Bought Wildlands & Breakpoint on sale... why does Breakpoint run so badly?

I picked up both Ghost Recon Wildlands and Ghost Recon Breakpoint during the recent sale. I'm currently playing through Wildlands and honestly, I'm having a great time.

A few years ago I tried the Breakpoint demo, but I never bought the full game until now. After finally installing it, I'm honestly confused.

My specs:

  • AMD Ryzen 9 8940HX
  • RTX 5060 Laptop GPU
  • 16GB DDR5 RAM

I've genuinely never had performance issues like this in any other game. I usually play modern AAA titles at max settings, and sometimes even heavily modded. For example, I heavily modded Cyberpunk 2077 to make it look much more photorealistic, and it still ran without any major issues.

What surprised me is that even Wildlands doesn't run as well as I'd expect. I'm usually getting around 50-60 FPS. Sometimes it feels smooth, other times it feels really inconsistent. I've mostly accepted it because I'm enjoying the game. I am aware that these games on launch had a lot of issues, specifically how they were optimized and how badly the ran on systems.

But Breakpoint is on another level. It honestly looks worse than Wildlands in my opinion, yet somehow runs even worse. On top of that, Ubisoft Connect keeps throwing up low RAM warnings, which makes no sense to me. I can run far more demanding games with Discord, Chrome, Spotify, and other background apps open without ever seeing a low memory warning.

Is this game just notoriously poorly optimized on PC, or is there something I'm missing?

Has anyone found any fixes? Settings tweaks? Vulkan vs DX11? Anything that actually helps?

I'd really like to play Breakpoint because I honestly can't find many other open-world stealth tactical shooters that scratch the same itch.

Hey everyone,

I'm looking for a pair of powered speakers for my bedroom (around 150 sq ft) and could really use some recommendations.

Budget

30k inr max (can stretch a tiny bit if it's genuinely worth it)

Primary use: 75% Music and movies.

Music I listen to

- Pink Floyd

- Radiohead

- Classic Rock

- Blues

- Alternative Rock

- Some indie and acoustic

- Metal and RnB

- EDM

What I'm looking for

- Warm, natural sound (not clinical or harsh)

- Excellent detail and clarity

- Wide stereo imaging/soundstage (I know it won't be true surround, but I want an immersive presentation)

- Clear vocals and instrument separation

- Tight, controlled bass, not overpowering or muddy

- Good for long listening sessions without fatigue

Gaming

I mostly play immersive single-player games like Cyberpunk 2077, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, and other RPGs. I'm not an esports/FPS player, so I care more about immersion and environmental audio than competitive footsteps.

Connectivity

I'll mainly connect them to my Windows laptop, but Bluetooth would be a nice bonus (not a requirement).

Would this be a good choice for a entry level setup? As am new to this stuff, or any other speakers or amps that y'all reccomend?

Thanks!

Best powered speakers under ₹20,000 for music first, gaming second? (Considering Edifier MR4) Am new to this stuff.

Budget

20,000 inr(210usd) max (can stretch a tiny bit if it's genuinely worth it)

Primary use: 75% Music 25% Gaming

I don't really watch movies, so music is the priority.

What I'm considering

Right now I'm leaning towards the Edifier MR4, since a lot of people recommend it for clarity and balanced sound.

Would you still recommend the MR4, or are there better options around ₹20k? I'm also open to studio monitors if they fit my preferences.

Thanks!

Just bought Silent Hill 2 Remake on the Steam Summer Sale. Looking for more horror games with this specific vibe.

Just picked up Silent Hill 2 Remake during the Steam Summer Sale and I just finished it.

So far I've played the Resident Evil games, The Evil Within, Blair Witch and Outlast. I realized the kind of horror I enjoy isn't just constant jumpscares, it's that really uncanny, unsettling feeling that just sticks with you.

I'm looking for games with:

  • Uncanny/psychological horror
  • Great soundtrack/music
  • Incredible storytelling
  • Good visuals and solid gameplay
  • Actually scary
  • Settings like deserted towns, countryside villages, forests, campsites, mountains, lakes, village folklore etc. Basically isolated places with a creepy atmosphere.

I'm not really looking for action heavy games, though am fine with re2 and re 7 lvl action. I want something where the atmosphere does most of the work and you constantly feel uneasy.

Any recommendations? Doesn't matter if it's indie or AAA. Hidden gems are welcome too. Thanks.

Just finished FF7 Remake and started Rebirth, and I'm confused as hell

So FF7 Remake was my first Final Fantasy game ever. I bought it like 4 days ago, got completely addicted, finished it today, and immediately started Rebirth.

I really enjoyed Remake, but man, that ending left me confused.

From what I understood, the Whispers were basically trying to keep destiny/fate on a certain path, right? And then the party fights them and wins. So does that mean they actually changed destiny and set a completely different future in motion? Or did I totally misunderstand what happened?

Then there's Zack.

Who tf is Zack? 😭

I remember seeing him at the end of Remake and being confused, and now in Rebirth I'm even more confused because he's carrying Cloud around.

Is that another Cloud? Is it the same Cloud from the main story? Is Zack in the past? Is it another timeline? A different reality? A flashback? I genuinely have no idea what I'm looking at.

Another thing that confused me was the start of Rebirth. At the end of Remake it felt like everyone escaped Midgar and things were relatively fine, but then at the beginning of Rebirth Aerith, Barret, Red and everyone seem to be hurt, trapped, captured, or stuck under rubble. Did I miss something?

Please don't spoil anything major from Rebirth or the original FF7. I'm trying really hard not to Google stuff because I know this series has some huge reveals and I don't want to ruin them for myself.

I just want to know what I'm actually supposed to understand at this point and what is intentionally meant to be confusing.

New to Final Fantasy — Started FF7 Remake, bought Rebirth too. What should I expect going forward?

Hey everyone,

I’m completely new to Final Fantasy and JRPGs in general. I recently bought both Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and I’ve gone into them almost completely blind.

For some context, the kinds of games I usually play are things like:

  • Monster Hunter World (love the gear progression and combat mastery)
  • Dragon’s Dogma (exploration, combat, RPG progression)
  • Resident Evil games
  • Warframe
  • Fallout
  • Dying light
  • KCD
  • Witcher
  • Crimson desert
  • CP 2077
  • MGS
  • Division
  • POE
  • NFS
  • Call of Duty
  • Batman Arkham
  • Open-world RPGs and action games in general

I’m currently in Chapter 5 of FF7 Remake and so far I’m having fun. The combat is definitely growing on me, and the characters are interesting. However, there are also a few things that have put me off a little, such as some of the slower sections, the restricted movement, even though the environment's look really really good, it doesn't feel as alive or that there is much to do and the more linear structure so far.

Because I know basically nothing about Final Fantasy, I wanted to ask:

  • What is the main gameplay loop of these games?
  • What should I expect from Remake and then Rebirth as they progress?
  • Are these games mainly about the story and characters, or does the gameplay depth become a big part of the experience too?
  • How important are builds, Materia setups, side content, and exploration?
  • Is Rebirth significantly different from Remake in terms of freedom and exploration?
  • Are these games generally best experienced completely blind, or should I be looking up guides for important missables/builds?
  • Based on the games I listed above, do you think FF7 Remake/Rebirth are the kinds of games that someone like me would enjoy long-term?

I’m trying to understand what makes these games special and what fans love most about them. No spoilers, I genuinely have no idea where the story is going.

One other thing I'm curious about is the overall reception of these games.

Before buying them, I kept seeing two completely different opinions online. On one side, people were calling Remake and Rebirth some of the best RPGs they've ever played, praising the characters, combat, world building, and emotional story. On the other side, I saw a lot of criticism about bloated content, repetitive side activities, filler sections, and complaints that the games don't do the original FF7 justice. I've also seen people say that a lot of the newly added story content and changes either weaken the original story or feel unnecessary.

As someone with no attachment to the original FF7, I'm not really sure what's true and what's just fanbase disagreements. Is the criticism mostly coming from longtime fans comparing it to the original, or do newcomers tend to feel the same way? Are the side quests and open-world activities actually enjoyable, or are they the kind of content that's better skipped unless you're a completionist?

Since I'm experiencing these games without any nostalgia for the original, I'd be interested to hear what longtime fans and newcomers alike think. Does the series live up to the hype, and what do you think someone in my position should know going in?

New to Gothic: Why Is This Series So Highly Regarded?

Hey guys,

I've never played a Gothic game before, but when the Gothic Remake was announced, it immediately caught my attention. Before that, all I really knew was that it was a dark fantasy open-world RPG. Beyond that, I knew almost nothing about the series.

I play a lot of RPGs, especially open-world ones, and lately it feels like there haven't been many that really grab me with a strong premise, meaningful progression, and deep RPG mechanics. I've spent hundreds of hours in Bethesda games over the years, but honestly they've lost a lot of what made them special to me. Because of that, I started looking into older RPG franchises that people still talk about today, and Gothic kept coming up.

After doing some research, I found out the original games were developed by Piranha Bytes, a relatively small German developers. What surprised me was how influential the series seems to have been. A lot of people describe Gothic as one of those RPGs that helped shape many of the design philosophies we now see in modern open-world RPGs. The emphasis on world reactivity, faction progression, exploration, and player freedom sounds exactly like the kind of thing I've been missing.

From what I've gathered, Gothic 1 and especially Gothic 2 are considered classics, with Gothic 2 often being regarded as the peak of the trilogy. I've heard the world feels dangerous, NPCs have daily routines, progression is earned rather than handed to you, and joining a faction is a major commitment that actually changes your experience. That all sounds pretty refreshing compared to a lot of modern RPGs.

I've already pre-ordered the remake and I'm really looking forward to it. I also plan on picking up the original trilogy whenever it goes on sale. Hopefully that'll happen around the remake's release.

So for the longtime fans here, what exactly should I expect from the remake?

How deep are the RPG mechanics? How many factions are there and how much do they affect gameplay? What's the gear progression like? Are there crime systems, reputation systems, meaningful choices, hidden quests, and different ways to approach situations? How large is the world compared to modern RPGs, and does it focus more on handcrafted content rather than sheer size? What are the enemy varieties like, and how challenging is the game generally?

Basically, what are the things that made Gothic such a beloved series in the first place, and what should a complete newcomer like me be most excited for? What Makes Gothic Different From Other Open-World RPGs?

TL;DR: Never played Gothic before, but after researching the series and learning about its reputation as one of the most influential RPG franchises, I pre-ordered the remake and plan to play the original games as well. What should a complete newcomer expect in terms of factions, RPG depth, progression, quests, world design, combat, and overall gameplay? What made Gothic such a beloved series in the first place?

Edit: I am quite concerned about the technical state of the game. As the steam requirements show that its quite demanding. And I heard the demo wasn't that great either. Does anyone have any idea as to how optimized the game is now? And for 1440p gaming what can I expect, I have 16 gigs of ram and a rtx 5060.

Just Finished Dragon's Dogma 2

https://preview.redd.it/m70uglu4z15h1.jpg?width=2560&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=109240f7779b1f64e5bb3e8258b577b2ff78d50d

Just rolled credits on Dragon's Dogma 2 and honestly, I'm gonna miss this game.

This game really scratched that itch and turned into countless hours of getting lost, fighting things I probably wasn't prepared to fight, getting thrown off cliffs, and watching my pawns make some of the stupidest decisions imaginable.

The game isn't perfect. It can be frustrating, weird, and sometimes feels like it's actively working against you. But that's also what makes it memorable. Every journey felt like an actual adventure rather than a checklist of objectives. I'd set out to do one thing and end up halfway across the map fighting for my life because I got distracted by a cave or some monster in the distance. Even though the enemy spawns were kinda annoying.

The Unmoored World was one of those moments where I just sat there and thought, "Well, this got a lot bigger than I expected." Honestly, wish when the unmoored world began it was a new or completely different map with more side quests and main quests equivalent to the first half of the game or even more, that would have honestly let us spend more time in the unmoored world and at the same time slowly unravel the main plot without rushing, with new characters, more quests, new locations.

Still I liked it though, I was kinda stressed at the end as I was fighting multiple bosses at once and it was getting very stressful and hard. I ended up exploring and getting all the missable good gear, defeating the 4 mini bosses all in 4 days. Gosh honestly wish it lasted longer.

I don't think I'll remember every quest or every piece of loot I picked up, but I'll definitely remember the feeling of exploring the world for the first time, seeing a giant monster on the horizon, and deciding it was either going to be the best or worst decision of the day.

Now I've got that weird post-game emptiness where I keep opening my library and staring at my games wondering what could possibly follow that experience. On top of that I finished KCD2 two days ago, honestly both games were the absolute best. I started New gameplus in dd2 and kcd2 hardcore mode, gonna do another runthrough.

Lowk, 10/10 pawn-induced anxiety simulator.

What were your favorite moments from the game?

Is there a COMPLETE checklist/list of every quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2? (Main, side, hidden, unmarked, missable, etc.)

I’ve been trying to make my own full DD2 quest checklist and I keep finding conflicting info from different sources like Fextralife, Steam guides, wiki pages, etc.

Some lists miss quests, some classify quests differently, and some don’t include hidden/unmarked stuff or quests tied to affinity/world state changes.

Does anyone have:

  • a COMPLETE checklist
  • all main quests
  • all side quests
  • hidden/unmarked quests
  • missable quests
  • romance questlines
  • post-game / Unmoored World quests
  • smaller trigger/event quests if those count too

Basically I’m trying to 100% the game and don’t wanna accidentally miss content because Feast of Deception and other quests keep locking stuff out.

Currently am using a spreadsheet made by another user but it is missing few quests: for reference this is the one that am using:

https://preview.redd.it/ufiqgcw4hw3h1.png?width=1434&format=png&auto=webp&s=d700630d98c4d0c526021d5699525bd86ea19b3e

Would really appreciate:

  • spreadsheets
  • PDFs
  • Steam guides
  • Reddit posts
  • personal checklists
  • completionist routes
  • anything reliable honestly

Thanks

Has Anyone Actually Reached Level 999 Yet in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

Genuinely curious, has anyone here actually hit the level cap (999) in Dragon's Dogma 2 yet?

I’ve been playing a ton and my level still feels nowhere near that(lvl 60). Makes me wonder if anybody has actually reached it legit without mods/cheats.

What level are you guys currently at, and how many hours do you have?
