Hey everyone! I’m a 27-year-old solo traveler planning my first major backpacking trip to Nepal. I'm a total beginner when it comes to trekking—the maximum I've ever done is a 16 km trek in Kodaikanal.

I’m working with a ₹75k INR budget and a 25-day timeline. I've mapped out a route that mixes culture, an accessible beginner-friendly trek, and some nature. I'd love to get feedback from locals or travelers who've done this route to see if it's realistic for a first-timer.

The Route:

Entry: Gorakhpur ➔ Sunauli Border

Stops: Lumbini ➔ Tansen (Palpa) ➔ Pokhara ➔ Mardi Himal Trek ➔ [Weather Dependent Branch] (Option A: Lower Mustang via Jomsom/Muktinath OR Option B: Adventure sports in Pokhara) ➔ Bandipur ➔ Chitwan National Park ➔ Kathmandu ➔ Nagarkot

Exit: Return via Sunauli / Gorakhpur back to India.

What I Need Advice On:

Mardi Himal for a Beginner: Given that my max experience is a 16 km day trek in South India, is the 5-day Mardi Himal route manageable if I walk slow, or should I prep differently? (I'm skipping ABC since it feels too intense for a first-timer).

The Mustang Pivot: I want to check out Jomsom and Muktinath for the landscape, but I'm worried about the cold and extreme winds. If the weather is bad, I plan to pivot to Pokhara adventure sports instead. Does that sound like a smart backup?

Pacing: Does adding Tansen between Lumbini and Pokhara help break up the travel, or is it better to go straight to Pokhara?

Any tips on local food spots, budget hostels, or border crossing advice would be awesome. Thanks!

Wrapping up my work contract in early Feb 2027 and taking a full 30 days (Feb 10 – March 10 approx) for a solo trip before transitioning to my next job.

About me & travel history:

• From South India (27M).

• Have explored coastal routes (Goa) and major hill stations in Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

• First time doing an extended 30-day solo backpacking trip outside the South.

• Looking for something genuinely new—nature, hiking, culture, and meeting fellow travelers.

I’m torn between two directions for February–March:

1. North East (Meghalaya + Arunachal or Sikkim)

Root bridges, canyon hikes, offbeat trails, clear rivers.

Doubt: How doable is this solo via shared sumos and buses? I don't want to get stuck bleeding money on private cabs every day.

2. The Classic North Circuit (Rajasthan + Kashmir + Rishikesh/Himachal)

Thar desert dunes, snow in Gulmarg/Kashmir, cafes and rafting in Rishikesh.

Is 30 days in NE smooth to manage solo on a budget, or is North India way less of a headache logistically?

Showroom & Buying Experience: How is the purchasing/delivery experience at local dealers like Ganesh Motors (Katpadi) or Navin Motors? Are they responsive with test rides and booking timelines?

After-Sales Service & Parts: How is the local Hero service quality in Vellore for liquid-cooled / higher-CC bikes? Are spare parts readily available, or do they take weeks to arrive?

Vellore Traffic & Heat: How does the Xpulse 210 handle peak afternoon heat, traffic, and bad road patches around town? Any radiator fan/heating issues in crawling traffic?

Mechanic Recommendations: If not official service centers, are there reliable local mechanics/fellas in Vellore who know their way around Xpulse models?
