I recently beat dark souls 3 for the first time but I was really confused about Aldrich being a slime monster. The characters say he ate a bunch of people and he turned into slime. But in his fight he is clearly still normal looking and it seems more like he is just inside the slime instead of actually being the slime himself. And once you kill him the room is still full of slime which makes it seem like the slime is not actually a part of him. So what exactly is all the slime?

I have been looking into my local orgs to participate in my community but I have been confused about them asking if I want to be a member or a volunteer. Its not like you are being paid even if you are a member so what exactly is the difference?

Hello friends, I live in a part of the world that is overrun with cartels and large gangs. They have been enslaving the population and the government cant or wont do anything about it. Our women and children are basically being slaughtered for their organs to be sold. I have read a lot of socialist writings but I have been curious about this topic.

Socialist theory is mostly about combating the oppression of capitalist elites and imperialists but how can socialism address regions that are basically operating under warlordism and not really capitalism proper? Even if you replace the government with a socialist one, what do you do about these organizations filled with people who literally torture and dismember innocent people?

I have gotten several different conflicting responses to this question so I would like to ask it here. Is democratic socialism the idea that socialism should have democratic characteristics such as party members getting elected or is it the idea that socialism can be achieved through democratic means such as elections? Whenever I try to look up democratic socialism its pretty much always just definitions aimed at liberals trying to explain socialism in general but never definitions aimed at other socialists so i am confused on this.

I personally care a lot about protecting children from predators and it seems like there are so many of them around the world. In the US there are at least 800,000 registered sex offenders and it is estimated that only around 12% of instances of child SA are actually reported. This would put the number of child predators potentially in the millions and globally it could be tens or even hundreds of millions of pedophiles.

So what can be done about this in a socialist society? this seems like such a deep rooted issue I would have no idea how to even go about solving this.

I have mixed feelings about the story as someone on team black. I think pretty much everyone on team black would have liked an ending that was >!more feminist in nature even if Rhaenyra doesnt end up on the throne. Ultimately even if her bloodline ends up ruling its still her male heir who becomes ruler and every other female Targeryen for the rest of the book is basically a copy and paste fantasy princess. It really feels like Rhaenyra and her cause is never avenged or vindicated in any meaningful way and just becomes forgotten. The only one who really comes out winning in the dance is Cregan Stark who is a man and Westeros is rebuilt mostly by men. it kind of feels like George had a blindspot in this area where he made a story of a woman getting fucked over by the patriarchy and then ended it with men saving the day and never addressing what happened. Imagine if the story ended in the same way but Aegon 3 is a girl and the first true queen of Westeros is Rhaenyra's daughter or something like that.!< What are your thoughts?

I have always wondered how accurately the USSR is depicted in this game since I don't really know anything about the Afghanistan campaign. The game seems mostly morally neutral towards the USSR and they arent really your enemy as much as they are just in your way. Obviously they didn't have any giant robots but as far as their weaponry, equipment, and general military behavior how accurate is the game?

Hello friends, I would like your thoughts on this because I have always been a bit confused on what people actually mean when they say they are a Maoist in the modern day. Most of the ones I have interacted with are pretty much exactly the same as Marxist Leninists when it comes to the actual actions they do IRL like joining PSL or something like that. The main difference I have noticed is that (I dont mean this as an insult its just what I have noticed) they seem to really like infighting with other socialists and trying to do "struggle sessions" but I have only ever seen that online and never IRL. My only negative experience with them has been a couple times when I was told that the only thing I should do as an American is move to a global south country because socialism is impossible in the US. I myself am an immigrant from a global south country to the US so im not really interested in moving back and in my own experience the working class there isnt any better than the US so I dont see what the point would be anyway. And also basically nobody is actually moving to the global south to spread socialism so what is the actual main difference?

I have been watching this miniseries for the last week and it seems interesting but I can't help but notice the occasional weird scene or dialogue such as a random mention of the Holodomor and stuff like that. It seems kind of negative about the USSR in general but how accurate is it to what happened in Chernobyl?
