Just barely getting into section 3/4 and Mario Circuit's song is already starting! I love when this happens during intermission races: Too late for another Free Roam song/too early for the destination track's song.

To this day, I still believe this is the WORST retro track in the series, IMO. Reasons below.

While the music is fantastic (it's saving grace), they removed:

Half of the rowboats in the Chao Phraya River

The left ramp at the Meaklong Railway Market

Inky Piranha Plants at the BTS Sky Train

All Tuk-Tuks on Khaosan Road

Trick ramps inside the Esplanade Ratchadaphisek, before the Talat Rotfai area.

The beautiful skybox from the OG

Again, the music is great and I'm glad we at least got the track here. But it lost a lot from what made it so grand. Here's a list of all the things added: Sidesteppers, N64-style Piranha Plants, and Fireworks.

I've been pondering about this for too long. What the heck is the Lightning Cup's background supposed to be?!

Mario Kart World breaks the tradition of cups being sorted by region rather than difficulty.

The cup's icons represent that with their backgrounds.

Mushroom Cup - Mesa (rocky buttes)

Flower Cup - Desert (sand dunes)

Star Cup - Snow (snow)

Shell Cup - Water (ocean waves)

Banana Cup - Tropical/Jungle (palm trees)

Leaf Cup - Forest (leaves)

Special Cup - Rainbow (To Rainbow Road)

The Lightning Cup is mostly industrial theme in the dark volcano region (and then there's Moo Moo Meadows) but the icon just looks like the Flower Cup's sand dunes but white. You'd think it would be dark gray with lava or something.
