It happened again! Two aircraft, same callsign, same airspace.

The latest VASaviation video captures the controller expressing his frustration and the confusion it causes for them.

This is the third incident (that we know of) in the last few months. I still don't quite understand how it's possible, as I'm used to airlines using consecutive flight numbering for inbound and outbound flights e.g. Flight 1234 from A to B, Flight 1235 from B to A.

Doesn't the scheduling software have a check for this type of conflict?

Where can I buy a surgical/Tattoo marker pen in Toronto?

I need to mark my skin for an ongoing medical treatment. I've been using a sharpie but it wears off in less than 24 hours and has become a bit of a pain to continually check and re-apply.

I'm looking for a surgical skin marker pen such as gentian violet or similar that I can use and not have to worry that the mark will be gone by the end of the day.

There's lots of online options, but I'm looking for a store preferably east end/Scarborough where I can walk in today and buy one.

These triple-neck beauties

These are the signature instruments of Canadian musician Yiannis Kapoulas. They were hand-made by his father, George, to emulate the sounds of typical Greek and Turkish instruments in one package.

These are the Ethno III Acoustic and the Ethno III Electric. The three distinct, exotic sounds afforded by the E-III Electric emulate the lush and melodious tones of the Bouzouki, Saz, and Cumbus. The E-III Acoustic emulates the erotic sounds of the Tsoura, Bouzouki and Guitar.

Matt and his proximity to his mic when singing

I went to the Toronto show (my third Muse concert) last week and had a great time. Reliving some of the performances by watching some youtube videos and I noticed that Matt seems to move his mouth away from the mic at some points while singing, yet the sound level stays constant. I'm used to mic levels being set so that the singer needs to be right in front of the mic so that background stage noise is not picked up on the mic. Moving your mouth away would necessitate higher mic levels.

I'm not suggesting that Matt's miming here, this could be a technique he uses to mute his voice during the high notes, just curious if anyone else has noticed this.

Pilot threatened to declare an emergency because he was not getting the requested approach from ATC. Then he did. Is that legal?

I was listening to the latest VASaviation ATC video and the pilot sounds like a real douche right from the start.

But threatening to declare an emergency and then doing so is wild. Should he face some sort of discipline?

PSA for Toronto fans taking GO to the show

Give yourself plenty of extra time. We went to Jack White last night and GO was a mess of "weather-related" delays + miscommunication from the GO staff: "this train is out of service, everyone get out" followed a few minutes later by "this is the the next train to depart" (same train).

What normally would have been a 22-ish minute ride from Danforth GO became an hour-plus of wasted time and put a slight damper on the evening because we missed Angine de Poitrine.

Brad Bradford has been a disappointment as a councillor for Ward 19. He is on social media every single day promoting himself for Mayor and ignoring his constituents.

Last time I checked, he is still collecting his councillor's pay and all he has done this year is campaign for mayor. It's just non-stop photo-ops and pandering to, mostly, suburban communities. The only time he made an appearance in his own ward was at the East York Canada Day parade and he was not warmly received.

Emails and calls to his office go unanswered. My spouse works for the City and public-facing employees they are mandated to respond to emails and phone calls within 48 hours. Some councillors seem to think they are exempt from this rule for some reason.

I know my emails have been received by his office because the email address I used now receives mayoral campaign emails from Bradford.

Which pubs, bars, and restaurants still serve proper pints?

Is the UK pint (20 fl.oz/568ml) dead in Toronto? It used to be the norm for draught beer but that's no longer the case.

Too many establishments serve "pints" that are either 16 fl. oz US pints, or 500ml draughts, or in a number of cases, 14 fl. oz servings, because "craft beer", yet they still charge exorbitantly for those sizes: $13.50 for 500ml Guinness, $12 for 500ml Blanche de Chambly, etc., at the pub I visited yesterday. I've seen 14 fl. oz servings on some menus at $10 - $12 or more.

So, good people of Toronto, where can I find a proper pint in Toronto?

Why doesn't the Dundas East bike lane have bollards to prevent cars and trucks from entering it?

I'm tired of seeing trucks at the various car dealerships on this stretch using the bike lane as a loading dock. It's so prevalent it's been caught on google street view.

Why can't the City install bollards or narrow the lane at each entrance with additional angled concrete barriers to prevent the trucks from using it? Seems like a simple fix since enforcement is next to nil and even then it's only a $200 ticket (parking in a bike lane). This is also a no stopping zone, so I'd love to see an additional ticket for $300 (parking, no stopping) issued as well.

Even better would be increased fines for commercial vehicles, say 10x the regular fine. If the fine is low enough, businesses will accept it as the cost of doing business. Transporting a vehicle can cost $2,000; the small risk of a $200 fine does not discourage their behaviour at all.
