True Story

Last night, 1 AM, I get off of a call, and I decide to go to sleep, So I also decide to listen to Radiohead (I'll just listen to it to sleep) I convince myself, 4 hours later, it's 5 AM (Duh) and I'm dancing to 15 step, I look to my right, I see my neighbors curtains aren't closed.

*Could my neighbor had seen me dancing like a maniac at midnight?*

Do any of y'all have any stories regarding Radiohead?

Whimsical Bicycles of Sarasota

Location: Behind Fogartyville Community Center 🚲

Not so long ago, downtown Sarasota was dotted with bright, whimsical bicycles—each one transformed into a joyful sculpture by William “Dr. Nik” Pearson. They weren’t official art pieces. They weren’t part of any program. They simply appeared, quietly, like gifts.

Dr. Nik never titled his bikes or signed them. He just placed them around the city as expressions of peace, love, and playful human connection. You could be walking downtown, lost in your thoughts, when a burst of color pulled you back into the moment: flamingos, flowers, peace bells, hearts, and odd little charms that made you smile before you even realized it.

Over time, these bikes became unofficial Sarasota landmarks—art without boundaries, woven into the city’s creative identity. Children climbed on them. Photographers hunted for them. Locals pointed them out to visitors.

When Dr. Nik passed away in 2024, the bikes quietly disappeared. His storage unit—filled with bikes, marionettes, instruments, and metal characters from his animated films—was nearly hauled away as scrap. His whimsical world was moments from being crushed.

But Sarasota stepped in. ❤️

WSLR + Fogartyville rallied volunteers, launched a fundraiser, and rescued the entire collection in a last‑minute save.

Today, every surviving bike rests safely behind the Fogartyville Community Center, waiting for its next chapter.

Dr. Nik’s art was never about prestige. It was about presence—the way a splash of color can change a street, or how a strange little sculpture can make a stranger smile. His bikes reminded Sarasota that creativity doesn’t need permission.

Now that they’ve been saved, the question becomes: what comes next?

The bikes deserve to be seen again. They belong to the city that loved them—often without ever knowing the man behind them.

Maybe that’s the perfect tribute: that Dr. Nik’s art continues to spark joy long after he’s gone, still surprising people, still brightening corners, still reminding Sarasota that creativity can live anywhere—even on an old bicycle left on the side of the road.

[3d.dev] I built a completely free online dice roller: with auto counting, roll history, themes, custom colors, and full multiplayer support!

To my knowledge, no existing tool includes all of the above mentioned and also live multiplayer + roll history. So I spent the past couple years planning and building one! No installation or app needed!

Free for as long as I'm living. Open to suggestions to improve the experience for anyone who sees the benefit of having this virtual toolset🙏

I know we have opinions.

Yes this is real.

Also, you should see the comments on Facebook about this. Let me paraphrase one:

"muhFREEFUMN! Murica the great is turning 250 this year. My next door neighbor is the sheriff and he's launching fireworks from my backyard party! We just bought out the local fireworks store yehaw"

Kid you not, that was at least one of them.

I'll be sleeping in, like last year lol

Pls stop stealing copper from the lights

Sarasota County is aware of individuals repeatedly cutting and stealing underground electrical wire from county roadway lighting systems in search of copper wire. Once cut, the roadways go dark, which is dangerous for everyone.

On 17th Street, 9,000 feet was taken and repairs cost the county approximately $45,500. On Bahia Vista Street, approximately 7,000 feet of wire was stolen and cost $9,000 to repair. Sarasota County is replacing copper wire with non-copper alternatives and is coordinating with law enforcement.

Residents who see suspicious activity occurring near pull boxes or electrical infrastructure, especially at night or involving unmarked vehicles, are asked to dial 911 to report the incident. Residents are asked to call the non-emergency line at 941-316-1201 to report any damage discovered to any electrical infrastructure or pull boxes.

Color grading tricks?

I've never done professional color grading before. All my footage is HLG2100. I kept my ISO at 400 or 500. Don't recall exact shutter speed, I might tone it down a couple steps for any reshoots though. Unless that's a bad idea.

I am going for a warm color palette, but don't want to blow anything out too much. Does it feel oversaturated?

Some of the shots are slightly inconsistent, since warmer, since more violet, some higher in contrast, etc. It's noticeable enough to me. What's the best way to align the footage to make to appear like it's all part of the same cohesive scene?

I played around with LUTs and curves for a few hours, but honestly I have no clue what I'm doing. I noticed a few things I wanted to mask out, but the atmosphere of the shots actually makes it harder to hide imperfections since the scene lighting is constantly flickering.

Using Premiere Pro. I can pull up After Effects but it's just so slow to edit there. PP is already at 100% CPU utilization most of the time and I have a threadripper.

Any seasoned tips to make my life here easier?

For context, this is a music video. Nothing festival worthy, but I would still like the final output to be as good as I can get it.

Thanks!

🚦 New roundabout traffic light!

From the article:

A new traffic signal is now active at the eastbound Apex Road and Lakewood Ranch Boulevard roundabout. Drivers must stop when the signal is red and proceed only when it turns green, as they would at any standard traffic signal.

This is the first signalized roundabout of its kind in Sarasota County. The signal is designed to reduce congestion within the roundabout caused by northbound traffic on Lakewood Ranch Boulevard approaching the Fruitville Road intersection.

Pushing Execution Commentary aside, which I still feel has a lot more in common with the earlier albums like Showbiz/OOS, etc...

I would say that the song that sounds unlike anything else they've ever made, is Prague.

If it weren't for Matt singing, I would have never guessed in a million years this was a Muse song. They never made anything else quite like it.

Other thoughts?
