the door with a little force.

Inside there was a summoning altar along with various other materials. The room was dusty as it hasn't been cleaned for a year.

[Becky]: "Haah, let's clean up this room first." She sighed.

Hello everyone, I am trying to write a fantasy novel and I am trying to think if I should grade characters powers in ascending or descending order ( grade 1 to 10 ).

Also, I had already written ch 1 of my novel and graded in ascending order so is that any sort of problem. Please recommend.

Usually, I see the power level of characters in descending order in most novels or other medias. But I thought of using the power level ranking in ascending order for convenience.

I would also like to know how many other ways I can use a ranking system, while excluding the typical sss, ss, s, a, b, c ranking system

I scored 615. My friend scored 617. We have around a rank difference of 500. What kinda bullshit is this
