Those of you who’ve traveled around Indonesia, which region left the biggest impression on you and why?
I just got back from a long trip around several Indonesian islands, including Sumatra, Java, Nusa Tenggara, and a short stop in Sulawesi. Honestly, this journey completely changed my perspective on just how diverse and incredible our own country is.
What impressed me the most wasn’t just the scenery, but the people. Every region has its own kind of hospitality, its own flavors, and a completely different way of life. It’s amazing that all of it exists within the same country.
I also realized how many places are still far behind the bigger cities when it comes to infrastructure. Roads are in terrible condition, internet signal is almost nonexistent, yet somehow life there feels more genuine and less artificial.
For those of you who’ve traveled around Indonesia, I’m curious, which region left the biggest impression on you? Was there a particular moment or someone you met that genuinely changed the way you see things? Or maybe you had a bad experience that ended up teaching you something valuable?
I’d really love to hear stories from other Komodos here. Maybe they’ll even help me plan my next trip. Indonesia is so vast that it honestly feels like one lifetime isn’t enough to explore it all.
