Two years since I started writing my story, my MC finally received his first Pokemon

When I started writing "A Jeweler's Guide to Living in Paradise," I already knew that my MC getting his first Pokemon would be a long process with a big payoff. After two years of on-and-off writing, I think I can say that I managed to accomplish it. I learned a lot of things along the way, both in terms of my writing skill and where I wanted to take the story next. Reaching this point felt so liberating; with how long it's taken up to this point, I can finally progress the story without worrying about my MC still being at school for his license and not having a Pokemon.

I'd like to thank my many readers and support they've given me while writing this story. I hope to continue bringing as much enjoyment as you guys have experienced so far as I continue to write. Thank you.

Question about this game from someone who wants to play it

I really want to give this game a try, since it's so iconic and popular. In your opinion, how welcoming is the general public playerbase towards beginners in campaign? I'm basically entering this game blind in regards to mechanics outside of how the special infected work.

When Toki was planned to be successor, he wanted to focus HSK onto its medical purposes. IIRC, only the successor can teach HSK to others. Then, in Toki Gaiden, Toki also says that he's against teaching HSK to others, even if they wanted to learn the medical side of it, since it's a bloodstained art and he doesn't want others involved in its deadly fate. Of course, this is after he's no longer successor and in a different, much harsher environment.

That did have me wondering, if the nuclear war never happened, how do you think Toki would've instructed and spread HSK? Would he make the art (at least knowledge of pressure points and its medical applications, not the assassination stuff) more widely known to increase the amount of people who could benefit from it? Or would he retain the more strict and narrow teaching style Ryuken used, since at its core, HSK was an assassination art?
