NGD - 1987 G&L ASAT

I picked this up in a trade yesterday, trading away a PRS S2 Singlecut Standard straight up.

I've always wanted a G&L, and specifically I've been interested in the ASAT, though I haven't had the chance to play one in a really long time. I jumped on this when it was offered!

The guitar feels great - the neck is small but comfortable, very easy to play. The body is HEAVY, that really surprised me...it almost feels like my Peavey T-60. I'll have to weight it to really be sure.

Sound-wise, it's very cool. Different from anything else that I own. The neck has a controlled bass to it that I enjoy, the bridge is bright without being harsh and responds well to dynamic playing. Haven't spent much time on the middle position yet.

Looking forward to putting more time on this beauty.

New pool owner - walked into a bunch of end of life gear, but it’ll be worth it in the end

I just purchased a new home and it has this 21k gallon pool, with PebbleTec finish. The previous owner owns a custom pool company, and this was his baby that he put in about 18 years ago. This is my first pool.

I have a lot to learn, but it’s going well so far - excepting that I needed to replace the pump (IntelliFlo 3HP VSF) and just ordered a new IntelliChlor IC60 cell because the old one is definitely end of life. It’s putting out so little chlorine that I’ve basically had to treat this as a traditional chlorine pool thus far.

By the way - I just got that IC60 for $1499, somehow, from my local Leslie’s. Seems like a crazy deal.

I’ve become intimately familiar with the Taylor test kit at this point and am still working on getting the water balanced (CYA is very, very low even after 6 lbs of stabilizer added via socks in the skimmers- it was reading at 0 when I moved in). We’ll get there, though, and it’s been amazing to have for the recent warm days that we’ve been able to get in.

Looking forward to learning from you all!
