Seen in B&M today..

I was extremely hot today waking around B&M and to my amazement I passed by a working AC (safe to say I was glued to it for 5mins 😅) however I liked it so much that I took photos of the model so I can buy one myself but was perplexed as it was only connected to power and I didn’t see any hose attached and I thought that would be great for my flat as I couldn’t accommodate a hose 😅

Looked the model up and it should have a hose attached for it to work properly (of course, what was I thinking 😒).
Without a hose attached to vent the hot air out, it will cause it to simultaneously cool and heat the same room, resulting in zero net cooling and eventual overheating.. I mean isn’t that dangerous ?

Elvanse titration too quick?

My prescriber started me on 30mg (as I had a failed methylphenidate 2-3 day start with bad side effects so switched to Elvanse) and out of precaution she kept me on the 30mg for a month.

Had my follow up the other day where I told her I could feel the effect mainly during the first 2 weeks but gradually it decreased (could still feel it but for not as long, and not as strongly as initially, felt it was wearing off around 1pm, taken at 8:30/9am).

She suggested we go up to 70 🤯
(and if needed will give me a small booster if it starts wearing off in the afternoon like the 30s)
—> ((as I do 12hr shifts but they run longer sometimes and essentially on work days I’m up at 4am and get home around 7pm if lucky, so I’ll need it to last me enough on days like that))

She gave me 50mg for one week and then 70mg thereafter.
I was a bit nervous to do such a big (seemingly) jump. I’ve always thought titrating would be in 10s increments.

How has anyone’s experience been doing that jump? How did you feel? And did you end up getting a boaster for the PM?
Did you end up ‘getting used to’ the drug and it didn’t have such a big impact anymore?

TIA 🫶
from a very huge fellow overthinker 🥲

Anyone on here with operational tolerance?

Curious to know how many if any on here are lucky to have operational tolerance (not on immunosuppressants) 👀

TLDR;
My tx was 16 years ago. I was at uni when it happened (never had liver or medical issues prior, paracetamol toxicity so tx was an emergency one)

My body was in a shock post tx, stayed in the hospital for a month. I was probably on 15pills a day if not more. Gagged every time I had to take them.

Had all the Horrid side effects as you would think, and had blood tests monthly. Adjusting of doses, in the beginning I had stenosis so had multiple endoscopies, stents, and at the end a ballon, and after the balloon was out it was ok.

For the first couple to 3 years I took the medication with occasionally missing doses (adhd brain but now I know, I didn’t then). Felt awful though and quality of life was terrible for a young person. Slowly I started missing more and more doses, and only took them when I was nearing bloods so my levels seemed ok..

Anyhoo, fast forward to 10 years post tx, got pregnant and completely stopped them (was on a low dose advagraf3-4mg, and 75mg azathioprine) as I didn’t want them To affect the baby. Obviously docs didn’t agree and tried to reiterate they are safe for the baby.

My tx stopped inviting me to appointments as I stopped taking the meds. I have been getting regular bloods done and all have been good.
It’s been 5,5years.

I recently got diagnosed with adhd and got put on a stimulant (obviously checking the liver tests first).

Tbh I want to be in contact with the tx team again but I’m in two minds as all the docs would just be rude to me and tell me off etc (I’ve experienced it already years ago by one of the docs there)

Note - This post is not about getting anyone to not take their meds! I’ve done it against docs advice so don’t do like me!

Read this study and it’s fascinating to see
🫴 An interesting read on operational tolerance post liver transplantation

Protocols in the UK?

I’ve been seeing a lot of posts with ladies being on spiro, OM (+fin or dut). My derm referral was refused and basically I can only deal with the GP surgery and beg them to help.
I saw a locum GP there 3 months ago and when I mentioned spiro/fin/dut she rejected the idea and said they don’t do that and only said she could give me OM if I wanted to but told me to wait and change my diet and get a fringe/bangs

Well today, 3 months later it’s a lot worse than when I went. Now I can easily see my scalp. I had to beg them to get more blood tests including hormonal (and the ones they ordered were DHEA, FE, LFSH, PROL, SHBG
DHEAS, Iron studies, LH & FSH, Prolactin

Has anyone from the UK been treated successfully by the GP and given OM and spiro (fin or dut if needed Too) ??

I wish I could afford a private derm and treatment but alas and I feel so let down by the HCPs so far..

Gen3 Brushed Rose Gold 3 days later…

Excitedly I posted here straight after I received the ring. It’s my first smart ring. I only try and take it off when I wash my hands or shower (so far I’ve done that 80%)

I started wearing it in the evening of the 12th. Yesterday (14th) technically on the 2nd full day of wearing it I noticed it has already been scratched at the bottom, and in some spots the coating has kind of come off..

It’s extremely difficult to capture in photos or video but I’ve tried my best.

Is this normal?? I mean,I don’t know what I expected but for £410 I’m really disappointed and unhappy.
I’m contemplating returning just on that basis so far..

Brushed Rose Gold gen 3 arrived!

The colour is gorgeous! Hopefully won’t fade or get scratched but I’m planning to buy a protector, and some stacking rings 🙃

My skin tone is fair but has been usually described as olive skin by everyone I’ve met and know. So this is what the brushed rose gold looks like on olive skin 😄 size 7.

The size is slightly lower than the sizing kit - whilst the 7 from the kit felt just a tad tight but 8 was crazy big I’m happy I went with 7 cause it feels great.

Battery says 11 days but we shall see I guess.

Stains from silicone scar gel on clothing

Hi all

My little one went in for a hug when I was wearing a polyester jacket and he had silicone scar gel applied in a few spots on his face and stained my jacket.

I have used every single stain remover I have .. Asevi stain remover, 1001 per stain remover, even the HG upholstery stain remover..
Tried soaking it in a tub with Napisan powder, tried faith washing liquid, Dr Beckmann stain remover… Ran it through a wash with fairy capsules (that allegedly remove tough stains)

First photo - one of the stains (jacket is still drying from the wash I ran it through, but when it dries all the other stains will show up too)
Second photo - Jacket’s inside label
3rd photo - the silicone gel culprit and it’s ingredient list (dermatix brand)

Please help me save my favourite jacket 😭😫

PS I’m UK based

Lowest OM dose ?

I’ve requested to be prescribed OM by the GP as last time I suggested it she said she is happy to prescribe it but told me to wait and see how it goes without anything , but since seeing her my hair has thinned out extremely.

I’m scared of the generalised body hair side effect (as I’m usually quite hairy everywhere else BUT my head it seems like.) I have been doing IPL at home for the last 12 years, everywhere except my head 😆

My question is due to that potential side effect has anyone been or is on lowest dose OM but split in half even? Just to reduce the potential excessive body hair?
Or the splitting would not be as efficient as the full low dose?

Any thoughts?

(I also asked the GP to do hormonal bloods to see if I might need a dht blocker too.. as otherwise OM is pointless if dht is the cause in the first place.)

I’d be happy to hear experiences 🙃

PS - I’m in the UK and my derm referral was refused as consultant said it’s probably TE and that could be dealt with in the community (by the GP) 😞
I saw the GP after that and she just said get bangs to cover your large forehead (my hairline has recessed a lot..) and eat healthy. 😒

Possible savings?

I’m about to get my first smart ring (another brand) delivered but I’m also eyeing up the oura 5 because of its size .. I’ll probably somehow will swallow the fact there’s a £60 subscription because of it 🥲

I wanted the deep rose or stealth gold finish but they’re £499 🤯

From previous experiences do they do discounts /deals on like Black Friday, Xmas or at any time?
Also When would be more likely for the price to drop if at all? (except for when the next gen is out)

I’m wondering if I should wait a bit but if there’s no discounts etc down the line I probably would get it now..

Elvanse 30mg… y’all. What!!! 🤯 (lisdexamfetamine)

I received my diagnosis in April.
Started AffenidXL almost end of May. Took it for 2 days and had high bp, palpitations and chest pain for the first time in my life. Left me tachy for a couple of days after the last dose but all was well in the end.

I felt SOOO disappointed that it didn’t work for me and it felt as if that was my only chance and if this didn’t work none of them would (not the case logically, I know but it didn’t stop me from feeling that way 😅)

Anyhoooo, got switched to Elvanse 30mg and.. WHAT !!! 🤯

I loved reading stories about when people started meds and how they felt when it worked for them so I thought I’d share too (and ask for some advice in the meantime)

🔆Took it around 10.15 am, straight after that I fixated on finding a crochet pattern for a Top I liked and went down the rabbit hole.. Around an hour later as if someone played puppeteer with me. I locked my phone, and went straight to what I’ve been overwhelmed with for YEARS and haven’t been able to do. Didn’t even think about it, it was so mechanical! Was raining outside but to me it felt like the sun was shining, birds were chirping 😅

I caught myself organising and tidying up for like 6 hours straight! It felt like I had the.. WILL to do it all. I have never felt that 😭
I felt determination, focus, and had clearer mind
(still had the racing thoughts but they were structured more clearly and still got distracted from time to time but it was a distraction related to the organising and it felt much easier going to the main big task)

At no point I felt the need to sit down, look at my phone or do anything except what I was meaning to do for so long.
I washed my hair, I cleaned and I was so much more patient I feel like whereas usually I’m extreeeemly short fused 🥲

It’s exhilarating! I could actually cry 😭 I thought to myself if this is what a ‘normal ‘ person feels like - life is definitely not fair 🥺

I’m suspecting I have a Touch of the Tism too as my heart aches for organisation, structure, routine etc etc but the Brian is not braining and here we are 🤷🏻‍♀️😅

❕The side effect I had was dry mouth but that’s probably my fault as I barely drank anything the whole day. I knew I had to but was so focused to do my things and wanted To do as much as possible before the meds wear off 🥲
I also haven’t felt like eating which is another good thing as I struggled with food noise/junk food/binge eating etc

❔I read this might be a honeymoon phase and will blow over..
Would love some tips on how to prolong it or keep it in the best case. I’ve read conflicting opinions for some it works if they take a break, but some say they have never taken a break from it.

📝(Also on The leaflet do they mean taking a break as well as it is written ‘ it’s not supposed to be taking forever’ .. I mean.. as if your brain will magically rearrange itself to become neurotypical hehe)

Diagnosis by a GP? Is it possible?

Would a GP/or a nurse practitioner be able to diagnose lipedema? And in best case scenario if they do, would they be able to prescribe trizapetide for it? I’ve read it helps with inflammation. Anyone on here who has successfully managed to go through that route?

Fraudulent blue badge use..how to report?

How do I report someone who is using (either a stolen or definitely not his ) blue badge?
I know the car make model and reg, have photos of it and the blue badge seen on his dash but I can’t get close enough to photograph the actual badge number
as he would see me. (It’s also an old style blue badge)

Who can I report it to because I tried Ealing parking services’ email but have had no reply or acknowledgement whatsoever.

Retentions line directed me to another number?

Just called the retentions number that many on here said it’s worked for them (0203 743 6947). I don’t have internet currently for some reason and when I called and told them I’m leaving them the guy said “I can’t log in now cause our systems are down so call 0345 454 1111 after 3pm”

I looked the number up in here and many have complained about it and it seems to be their call centre in Asia? I’m a bit confused and don’t know what should I do later, try the 0203 one after 3 or speak to the 0345 directly..

Recently got my dx and Was about to be prescribed the prolonged release methylphenidate (forgot the brand) but was told they want to speak to the neuro consultant first (as I have my first ever neuro appt coming up soon) because I’m on 70mg Amitriptyline for migraine prevention and Zolmitriptan when needed. In the beginning when I started taking it Aside from the slight drowsiness when taken (which I don’t feel anymore tbh), I’ve had no side effects on it alone but they’re worried it might cause Serotonin syndrome or other potential risks.

Has anyone ever had to stop the triptans in order to get the adhd meds ? Or has anyone been successfully prescribed and taking both with no side effects?

I’m so frustrated as it took 3 years to get me to this point (since my initial adhd referral) and now there will be an even further delay.
