Looking for the "universal" 8-string Lap Steel tuning strings?

Hi everyone,
A while ago, I read a discussion here on Reddit about a specific, more "universal" string setup for 8-string lap steel. If I remember correctly, it allowed the player to easily shift between versatile tunings (like C6, E13, or E7) just by tweaking a few strings, without losing proper tension or risking breaking anything.
I read that in a comment. I searched but couldn't find it. As far as I remember, the user said that the D6 tuning can be changed to other tunings.
Right now, I'm using regular electric guitar strings, since the guy who made it, sold it with those, but the tension is completely off. I want to buy the right strings to build the perfect, versatile 8-string set.
Could anyone recommend the ideal gauges for an 8-string setup that gives me this kind of flexibility?
Thanks in advance!

Looking for vanilla campaign gameplay mods
I’ve been playing Quake since its original launch back in 1996, and it’s still one of my favorite games of all time. Recently, I’ve been looking for ways to refresh the classic id1 campaign maps by changing up the gameplay mechanics rather than downloading massive custom map packs.
Lately, I’ve been running the vanilla campaign using the SP Instagib mod, but with a self-imposed "saveless" rule: no quicksaving during levels. If I die, I restart the map from the beginning (unless I get hopelessly stuck in a specific room and die 5+ times, in which case I allow a checkpoint save). It turns the levels into a brilliant puzzle of muscle memory and raw reflexes.
Are there any other interesting gameplay-driven mods you guys would recommend for running the classic episodes? I'd love to hear your suggestions!
Thanks!

I thought it was beautiful, so I decided to post it here.
