Looking for guidance on recommended device to make calls/texts when out of iPhone range while hiking in So Cal

My senior husband does light 2 hour hikes on well established trails in So Cal several mornings a week. Some of the time during his hikes he is out of iPhone connection range. I would like to get him a gift that would enable him to contact home if he sprains his ankle or gets bitten by a rattlesnake or some other reasonably possible circumstance in So Cal. He would want something easy to hook up and use or he won’t use it. Willing to pay for a nice one for his bday gift. Too many choices. Any recs?

Is it worth it to get AWD over Standard on this car?

It’s not the type of car go off road but maybe there’s other benefits? We might want to tow e-bikes on a small trailer - is that a consideration?

Looking for nx350h f sport in infared and was told I will need to put down a deposit and wait up to 2 months. Should I just wait to see the 2027 model?

I heard they are doing a refresh on the model and it occurs to me if I can wait 2 months I guess I can wait 2 or 3 more months though it’s starting to be a long time . But I worry I will regret it if I love the 2027 over the 2026 . I’m working with the Costco Auto Pgm bc I hate to negotiate with car salespeople.

Pharmacy dispensed wrong dosage of zepbound and refusing to reimburse

Wondering if this has happened to anyone but I picked up my zepbound from CVS and without noticing they gave me the previous dosage of 5.0, not the one I’m upgraded to - 7.5 - and the one of my doctors most recent prescription. When I contacted them they blamed me for not noticing and said they wouldn’t take it back and wouldn’t reimburse me - this is hundreds of dollars. I can’t believe how unfair and now I have 4 pens of medication and looking at how to jerryrig it into an increased dose.

How to utilize excess medication at end of zepbound pens

Is there a way to utilize the excess medication at the end of either the regular or quik pens? Otherwise it seems like medication is wasted.

Cognitive test at doctors is a little rinky dink

I told my regular doctor that I would like to take a cognitive test as a baseline. She gave me an iPad with a 10 minute test asking me to match things and remember words. I scored “above average” but I really thought there was no way the test could provide meaningful results other than - if you can’t do well on it you’re probably in trouble. Does anyone know of a specific test you can ask to take that would better assess your executive functioning, memory, and other cognitive abilities?

Does anyone know the recommended weaning off approach of zepbound?

I’m a low responder but hoping to meet my goal in a couple months, then maintain for a couple months then thinking I should do a month of each lower dose until not using - but maybe that’s too careful? I know some people just stop.

Mom worried son will join Marines without warning

My son just graduated from high school and his whole life has always hated school so has no interest in college. He has no idea what he wants to do and any job he would qualify for (i.e. no qualifications, at this point) holds no appeal. He keeps talking about the military esp Marines bc he says Marines are the only branch where everyone seems to be proud of their service. We live in So Cal and he is relatively sheltered and an only child. He was on HS wrestling team so physically fit but I worry he will sign up for 4 (or is it 6?) years and in a matter of days wake up in another state, lonely and scared saying “What did I do????” How can he get good advice if we don’t know any Marines? (And I think we all know recruiters are biased). Thanks.

Supplements for anti aging?

I don’t have any vitamin deficiencies or particular health issues (knock on wood). I try to exercise regularly. I hear that creatine and collagen are two supplements that should be taken by women our age. Creatine for brain and muscle health. Collagen for skin, hair, etc. What supplements are others taking and do they actually work?
