I know he loved and kept animals of all kinds including monkeys and tigers and llamas but was he know for preferring the company of cats or dogs?

Me and my girlfriend have been dealing with a mice infestation throughout her whole housing block (she lives in a townhouse type building) we have been using glue traps to reduce them but they still show up. Everyone else in the house is very worried about disease so I’m usually the one who throws them out which I don’t mind, I do find it sad watching them wriggle and look scared and knowing birds are going to dissect them so I pryed one off the glue trap and released it outside before throwing the trap away. It looked injured and ran under a car and there are many cats in her neighboorhood. When I told her she was mad and said they will find their way back and I wasted a trap. I googled it and they can come back as far as 3 miles away. Is it likely it will come back into our house or do I not have much to worry about. Also is there any alternatives that work as well as glue traps without effectively torturing them, I don’t know why I care as I am usually pretty ambivalent about small animals dying but I get pretty sad every time.
