John Rich asks governor to be a 'honky-tonk hero', intervene on taxes
>NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Country music artist John Rich and other downtown business owners are urging Gov. Bill Lee to call a special session of the legislature over Nashville taxes.
>Rich told News 2 he and other business owners sat down with Tennessee House Speaker Cameron Sexton Wednesday to discuss the significant tax spikes they’ve seen and request that state leaders intervene.
>“You see these really, really big places starting to close up. Nashville Underground closed up; ACME Feed and Seed is on the verge of closing up. That’s just down on the first block down by the river. You start moving your way up Broadway. This all goes back to the mayor and his tax policies,” Rich told News 2. “So, I went on social media and I said, ‘Governor Lee, you can be a honky-tonk hero. You can save the live music in downtown Nashville.’ They’re trying to tax it out of existence. And the very DNA of what makes Nashville Music City is under threat.”
Metro Council approves eminent domain to buy proposed data center land near Nashville Zoo
>NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Metro Council approved the use of eminent domain to stop the proposed data center near the Nashville Zoo in South Nashville.
>The council voted 27 to 5 Tuesday night to give the city authority to negotiate or pursue eminent domain to force the sale of the property, which was purchased by the company DC Blox last month. The vote came after hours of debate that went well past midnight after The Nashville Zoo and community members have been pushing against the center.
>In Tennessee, eminent domain can be used to seize private land for public projects as long as the government honors the Fifth Amendment by paying property owners for the property.
>According to the Davidson County Register of Deeds, DC Blox purchased the land near the zoo for $23 million.
Even a week after a corticosteroid injection, my Plantar Fasciitis won't let me go jogging.
* My fast breaker looks like my face after trying to jog a quarter mile before having to cut it short walk the rest of the way home.
TL;DR: I never thought I'd feel so sad by not being able to exercise.
I started making real progress on improving my pace and my endurance from April - June and even got my Vo2 Max over 30 for the first time since I was 18yrs old. Then in July my foot started hurting in the morning and got progressively worse until I could barely walk on it.
I gained like 8lbs in the interim even while still eating at a CICO deficit because of drop in daily exertion.
Finally got into a orthopedic doctor's appt who specializes in sports medicine and got almost immediate relief with a rather painful injection straight in my heel. Still, I decided to wait a week before trying to "use it" again b/c i wanted to give my heel heal-time.
Nope. While not excruciatingly painful, it's got a burning sensation and the whole ankle feels unstable.
I'm sofa king bummed that I'm slipping and no longer improving.
1 dead, 3 hospitalized after driver hits pedestrians on Broadway in Nashville
newschannel5.comDoes Listen & Read on Audible pay the same page flip and audible royalty to authors as listening to the audiobook from within Kindle?
I know this is an esoteric question but I'm curious.
I remember that if you check out a book through Kindle Unlimited authors get paid per page flip. And they also get royalties from the audio book purchase.
But now there is "Read & Listen" built into Audible itself and I just want to make sure I'm giving as much revenue as possible to the authors I support.
Murphy's Law of Waymo...
Remember, the remote intervention "Human Assist" technician is an excellent driver...in India.
The only drawback is...
>"Waymo doesn’t equip their remote assist staff with wheels or even joysticks."
(they just draw on the car's local map to show it how to proceed, lol)

Knee doesn't hurt while jogging/running but does while taking a walking breather and especially afterwards on stairs...
TL;DR: just want to know why and, ideally, remediation without medical intervention, if possible.
I'm so new to this all. But, in the last 10 weeks I've managed to improve my average mile from 17m to 12:06 minutes. My typical run is only 2.5 miles and I do it twice a day.
But now I wake up with plantar fasciitis in my left heel and my right (dominant leg) knee seems unstable whenever I'm not running. I'm guessing because I'm flexing it more when not running but I don't really know.
I got some kind of foot brace that prevents that tendon on my left leg from shrinking in my sleep and that helps. I also found that freezing a water bottle and rolling my foot over it in the am helps too.
But the knee brace only makes my knee feel more unstable and hurts more so I stopped wearing it between runs. It's really only from going up stairs and the occasional misstep where my knee hyper flexes. Almost like the patella is traveling in a half moon track, pulling to the outside, instead of straight up and down.
Is Rubix Groove local legends because they kind of deserve to be...
These guys are absolutely killing it while I sit in the miserable heat and humidity in Crockett Park. I love their costumes but damn Bumblebee has to be dying in that suit.
I need to see them again in an air conditioned environment. They are heat..
NSV: I'm cold in the office...
I'm only down about 30lbs so far but apparently that was enough of my built-in thermal insulation to protect me from the dreaded "Second Winter" that keeps all the women in the office in sweaters all day long.
I've always been hot blooded, I don't even have a real coat anymore since I moved to Nashville, but suddenly I'm going to have to drag out my winter hoodie and start bringing it to work because it's...72F inside.
I'm literally laughing at myself writing that. What a weird and good feeling.
Federal judge blocks SNAP restrictions involving junk food set to take effect in Tennessee, other states
>NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A federal judge has temporarily blocked efforts to restrict what Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients can buy, including Tennessee’s limitations on junk food taking effect this summer, along with other states in 2026.
>The ruling came in a lawsuit filed by SNAP participants challenging the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s approval of state pilot projects that would restrict certain food and beverage purchases.
Good.
There is an unfortunate reality where homeless people (and the growing number of people living in their cars) who have SNAP benefits but don't live close enough to an actual grocery store to buy real food.
They subsist off of gas station junk food and as terrible as that is it's not like they have a kitchen to cook in.
New Tennessee law named after Charlie Kirk allows teachers to discuss Christianity’s role in American history
>NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A new Tennessee law set to take effect July 1 will give educators additional assurance they can teach about Christianity’s influence on the founding of the United States without fear of violating state policy.
>The Charlie Kuck American Heritage Act, sponsored by State Rep. Mark Cochran (R-Englewood), allows public school teachers and faculty at public colleges and universities to discuss the role Christianity played in shaping American history.
TL;DR: It allowed white men to tell themselves that black people and women don't have souls and therefore they could treat them like animals. That's the impact that Christianity had on the United States.
Also, Charlie Kuck was a worthless, racist, piece of schist.
Anyone else choose (ch)eat days when they're on forced rest days from exercise?
TL;DR: haven't had a full (ch)eat day in the last month, but today I'm not allowed to exercise at all, and exercise is how I curb my appetite.

Doc says I can't run today and to limit walking to 5,000 steps or less if I can because instead of a running blister, like I thought, I gave myself "metatarsalgia" under the ball of my dominate foot. Apparently, I increased my pace too quickly, for too long of a distance and the ball of my foot (and my shoes cushioning) was too thin to support my body weight so I was essentially punching the metatarsal with 3x my body weight with each step.
So I'm sitting here about to make myself three eggs and some baked beans for the first breakfast meal I've had in over a month using the rationale that if it's beneficial to eat when you have a bacterial infection while fasting then it's probably beneficial to eat while my body is recovering from a stupid injury I gave myself from running too hard.
I removed the progress picture in fear that it driving away commentors.
Nolensville Police Department’s Blue Envelope Program now underway
>NOLENSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Nolensville Police Department is bridging the gap between law enforcement and drivers on the autism spectrum.
>The Nolensville Police Department is starting its Blue Envelope Program. It’s a tool that allows drivers to share important information with officers during a traffic stop.
>Nolensville Police Chief Dale Armour said that immediately when a traffic stop occurs, everybody is stressed. If someone is having a sensory issue like blue lights flashing, flashlights or sirens, the blue envelope is a signal for officers to approach the situation with increased awareness and care.

This is actually really cool if it works as described.
Dude, never use a veggie brush on the inside of your jeans pocket...
It will not only brush off all the lint but it will also depill the fabric making it so silky smooth you'll never be able to go back to the first photo. (see: second photo)
Brought to you by my apparantly new sensory issue, lol.
What's your most mildlyinteresting observation about living in Nashville?
I'll go first, the wind blows from all four directions in this city, and I've always found that unique. .
This has been my pocket/worry/fidget stone for the last decade or so. I thought it was just a piece of river rock /tumbled basalt and never thought about it again.
But while walking in my dad's rock garden [*] a couple days ago I noticed one that looked just like it but was broken in half.
But instead of being black throughout it looks kind it's just a candy coating over some quartz. Dad says he's pretty sure it's not tourmaline and probably just some oxide.
[*] - dad has always brought home interesting rocks and put them in his rock garden outside. He said he thinks the ones that look like these came from Eastern Oregon.
