Leto and Zeus, consensual or nah?

I keep finding different answers and can’t settle on one way or another for the book I am writing. Is it generally believed that Leto was seduced by Zeus and they, did it, consensually… or did he force himself on her? Wouldn’t be the first time he did that but some sources say she was with him willingly. Thoughts?

Female Greek Names

Hi everyone. I need 4-5 names for women during the ancient greek period that would be appropriate for priestesses at the Temple of Artemis. Not actual figures from greek mythology, just names that would fit the era and role. Thanks!

Leto

I’m doing some research into Leto as I think she’s fascinating but overlooked a lot of the time. I’m struggling to find sources that go into her story in any decent detail. If you have any ideas of where to start looking please let me know!

Visiting!

Hi there! I’m (26M) visiting Bath from Essex this Thursday to Sunday. I don’t have many plans, besides seeing the Roman Baths, so what would you recommend for a solo traveller? I like history, museums, reading, art, but open to whatever people think is best to see! Thanks!

Looking for a writing buddy that is hyperfixated with Greek Mythology as I am!

Hi everyone! I am about 14,000 words into a novel surrounding the Greek gods Artemis and Apollo, set in the modern day and focused around Olympus and modern Earth. I am looking to share my work with someone who enjoys Greek Mythology as much as I do! I am working my way through reading all the retellings, I started with Stephen Fry's and have since read Circe, Aphrodite in Pieces, Stone Blind and a few more are sitting at the top of my TBR, like Hera, Ariadne and Athena's Daughter. If you are in a similar position and want to read my work and give some advice and feedback, that would be fantastic! Similarly, if you are an author in a similar genre I would love to read your work. Feel free to send me a DM! Thanks everyone!

[26/M] Looking for Penpals local and abroad!

This is my first time posting to this channel and I am very excited to hopefully get some correspondence, there's no feeling like getting a handwritten letter in the post and it not being a bill!

A few things about me:

- I am from Clacton-on-Sea, a seaside town on the coast of Essex in the UK. If you're from the UK you might recognise the name of the town fro the news but don't worry, I'm not one of them... IYKYK

- I am a primary school teacher, I love my job and it is so rewarding. I would love to talk about what you do for a living and share stories. Children say the funniest things. I am currently on summer break so have plenty of time for writing!

- I love to read. I read a load of crime novels, thrillers, romance and Greek Mythology inspired writing. I have just finished Aphrodite in Pieces by Lauren J. A. Bear - a fantastic book you should check out.

- I am also an aspiring writer! I am currently working on a novel set in the world of Greek Mythology focusing on the two gods Artemis and Apollo who are investigating the disappearance of their mother, Leto. I would love to hear about anything you have written and get your opinions on my work!

- I like to bake and would really be interested in swapping recipes.

- I love to travel. I have just come back from a holiday in Athens which is the 17th foreign city I have visited to date! I have a trip planned in a few weeks to Bath in England.

I would really like the opportunity to connect with someone, maybe on the other side of the world! I can share pictures of my life and friends and hopefully get an insight into your own world. Send me a DM if you are interested!

Why have I never heard of this?

I was travelling home from Athens to London when I came across this book in the airport. I had never heard of it but as a lover of all things greek mythology I decided to give it a go. I am so glad I did. This is one of the most fantastic books I have ever read. It describes Aphrodite’s life in such vivid detail while giving insight into the lives of other gods and goddesses. I would highly recommend you go out and get a copy!!

Hi everyone! I’m looking for a long term writing buddy as I write my novel, The Children of Leto. It’s based around Artemis and Apollo who investigate the disappearance of their mother, Leto. I am looking for someone to help with accountability and procrastination, something to bounce ideas off of and swap manuscripts if you’re writing something similar! DM me if this is something you’d be interested in, would be great to have someone to give me a hand!

Tips for avoiding procrastination!

Hi everyone. I am a teacher currently on summer break and want to use the time to write my novel. The problem is procrastination, I cannot seem to stop myself from getting sidetracked and I end up at the end of the day with nothing to show for it. Even writing this post is me sat at my laptop on reddit instead of writing!! Does anyone have any tips for focus and staying on task? Thanks all :)

Book recommendations?

I have read all of Stephen Fry’s books and loved them. I know they’re not everyone’s favourites but I like them! I have reserved a copy of Circe, but what else would you recommend I read? Fiction or otherwise! Thanks! 📚
