Small oregon state school for film(little to no debt) or unrelated degree and self fund?

Hello I am currently located in a small town in Oregon. The top rated school for film in Oregon is at Southern Oregon University in Ashland. Due to being poor I get both the federal and state grant making my tuition 0. My dream dream since I was in 5th grade has always been to direct horror films.

Me and my friends would always be running around with cameras shooting ghost hunter films with my shitty keyboard phone. But of course once I hit 16 the expectations in my life were to start focusing on getting a "real career" and it just got put on the backburner until i met my fiance. Their family is the polar opposite of mine. My father in law pursued art, culinary school, tattooing, was a teacher at an art school in california for film and now owns his own business. So they've shown me a different life in pursuing your creative dreams that my family always said was a waste of time and money.

My options currently are SoH for film with no tuition and small student loans just for housing or getting a degree in something unrelated and self funding myself. My father in law has a house full of professional film equipment and software he'll allow me to borrow on either path I take so that is a financial plus for me. I've also heard that SoH film has an active film market and hands on training but I'm worried about it since it's not located in california. Any advice and insight would be appreciated.

Most underrated scene from that had my heart beating.

Honestly surprised I don't see this scene talked about more. Watching her head slowly turn and just stare at them for the entire conversation was tense. Even through the blur you can tell she's just not budging.

I know in a later scene ian mentions she just thought they were talking about her but you can see the customer walk up with headphones on and she just keeps staring at them ignoring the person. Honestly thought in between camera cuts she was just gonna pop up behind bear.

How difficult is getting through the hcc engineering academy into computer science?

Hello, I messed up by not caring in high school and do not have the gpa to get in. I will be going to HCC in hopes of getting into the engineering academy for computer science. I will say I'm slower at understanding math than I'd like to be so I'm a bit worried but willing to put in the work. Is this a feasible goal or extremely competitive? Is there any advice or tips anyone can give?

Is the dating/ work culture of an examiners office as bad as a hospital?

Hello I am a current biology student whos interested in forensic pathology (I know I'm years away and may change my mind in medical school). I've heard plenty of stories of the cesspool that is the hospitals and clinics. Doctors and doctors, Doctors and nurses, cheating and high divorce rates etc. To me it sounds like a toxic work environment being around that all day. What is the experience like in a medical examiners office?

Do state troopers get lonely?

I've been watching bodycam footage and reading articles on Texas dps and my surrounding departments and was just wondering if being a state trooper was lonely.

Seems like most local agencies are responding to all kinds of calls within their communities, going to events, off duty contracts and have plenty of co workers you're around. What about the state troopers though? Are you just sitting alone all day/night on the highway? Do you make friends with your co workers and communities?

Harris County Sheriff or Houston Police?

Hello I am looking to apply for HCSO or HPD. Both departments seem to have reviews that are outdated by a bit. Does anyone have any info on which department would be best to work for? Most old reviews mention HCSO is understaffed and overworked but their ride along videos look very interesting. And hpd has a lack of videos and information online showing their day to day. I plan on doing a ride along with both but am just looking for any information.

I (24M) don't know how to break up with my partner (24F)

Hello, for context me and my partner met when I was 19 online. I didn't know where or what I wanted to do with life so I made the decision to move across the country to live with their family.

Our original plan was to move to a major city nearby, work and go to school together as they were having family issues. But things changed and I've been living with the whole family for 4 years now.

Their family in my opinion is extremely toxic, or maybe I'm just not used to their family dynamics. I come from a relatively normal middle class family with personalities that tend to just be calm and optimistic all the time. Their family on the others hand is and since i moved in been the opposite.

Almost every day for the last 4 years one of the in laws is yelling and cussing out the other one over small stuff. And to them its just them having "high expectations" for everyone. They're always so angry and toxic over everything. All day. Wake up to yelling, hear angry rants about politics, hear angry rants about family, hear angry rants about the world and life. I was even told when explaining my viewpoints that I'm too optimistic on life. Making passive aggressive comments all the time and in my opinion raised my partner in a way where they rely on them for everything in life but then use them being where they are as something to hold against them when they're fighting. But then at the end of the night they're all just having fun together watching movies or playing games.

My goal was to get us in school and into our own apartment. Now I won't pretend I'm a saint who isn't lazy in some cases but my partner procrastinates everything. There was a school paper that was required to be signed and it was put off for months as they couldn't wake up early enough to get it done. And when doing what i think are simple tasks they just struggle. Apply for health insurance, don't know how, apply for school, don't know how, drivers license, doesnt have one. But when I point out that all these bad habits and mindsets are obviously stemming from the whole family they agree and talk about making changes, but then nothing happens unless I do it myself.

When we met it was playing games, but I was working, would head to the gym and then come home and spend the rest of the night with them online and then occasionally go out with friends. Since being there its mostly just been living in a windowless room playing video games all day straight for 4 years. I did try to work a bit but being in the small town made things difficult. No gym, homeless people right outside so i couldnt excercise outside. I've gained about 20 pounds of just fat. I'm always stressed to the point my psychiatrist told me the meds she prescribed probably wouldn't work and the only way to fix myself would be to move out.

We visited my family recently and being there just made me realize how much better things were before. They don't want to cut off their family and regardless of the promises being made I don't really believe they'll move out.

The problem now is a lot of those issues stem from their family. I do love them and when things are great or we're alone. We were going to get married but I've been having 2nd thoughts. Outside of general laziness things are fine, I just mostly have to initiate everything to get stuff done. I'm also worried about them if I did break it off. They have trouble online making friends besides me and their family life was way worse before I came along so I wouldn't be lying if I said I'd be worried about them committing if I left.

I'm trying to get them signed up for school before I make any decisions so if I did leave I'd have the mental relief of knowing I did all I could. All they'd have to do is go to university in person.

I've been here since I was 19 and this was my first real relationship, I do feel attached to them and don't know what to do. Should we break up and how do I do that? Any advice would be appreciated.

Why go Texas state trooper if the citys have more benefits?

Big hat? Most sheriffs offices have them too

Benefits? Most locals like HPD pay more, don't have forced overtime and good retirement

Divisions? Most locals have a traffic division if you want to do mostly traffic. They promote faster and usually have more options. The criminal investigation divisions seem interesting with the Texas dps but most information I gather seems to point out that a local detective would be better because they don't spend most of their early career only doing traffic stops.

So what am I missing? My dream used to be Texas state trooper but looking at some of the local departments its hard not to see the greener fields. Any insight would be appreciated.

Are my pre med doubts a sign medicine isn't for me?

Hello, for reference I am 23 and started a degree in biology/forensic science. I also took a class on medical terminology for fun which i thoroughly enjoyed. My whole life I was big into law enforcement, took 3 years of classes in high school, loved true crime etc. But I'm also naturally a bit more of an anxious person when it comes to certain things which always held me back from pursuing a career in law enforcement until one day a watched a video on forensic pathology that really peaked my interest and since then I started my journey as a pre med. I currently live with my partner and his parents moving from Texas to Oregon. I am the first in my family to pursue college and currently we live in a small town taking local community classes but will have to transfer to a larger town to finish our bachelors.

The problem I'm having is ADD and when things go wrong I can't help but think about pursuing another path for the quick monetary gain. We got into a wreck in early january and its kind of set things off in my brain sometimes "well if I was pursuing this I could afford a car or if I was doing this I could get an apartment etc".

Do these doubts and questions I'm having when things are hard hint that medicine isn't for me or does everyone have those? How do you alleviate some of the financial burdens of being poor in your 20s with little support? When things are fine I'm happy with what I'm pursuing but when the food runs low and emergencies happen my mind just starts racing with what ifs. Any advice would be appreciated.
