Relatively new player trying not to buy into "loser queue" conspiracy theory

Mobalytics: https://mobalytics.gg/lol/profile/sg/laughydawg-9415/overview

Hello everyone, I'm a Gold 2 Warwick jungle OTP with 230 hours in the game, I was Gold 1 a week or two ago. Throughout my time playing this game, I've noticed a trend where the moment I hit 50% winrate (or close to it), I get matched with players who are incredibly toxic, incredibly hardstuck, or just plain bad. I get commonly get games where I have 3 losing lanes, one mega gapped lane (usually bot), ridiculous comps with no hope of winning, or just get gapped myself (not complaining about this one). This "curse" persists for multiple games in a row, until my winrate goes back down to ~48% and I start getting balanced teams again.

I've done some research, and so far I've come across two possible explanations:

  1. The higher your MMR becomes, the more Riot matches you with bad players expecting you to carry them, and pushing the limits of your skill.

  2. A higher winrate pushes you into higher elo lobbies, so games are harder and I'm not used to the higher skill.

Both of these are fair IMO, but they dont explain things like 3 losing lanes, horrendous team comps, and increasing toxicity, all of which suddenly spike when I near 50% winrate. Maybe it's just survivor bias (or rather, the opposite).

All this to say, can some of yall take an objective look at my Mobalytics page and tell me where I'm going wrong? I'm convinced that there are more losses than I think that can be attributed to being my fault, but which at my current skill level I'm not good enough to identify. I know a summoner page doesn't give the full picture, but maybe there's a recognisable pattern.

The Swarm Master: The magical fighter guardian of the rivers

Old build:

https://www.reddit.com/r/BG3Builds/s/tMHXQ8tDYa

As an avid melee Ranger enjoyer, I fell in love with the Swarmkeeper when patch 8 released. Not only do I get a school of adorable, beautiful, spiritual jellyfishes keeping me company constantly, I also get all the utility and damage of the other Ranger classes in a playstyle that forces me to constantly adapt and fully utilise my kit. The old build born out of my love for the jellyfishes, where I found a wonderful interaction between Shocked and the Shield Bash, turning my Ranger into an undefeatable duelist. Recently, I picked up BG3 again after a year due to starting a co-op campaign, and build crafting called out to me like the childhood haunting that followed you to your adulthood. After a couple of hours of theory crafting, I believe I've came up with the perfect jellyfish melee Ranger of all my class fantasy dreams.

Stat spread:

10 STR

17 DEX (+1 from Auntie Ethel's hair)

12 CON

16 WIS

8 INT

10 CHA

OR (if this isn't your face/main character)

10 STR

17 DEX

14 CON

15 WIS

8 INT

8 CHA

(extra 2 points to put in either STR, INT or CHA)

Levelling:

1-8 Ranger Swarmkeeper, 9 Sorcerer, 10-12 Fighter Battlemaster

Level 2: Duelling, spells (hunter's mark, flex (i took longstrider))

Level 3: Swarmkeeper (jellyfish)

Level 4: ASI 18 Dex 16 Wis

Level 8: Savage Attacker

Level 9: One level dip into any sorc subclass for Booming Blade, I went with wild magic for funsies. Side note, I think if you respec so that your most recent level is Ranger, the other cantrips and spells you get from your sorc dip scale off Wis. I might be very wrong, but it's something I vaguely remember reading more than a year ago

Level 10: Defence or Protection. Protection could be fun in co-op with your girlfriend or something. No pun intended.

Level 12: Battle Master. For manouveres, pick Riposte, Evasive Footwork and Disarming attack. It's ultimately up to you, but you'll see why I pick these manouveres in the next section.

Playstyle:

The idea of this build is a fighter ranger who is extremely formidable in 1 on 1 duels, but also possessing such a versatile kit that he can adapt and control a battlefield via ranged and AOE CC. You will have naturally high AC from high Dex modifier, a shield, medium armor, and +1 from defence fighting style.

In 1 on 1 duels, you deal a lot of damage with Booming blade, disarming strike, hunter's mark, jellyfish attack, prey scent, and duelling. Fyi at level 11 assuming we're using a shortsword and without adding modifiers, that's 1d6 piercing+2d8 thunder+3d8 thunder when target moves, 1d6 piercing+1d10, 1d6 piercing, 1d6 lightning, another 1d6 lightning, and 2 from duelling. That's a possible minimum of 13-82 per turn without modifiers or bonuses from gear, or 10-58 if the target doesn't move, with savage attacker making sure you get the maximum possible damage rolls. With a +5 in Dex, this goes up to 18-87 or 15-63. To add to the Swarm Master's 1v1 potential, disarming strike can take away a humanoid's action, sacrficing damage for Shocked can take away their reaction and impose disadvantage on Dex saves which sets up easy CC from ice surfaces and some other AOE spells, and shield blow turns the rare hit against you into a mistake for the enemy due to your decent spell save DC and arcane acuity if you have it. When enemies miss against you which will be quite common, you can even spend your reaction and superiority die to riposte. I'm unsure if shield blow uses enemy STR save or DEX save, if it uses DEX save it's basically a sure hit with Shocked condition. You can even kite melee enemies while being in melee combat yourself with teleport and high movement speed, forcing them to run themselves down with booming blade, difficult terrain and having to use their action on dash to reach you.

In full battlefields, you can either lock down a single strong opponent while your team cleans up the rest, utilise your high mobility to pick off enemies on the outskirts of the battle, shoot down enemies from high ground with your superior repositioning, and/or provide battlefield control and support with spells like spike growth, fog cloud and ensnaring strike.

As for equipment, the only things I've settled on are a shield with shield blow, a finesse blade, and medium armor. Part of the purpose of making this post is to garner opinions on what equipment I could use, so please leave your suggestions!

Is 20 in your main stat compulsory?

I'm currently on the start of my 4th playthrough (400 hours as of writing), playing a level 2 melee leaning Ranger with the intention of running Swarmkeeper (it's my comfort class). My stat spread currently is:

10 STR

17 DEX

14 CON

15 WIS

10 INT

8 CHA

At level 4, I'll take ASI to get DEX to 18 and WIS to 16, and at level 8 I'll take savage attacker. I've done this build before (https://www.reddit.com/r/BG3Builds/s/3PWSNb8aJH), and I'm running it again cuz I just love it so much, but the problem this time is that I'm playing with a friend (she went with hexblade warlock) who's new to BG3 so I wanna let her have Ethel's hair. This means that even with Shar's mirror, I can't reach 20 DEX unless I take another ASI at level 12.

However, when I play this build I usually take a 1 level dip into Wild Magic Sorc for booming blade, and it makes me hit like a truck. I can also do fun things like hitting a melee opponent with booming blade, teleporting away, and watching the opponent run themselves down. So my question is, do I wanna take booming blade or ASI to get my dex to 20?

Build diversity?

Been playing the remake for around 10 hours, its my first experience of this franchise and I've been loving it so far. It's exactly my style of RPG, except one thing. I realised that build diversity seems pretty limited, you either increase strength for melee, or dex for ranged. Your playstyle largely depends on your weapon of choice, and magic seems to be supplementary like in Oblivion.

For those much more familiar with the game than I am, what are your opinions on build diversity? Is it largely dependant on which skills you invest in? Are there other ways and factors I've yet to explore to have varied builds?

Sarras Tide Pearl?

How does the Tide Pearl from the Sanctuary of Sarras DLC work? The description says it inflicts wet, but I put it on my Breaker's Edge and I'm not seeing any buildup. I have the bleed relic on my sword as well, does that affect it?

Xin's champion identity?

Hello my fellow chinese. I'm a G3 warwick OTP looking for a secondary main, I've played Xin twice now in norms and I quite enjoy him, he feels very satisfying for some reason. The two times I've played him however, I got dogwalked almost every fight and 1v1, so I'm seeking some help in understanding his identity and limits. For example:

- Does he play as a bruiser or assassin?

-Is his damage frontloaded? His damage is burst right?

- Where does the main source of his damage come from? His W?

- Should I even factor in his passive 3 AA healing in fights? I saw that he has some sustain so I tried 1v1ing a Sylas the same way I do with Warwick but it ended very badly, I feel like I should be taking the healing with Q3 and backing off till all my spells are up and they waste some.

- Is he an early game, late game or consistent champion? Are there any fights I should avoid?

- What are some of his basic combos?

VS Briar?

I find myself frequently losing 1v1s against Briar in the jungle, and I have no idea why. I dodge her pushes, but she seems to outheal my damage. I suspect I'm using my E at wrong timings, can someone explain to me that matchup and what to take note for? Her burst damage seems to be quite high, do I use E right away to negate the initial burst?

Preface, I've only watched one kamen rider show, being Kamen Rider Build.

In this world, if the shockers turned out to be real then, are the kamen riders real too? Did the showrunners of the original kamen riders somehow know of the shockers' existence and created a fictional franchise off it? Did they luck out and coincidentally create villains that actually existed in real life?

I'm on episode 6 of the anime

Been playing for around 200 hours, gold 4 Warwick OTP. Everytime I get near 50% winrate, I get a streak of seemingly impossible matchmaking, where enemy team consists of higher ranked players which leads to at least one mega losing lane, no prio, my teammates not responding to my pings and calls, me winning skirmishes but the team losing every teamfight, etc. By the time the first drake spawns, the situation looks cooked and my team is 1/4.

There's nothing I can do about shitty teammates, so what can I actually do? How do I impact the game in a way that brings my team back? Do I try to shut down whoever is strongest on enemy? Also,

- How do I gank bot? Often times, support picks some mage with no engage, and the entire bot lane is just poking each other with enemy never going past the mid line of the lane. Do I just run at them not worrying about showing on vision, just trying to deal some damage whether I get a kill or not?

- Is there anything I can do about my teammates dying when I'm not there? If enemy jg shows, I can invade the opposite side, but what about when they dont show? Do I just ignore the deaths, or do I look to impact that lane and bring them back?

-How do I get better at tracking enemy jg?

- What do I do when teammates dont look at map or respond to pings, or there's someone just split pushing the entire game?
