Just swapped out the chrome fork for a 20th century carbon Colnago fork. Really fast bike: SRAM Rival 11 shifters, Mavic 50mm wheels and Campy Power Torque cranks.

I really love this community and feel it's helped me a lot, but I do have a question and would like to see what the consensus is.
I'm an older rider and I used to race back in the 1990's. Back then, on the university team, we didn't have coaches, we just trained the way the older riders told us to. Mostly, it worked. But there was one tip regarding bike fit they gave us I still remember and wanted to see if it holds up:
Is it true that your stem is the correct length when the front hub is obscured by the flats of your dropbars? Obviously, you can lean forward or back, but in your standard posture, you shouldn't be able to see your front hub.
Any value to this advice?
Sure, it's great to cross that mountain pass or win a local crit. But what are some of the small pleasures that people who don't ride as often might not know?
Yesterday, I was in the middle of a long hilly road ride and while following the course of a small valley, I had a generous tailwind. I was pretty tired, but started pushing and while cruising around 35kmh, the world was silent. No wind and no rattling from the bike. Just quiet speed. Best feeling ever.

I can't get away from my favorite brakes: Shimano 600 Tricolor from the early 1990's. Still work great, look amazing, and are easy to maintain.
Just finished my restomod 1987 Saronni frame with SRAM Rival 11, Mavic 50mm wheels, and a 2015 Colnago Precisa fork.
The paint job and head badge are meant to recall my very first bike from 1976: a yellow Murray MX with a kick-ass banana seat.
