Has anyone here ever been required to read Hofstadter's "Godel Escher Bach" for university, either in grad school or undergrad?

If you're comfortable, pls do share the name of your institute!

I have always been fascinated with this weird little book, but I had doubts about its intellectual rigor. /r/cogsci convinced me that it's worth reading, so just a few hours ago, I went and bought the book. And in the hours since then, I have learnt that Colonel John Boyd (USAF, an influential military officer) took the book seriously. Is it ever required reading in university?
