I'm sorry but favoritism is casting should be illegal and should based SOLELY off skill. In the musical production we were doing this year, I auditioned for the sidekick to the lead who got 1 song to themselves. I auditioned and got a callback along with 3 other girls. One girl cracked under the pressure of having to learn the whole song in a singular day and left screaming and crying. HOWEVER the other girl also cried. Instead though, her posse stood there with her in the hallways as I was auditioned. I had memorized, practiced, and made sure every part of the song was perfect. When she came in, she stuttered, forgot half the song, and was still kind of crying by the end.

And guess who got the role? HER

I got the understudy so I should be grateful for that at least.

However, since she was signed up for the directors theater club, and I couldn't because I had already taken my other classes, she was given a month in advance and a basically guaranteed role.

4 months later, and a lot of her crying, she fucked up the show and the director still called it beautiful.

And I later found out she talked bad about me and body shamed me behind my back to said posse because apparently I was "too loud" because I asked if she might have needed a break for one of our 15 shows.

IN CONCLUSION favoritism in casting should be illegal because otherwise burning dumpster fires like that will ensue.

when Elphaba says "or like Munchkins, so small minded" does she mean in a sort of racist way like how it may be a stereotype (because before you argue that munchkins blamed Elphaba so did from what we know of, also the emerald City when it was announced she was "evil" immediately) or does she mean it in a pun way since they're known to be around 5ft in the movies and 3ft in the 1930's movie?
