I think my boss bottled beyond is disappearing.

I could have sworn there was a lot less air than this. I used it a few times in the past week but then left it in my drawer, it’s a cool dry place and I live alone. There isn’t a strong smell of it in my drawer or in the box it’s in, and I haven’t noticed any staining. Am I just schizophrenic?

I’m a 200lbs 6’ tall 20 yo male trying to lose 15 lbs.

I’ve started eating around 1500-1800 calories a day in order to lose weight. I usually do 2 workouts a day, one 20 minute hiit session in the morning and then 45 minutes-1 hour of calisthenics or strength training/weightlifting.

What im mostly worried about is that I have too much of a deficit, I’ve assumed that I’m burning around 500 calories from my workouts on top of my BMR. I’m worried that I may be wrong and actually in much more of a deficit, and I don’t want to end up overdoing it and losing muscle mass.

Anybody have tips, or suggestions for me and my situation?

How often do you get to “think” in your job? Versus taking orders from the surgeon and pushing buttons/turning knobs.

A medical student who rotated through the ICU made the comment that perfusionists just take orders from the surgeon, turn knobs and push buttons, and keep some numbers baseline. They even made the comment that it doesn’t require any “intellectual ability” to perform the functions of the job. I’m wondering what you guys think of this assessment, do you feel that you have the autonomy to think for yourself and make decisions in regard to the patients physiological state? Or do you feel like everything you do is robotic and brainless?

What are the chances of me getting in without taking ochem and biochem if the program doesn’t require it as a prerequisite?

I’ve seen a lot of programs that don’t require ochem or biochem. I’m wondering, if I didn’t take those classes and still applied with the rest of the prerequisites, how much would it hurt my application?

What’s with the constant RT hate online?

Especially here on Reddit, it seems like everyone likes to bash on RTs for every little thing. It’s disheartening as someone who’s entering the field. It seems like we aren’t respected as members of the healthcare team.

How often do you run into Interprofessional conflicts with the surgeons, anesthesiologist, or nurses? And how do you deal with them?

Just looking for some insight.

Thinking of switching to 15w-40 for my 01 Toyota echo.

2001 Toyota echo with 205k miles, right now I run 5w-30 and I’m noticing after long drives there’s a lot more top end noise and it burns a little over a quart in between oil changes. A friend of mine who has a lot more experience than me recommended I use 15w-40. The main concern we have is the top end noise, that’s why we want to switch to a heavier weight oil. I know this is generally not recommended but I figure due to the fact that the engine has 205k miles worth of wear and tear it should be okay. I’m not going to be running this heavy of an oil in the wintertime but during the summers it gets between 90-100 degrees where I live. Anybody here who has experience doing this and what were the results?

If you had to buy a 2026 model vehicle which one would it be?

Just curious as I’ve heard mixed things about every car manufacturer out there about build quality and reliability for new vehicles.

Possible timing noise?

2001 Toyota echo, I’ve noticed that after driving on the interstate at high speeds (70-80mph) for long periods of time (1-2 hours) when I get off the freeway and accelerate at low speeds there’s a sort of grinding noise coming from the passenger side engine bay. There are no noises on startup accept for my starter clutch making a bit of noise for a split second sometimes. I feel like it’s gotten worse over the past couple of weeks and it’s starting to concern me, there aren’t any codes other than a P0420 for a bad cat. Any ideas as to what else it could be? I’m going to do my valve cover gasket in a week so I guess I’ll check the chain tension then.

What is the reasoning behind 12ml/kg on a vented patient?

I’m an RT student, the other day a patient was coming out of surgery and the anesthesiologist had them on 12ml/kg volumes. When I asked why the volumes were set so high they couldn’t give me an answer, we drastically reduced the tidal volume and the intensivist agreed with our decision. Anesthesiologist got mad that we changed the settings. I am curious though, what is the reasoning behind 12ml/kg volumes.

Questions about what it’s like as a perfusionist.

I’m curious as to what the day to day life as a perfusionist is like. I know perfusionist operate the heart and lung machine, but I’m wondering what else you guys do. Do you feel like you have a lot of autonomy? Are you able to make decisions based on your own judgment and knowledge or is everything based off of protocols? What is your favorite thing to do as a perfusionist (parts of the job or specific skill/procedure). Thanks in advance!

Maybe I’m an idiot, is driving on the interstate at 80mph for 350 miles bad for your vehicle?

2001 Toyota echo, somebody told me that driving 80mph for 350 miles is really bad for my car. I’ve always thought that if anything it’s better than driving at low speeds in say the city. I don’t have any issues with my car and it stays at roughly 3300-3500 rpm’s while maintaining 80mph. What do you guys think?

Is this too much metal on my drain plug?

2001 Toyota echo 1.5l with 200k miles. Just did an oil change, this is my first time using a magnetic drain plug and I’m just wondering if this much metal is considered excessive. The rest of the oil looks spotless and I didn’t see any sizable chunks.

Any apps that provide a second phone number for calls/texts and allows multiple users?

I’m starting a business with my buddy and I’ve recently run into an issue with creating a new phone number. I need a phone number/app that can receive calls and texts like a normal number, with a selectable area code, but one that two people can access. Unfortunately because my phone number is a 907 number I can’t use google voice, so that’s off the table. I’ve been seeing so many conflicting answers online so now I’m just seeing if anyone here has a good suggestion.

Anybody have experience at Seattle Children’s?

I might move to Seattle in the next year and was wondering if anyone on this sub has worked at Seattle children’s? Do you feel you are well compensated? How’s the department? Do yo have a lot of autonomy and do you perform procedures like art line insertion and intubation? I know RTs can do transport there, I’m wondering if RTs can also become ECMO specialists at Seattle Children’s. Appreciate any information.
