What should I keep in a first aid kit for goats?

I'm a little bit traumatized from the events that happened with my baby goat and him injuring his leg pretty bad, so I would like to start a first aid collection for them, especially since the Vets closer to me will only do scheduled visits I have to drive almost 2 hours for emergency vets, and the mobile vet won't come to my house because they don't want to come up my driveway.

So what kind of medicines and materials and whatnot would you put in a first aid kit for goats? Currently I have fly spray which is kind of a necessity for everything almost in my opinion, I have blue knot spray, iodine, electrolytes, bandages, and Saline.

What else should I add? Of course I know if something is an emergency I still need to take them to the vet, but for things that I can do at home and like with what happened with my baby goat, I need something to be able to treat injuries until I can get a vet to accept them, because even the emergency there is not open on the day of certain holidays and they are not open past 10:00 p.m. and until 8:00 a.m.

So what should I add? I appreciate any information and advice you guys give me!

Also for those of you that seen my other posts about my baby goat he's doing great now, I'll make another post specifically about him tomorrow

Update on my baby goat with the leg injury

Finally found a vet that would take him on such short notice, they took him today got him up there drove a little over an hour and a half, they said fortunately it did not seem like the twine getting wrapped around his leg is what caused the injury, they're not sure exactly what could have caused it but there was a significant amount of air in the joint of his leg, fluid was starting to build up and that's what the smell was, on top of that he had a little bit of fly strike which fortunately I managed to catch before it got bad.

They gave me some medication to give him, they said he should make a full recovery in just a couple of weeks

They are equally as confused as to why my local vet would not see him giving the severity of the situation, they said it makes no sense because in emergencies like that they should have made some room or at least referred me to someone else which they did not, but regardless he should be okay he's just a little bit drunk right now

I need help finding a vet in or near North Wilkesboro North Carolina

I've already called Riverview animal hospital, I believe necrosis has set up in my baby goat's leg he already had maggots on it which I washed off, it has a very bad smell, Riverview gave me an appointment for the 11th at 8:00 a.m. but ideally I need something sooner, if any of you have any recommendations that would be wonderful!

Update on my baby goat with the hurt leg and maggots on it

I picked up some fly spray, once I got home I cleaned it again with some Dawn and water, made sure I got all the soap off of it and dried it off, I'm out of iodine now so I applied some blue knot spray on it, and I applied fly spray.

The vet still will not move the appointment to any sooner, So currently I'm stuck with the 11th at 8:00 a.m. which sucks but I'll take what I can get, although I am going to still be looking around and see if I can't get a hold of a emergency mobile vet.

He is still behaving like normal, eating and drinking wagging his tail and moving around, he's just not using that leg.

I haven't gotten his leg clipped yet because I don't have any clippers, but I am trying to get some so hopefully I'll be able to get that done.

I believe when he got a piece of twine wrapped around his leg that it cut off circulation long enough that it's caused necrotic tissue to form (sorry if I said that wrong)

I've been gone for a few days and this happened a few days ago, my grandma found him and said his leg was swollen but when she took it off after a couple of minutes of limping he started using it, I get home today he's not using it it's swollen and there are maggots on it.

I did find a few ticks on his leg so I removed those with some fine tipped tweezers And made sure to treat those areas, any advice you can give me would be great.

Fortunately I'm in North Carolina so I don't have to worry about the screw worm issue unless they have migrated without my knowledge

Help maggots on my baby goats leg and it's swollen

I cannot find any open wound or anything that explains it, his leg is swollen a little bit squishy around the joint right above his hoof, there is a smell to it and maggots, right after I took the picture I did use a wet cloth to scrub his leg once I made sure there wasn't an open wound and I believe I got all of the maggots off, what do I do? The closest vet appointment I could get is the 11th at 8:00 a.m., it's the only vet that will see livestock

The only farm store I have near me is Tractor Supply so anything I purchased from him would have to be from there, any advice would be greatly appreciated

As far as how this happened I'm not sure I just got home, I've been gone for about a week although my Nana said he had gotten a piece of twine wrapped around his leg a few days ago but he started walking just fine afterwards, I don't know if that contributed to it or not so I figured I would mention it, anything I can do for him until his vet appointment?

As for Behavior he's of course not as playful as he was, but he's moving around eating and drinking just not using that leg

How to keep people and their dogs away from my dogs?

No matter what I say for some reason people still choose to want to just walk up and pet my dog, and let either they're all free dogs or their least dogs run up to him, and 50% of the time said dog wants to start a fight with mine, no one listens to me even when I put a muzzle on my dog and say that they're not friendly.

My Malinois is a little over 10 months old and very friendly, he loves everyone but I don't want him to meet everyone, especially right now because he is very hyper and gets distracted very easily, my older 3-year-old dog is very dog selective, and will not be friendly to any strange dog just running up to her, it takes quite a bit of introduction to a calm well mannered dog for her to feel comfortable around them, but if the dog is not behaving properly she's still not going to be comfortable and will lash out.

However no matter what I say people refuse to listen, and then get mad and try to start a altercation with me because I physically stopped them and their dog from interacting with mine.

And I assume it does not help that my older dog does not look like a typical dog selective dog, it gets very annoying because no matter where I go people will come up and try to pet them without permission, even if I have things on the dog that says do not pet.

And they will usually argue with me and try to convince me to let them pet the dog, they also get mad when I tell them their dog cannot play with mine.

It's not even always at the stores (all but one of the stores near me are pet friendly) I'll just be on a walk with my dogs and people will come out of their house out of their yard or cross the street to want to interact with my dogs, my dogs look different than typical dogs you see in the area, usually it's pits or hounds that you see, so I guess that's why people are drawn to my dogs.

Please any advice would be greatly appreciated!

What type of Saddle do you think would be best for me?

I'm potentially getting a 14-year-old gelding, originally just a trail horse really sweet and sound I'm going to look at him in a few days, still not 100% sure if I'm going to get him, but I want to know if I get him or even if I don't what type of Saddle do you think I should get for me, even though I grew up riding horses I grew up riding in western saddles and surprisingly bareback, I say surprisingly because my balance is complete trash, I can go around on flat ground just fine but one heel one little buck and I'm on the ground, I don't know how I could ride bareback for so long and my balance be that bad, I am going to be taking lessons, in fact I am looking for a barn now to take lessons on their horses, but I'm curious to know what type of Saddle you guys would get for someone like me, I know I have to be comfortable in the saddle and stuff but I feel like a big problem that I had growing up is I would rely on the horn for balance and no one would ever correct me, and then bareback I would always hold on to the horse's mane for balance, I really want to break myself of that habit and I want a saddle that will be suitable for me, eventually I do want to do a little bit of show jumping later on in the future, but that's just a distant dream at the moment and I really don't care what saddle I start out in, thank you guys for your input!

Should I be concerned about my goat's horn or is this normal?

He head butts things a lot but doesn't really get his horn stuck, I have just now noticed this and just want to make sure everything's okay or if I should do something now before it gets worse

If you're at the Food Lion in North Wilkesboro North Carolina watch out

Brown and white male pitbull loose, accompanied by owner but the owner does not seem to care about what the dog does, it has chased cars with small dogs in it it goes around peeing on everything and trying to pee on people as well, I was not able to get a picture of the dog but it's a chocolate brown color four white legs white chest and a white Blaze on its face.

It has attacked and killed a couple of squirrels, it chased a stray cat but fortunately the cat got away, as I said the owner does not seem to care, he only called the dog once it started going towards the road

Is it normal for my dog to hate big spaces?

Ever since I got her she's hated open spaces, her favorite place is to be is in her crate under the rocking chair and under the covers on my bed, she will come out if it's just me and it's pretty chill but if anything starts going on if the TV's playing anything, or even if she just wants to she goes to hide basically.

And if you put her in a crate that is bigger than a certain size she also gets very stressed out and will just curl up in the corner shivering and whining until you get her out, she is far happier in a crate that is too small than one that is too big.

She was about six months old when I got her from the shelter, they didn't really have any background on her as she was a surrender but they said she was fairly malnourished and had some old injuries, curious to know what you guys think maybe the reason she likes small spaces.

My fiance's dog came from a very abusive home And absolutely hates small spaces So I'm not sure if it's different experiences or if it's just Personalities

Is it true that you can get urinary incompetence after delivering?

I heard someone say that after they had their baby they could no longer control their bladder, I'm only 12 weeks so I'm terrified and now I'm even more scared, is this true? And if it is does it go away? I'm already terrified for the 6 weeks of bleeding I'm probably going to do

Please leave rabbit breeding to actual rabbit breeders

Can't believe I'm making this post, I have met multiple people now, who will get a male and a female rabbit as pets and allow them to breed, their reasoning is that they can sell the babies so they can afford to keep the parents.. if you cannot afford to keep the parents without them having babies to sell then you should not get the rabbits, most people that do this no absolutely nothing about rabbit breeding and are a large portion of the problem of why there are so many rabbits in animal shelters.

I don't have anything against rabbit breeding when done correctly by someone that knows what they're doing, so long as you are breeding to better the breed and not just make a quick buck, and of course as long as you can provide what each rabbit needs.

So please if you get a male and female rabbit whether it was intentional or not please have one or preferably both of them fixed, breeding rabbits is not as simple as you would think it is, and you need to do extensive research to do it properly to make sure everyone stays healthy and happy.

If you are solely looking for a pet rabbit and you don't care about breed please adopt, there is so many bunnies waiting for a home just sitting in shelters

I have the goodest good boy in the world

10 month old male malinois, believe it or not not very destructive whatsoever, he still got the same plush toy he had when he was 6 weeks old and it's pristine besides some stains, the only thing he chews up is if you leave like a cord on the floor or something he will chew that up past that he leaves everything alone, Furniture left alone shoes socks clothes all of that, the most he will do to close is rake them into a pile and sleep on them or under them, I'm so proud of my boy, sometimes I wonder if he's broken though LOL

Tips on finding homes for unneeded Roosters in North carolina?

I have these three boys, all of them are about a year old, they're mixed breeds that I hatched myself and good tempered, I just simply don't need them in total I have six adult roosters plus a bunch of babies I suspect to be roosters, I love them I just don't need them but I don't want them to be killed just because they are a rooster, I know it is not unethical to process them, I just personally don't want that to happen to them.

Any tips on finding them a good home? Someone told me instead of giving them away that I should sell them because people are more inclined to take better care of something they paid for then something that was given to them, so I would like to know your opinion on that as well.

Also no they don't live in this cage, they're just here because I'm getting ready to treat them for lice to prevent it from happening

Will these hay bags work for my rabbits?

Currently my method is just putting it straight into their litter boxes, but they waste a lot of hay that way so I want to get something like this where they don't soil it so quickly, I just want to know if these will work or should I look for something different.

Anyone else just not have the energy to participate in the summer days?

Sorry if I spelled it wrong I'm using voice to text, just don't have the energy to participate, when the next Trailblazer is out I might participate in that depending on if I like what it is, but past that I'm only going to log on for one of the magic Dutch warmbloods to complete my collection, I'm level 19 and I'm kind of bored

Is it okay for a goat to be outside in the middle of a downpour?

It is pouring rain to the point I can just step two feet outside and I get soaked, and my goat for some reason is standing in the middle of it appearing to be as happy as possible with full access to a dry shelter with food in it.. is he going to be okay or should I dry him off after it quits raining? It's in the '70s right now but is expected to shoot back up in the 80s and '90s
