I only have one week to go!! it got here so much faster than I thought it would!

2 months ago, I didn't think this day would ever come. but I only have a week to go! I'm so excited and so anxious at the same time...lol! 🤪 it's a big transition after 55+ years of working, but until I experience it, I'm not even going to know how big it is!

next tuesday, my work is throwing me a little going away party, and I know everybody and their mother is going to ask me "what are you going to do now?"

I've already decided my standard answer is going to be: "well after I get done sleeping in for a couple months, I'm going to start lollygagging." 🤣 I mean I'm not going to do a dang thing for a good long time. That's the whole idea... stop "doing!"

I do have my list of things that I eventually will get to and get a sort of weekly schedule set up for myself, but I don't even want to think about that yet... it'll come when it's time. 👍🏻😃

I'm going to ease into retirement "like an old man in a nice, warm bath." (<---george costanza)

Why don't cars have automatic posted speed limit recognition?

when I take a long trip somewhere, I use an app called waze. when you're driving down a road or the highway, it shows you what the posted speed limit is.... and more importantly if you are over it. if the speed limit changes, it makes a little beep and shows you the new speed limit. (I'm not 100% sure, but I believe the speed limits were/are entered by thousands of other users of the app, and there is now a huge, fantastic database of roads showing the speed limits.)

why don't cars already have that built-in capacity to show you what the posted speed limit is, and then to indicate either by beep or color change if you are over it? it's so handy to have and would really help reduce people driving too fast I think.

it seems like car makers could partner with waze to access that database, and make it a built-in system... so that your car just did that and you didn't have to open a separate app. imho, this would be a huge feature for buyers of new cars, and waze would make bundles off of it I would think.... in addition to people who drive using the app.

maybe nobody's ever thought of it before?

What is this?

so I have diverticulosis, and have had a couple of diverticulitis flare ups/ infections (treated with antibiotic), and I do really good for a few months. I'm taking fiber and trying to stay very regular and not do anything outrageous in my eating.

then lower left side cramps will come along out of the blue, and the diarrhea starts. no fever... nothing beyond that. and the diarrhea just keeps lasting for weeks, even after the cramping has gone away.

I don't feel like getting on an antibiotic, while it may help, is good... I'm just afraid of taking them too often.

I call this a flare up, but I don't really know what it is and I don't really know how to get rid of it. it's so irritating!!

anyone else have something like this or know what to do?

Good for single person?

I am *really not* into cooking. at all. 😖 I hate all the prep work, complicated recipes, etc. that you have to do for cooking.

having said that, I'm trying to get more vegetables into my diet. I've seen a couple of good, easy, fast-prep air fryer "recipes" for veggies on the internet, and wondered: do you think a small air fryer would be worth it for someone like me (single)?

and please, please don't just say "yes" because you love yours....lol! 🤣 seriously.

I am *really not* into cooking.... I can't stress that enough.

Anti-plaque Mouthwash: does this really do anything?

does rinsing your mouth with an anti-plaque mouthwash after brushing (and not rinsing out with water afterwards) really do anything in the way of helping reduce tartar, plaque, and dental issues?

Daily Headaches: Inflammation?

so I've been getting a daily headache almost every single day since april of 2025, when I had COVID. I can think of a handful of sporadic days in that time period, when I really didn't have the headache, but otherwise it's been every dang day... and I think it's getting worse. it's in the exact same spot, and is somewhere between a stress and a migraine headache. I was on migraine medication for about 6 months, which didn't do anything to help. tylenol doesn't do anything either.

the ONLY thing that will put any kind of damper on it is ibuprofen... but only for like 6 hours. however, I have kidney issues, so I'm holding off on taking that like every 5th or 6th day, which is probably still too often, but sometimes I just want to jump out of my skin because I need some kind of relief!

I'm sort of guessing by trial and error, that this headache is some kind of an inflammation response (since ibuprofen seems to help), so I've been looking at anti-inflammatory supplements. it looks like omega-3 fish oil might be worth looking into as an anti-inflammatory. I know it can give you stomach issues, so I'm going to buy enteric-coated ones so that I don't have fish burps/stomach issues.

anyone have any kind of experience with headaches, and any thing that helps to reduce them? or with fish oil supplements for this?

i really, really, really want to have "silver sneakers," so I can go swimming regularly and not have to pay for a full gym membership (they are freakin' expensive!)

I heard some medicare supplement plans/companies include silver sneakers, so I was just wondering if anyone here knows anything about that?

half my extended family lives in the seattle area, and some of us we're thinking of doing a girl's/women's trip this summer for maybe 3-4 days (4-6 people). we've always gone down to the oregon coast, lincoln city area, because we have lots of other family down there as well. but we wanted to keep this summer's trip sort of low-key, with less people, and not have to drive so far (we all live in seattle).

I've never been on the washington coast, and would love some recommendations of areas that have a good, walkable beach, aren't too expensive, have B&B's so we can cook our own meals, and other interesting activities around them (cute/cozy town, hiking, museums, etc... we're NOT into shopping!!). and the shortest drive from seattle of course would be optimum.

any recommendations of a city/area along the washington coast or even specific B&Bs would be great! thanks!
