Slight channel imbalance in recorded tapes
Picture of Sony TC-WE675 (from audioappraisal.com)
Hello, I've been recording tapes on my Sony TC-WE675 for a while now. I usually use NOS Type II tapes from brands like Sony, Maxell and TDK.
But recently, as I was playing the tapes back on my Walkmen, I noticed that the left channel was a little subdued compared to the right.
So I checked the volume level of both channels on the deck itself. The dB meters showed that the left channel was playing around 2dB lower than the right.
So just a simple trim pot adjustment would suffice right? I adjusted the trim pot for the left channel recording, and rechecked volume levels. After which, the deck's dB meter showed that both channels were equally balanced. Great.
But even after that adjustment, I still feel that the left channel is weaker than the right. Both channels also sound clear, but I'm suspecting that it could be an azimuth issue, as the left channel could be missing higher frequencies.
Would love to hear thoughts about this. Thank you!
