General build questions for Fighter/Rogue

My questions are on level split and progression (Going Battle Master/Swashbuckler for Duelist themed character) - Will be rapier fighter so not doing the Scimitar/Short Sword routine (If I can help it)

If I do not get a magic weapon with a damage boost (Vicious) Goto level 11? (for 3 attacks)

If I do get a magic weapon with a Damage boost Level 5/6? (For 2 attacks)

Since going fencer more than Sneak/Scout go Fighter first?

Go straight to level 5/6 before rogue? How to progress from level 1.

Vestige Warlock Pet build or Blade build (War domain)

What would be best damage dealer?

How would you build them?

For Vestige I thought Undead / Celestial / Infernal floating Blade for "Hexblade"

Need help on Build for a Character that goes one on many

I am working on a character that I want to go into mobs and take on more than one at a time.

I want to go Hunter ranger for Horde Breaker with Great Axe (Cleave) and 2 Light Nick Weapons (Scimitar)

I am thinking

Attack with Great Axe against target A

Horde Breaker against Target B

Then Cleave either Target A or Target C

When the character gets 2nd attack to then hit weakest target with 2nd attack and Nick attack (Or one on target A and another on Target B)

So, I know I need at least 3 levels in Ranger.

Should I go Barbarian Berserker or World Tree

Should I go Fighter Battle Master (Maneuvers and maybe 3 attacks per attack action.)

Should I go Paladin Vengeance (Smite and Advantage)

What suggested level Break downs.

Thank you

Idea came from a Dragon Born Miniature I have and the elder Scroll combat I saw on Youtube a while ago (one knight against an adventuring party)

Gambit Homage

With random online info on Mystic Monk from Arcana Unleashed I am working on a Fantasy themed Gambit homage character.

I have a level 1 monk at the moment with Magic Initiate (A fire and Ice card and 3 flying cards (Magic Missile)) and Shadowmoor Hexer for Hex.

Do not know off hand how to progress build wise.

What spells would be good for the Homage and should I Multiclass into Rogue (If so what subclass)

This may seem FAMILIAR...

Anyone with early access able to make a fun build with the most/all Familiar related spells/Feats (Or list them with brief info)?

Also, how this can relate to Pact of the Chain?

Thank you.

Ghost Rider Homage

I have a Vengeance Paladin/Undead Warlock I am using as a base for the Homage.

I wonder if I can do the Divine/Eldritch combo Smite and re-flavor it as the Penance Stare.

Eldrich Smite is with Pact Weapon

Divine is weapon/Unarmed.

I can try to ask DM but is there a way to make it work. Even if it only works in melee range.

Builder 2.0

In the 2026 road map, Character builder was right under Aracena Unleashed.

In the 2027 road map from GEN CON there was no mention of Character Builder 2.0 under arcana Unleashed.

It is still in the IN-Progress section of Roadmap page in DDBeyond.

Just asking if there is any update/Comment on the release.

BANSHEE

https://preview.redd.it/6tch7vwqaobh1.png?width=256&format=png&auto=webp&s=876d2b65afd17f959ad05c1c69d816fc37fa72f7

Pre 2024 I have a Chosen of the Raven Queen Vengeance Paladin (Divine Gift) Then Hexblade Warlock (Arcane gift) Then Divine Soul Sorcerer (Divine/Arcane Gift).

With 2024 and new Ravenloft book I thought about rebuilding the character.

Story Wise I can try to keep original backstory or Update backstory to...  Angela was a tyro Paladin and part of a group sent to clear out undead from a desecrated temple so the clerics can re-consecrate it.  There was a Banshee in the mob and Angelia went down protecting one of the clerics, The cleric healed Angela.  Surviving the Banshee attack earned her the nickname Banshee and was called that more than her real name.  Through the experience she was “Reborn”

Species = Reborn for Insight Resist Poison or Cold (Resist Necrotic from Warlock.) Death Save and ‘undead constitution’

Background= Custom: For Savage attacker (using a D12 weapon) Perception, Survival, Cook’s Utensils.

Ability Scores: BASE: 13 / 10 / 16 / 8 / 10 / 17 END: 15 / 10 / 18 / 8 / /10 / 20

Class: *** Paladin (Vengeance) 8 / Warlock (Undead) 12***

Paladin 1 = Athletics and intimidation, Lay on hands.

Paladin 2 = Great Axe / Great Sword, Blind Fighting, Smites

Warlock 1 = Pact of the Blade

Warlock 2 = Pact of the Chain (Raven familiar from Raven Queen), LotFO (Tough)

Warlock 3 = Undead for Form of Dread

Warlock 4 for Shadow Touched CHA and Inflict wounds.

Warlock 5 = Thirsting Blade & Eldritch Smite.

Paladin 3 = Vengeance / Vow

Paladin 4 = Great Weapon Master (Boost to Great Axe Damage)

Paladin 5 = Extra attack (got Thirsting Blade so may retrain Invocation), Steed,

Paladin 6 = Aura of Protection

Paladin 7 = Relentless avenger (Sentinel type subclass feature)

Paladin 8 = Charism +2

Warlock 6 = Grave Touched

Warlock 7 = Whispers of the Grave = Free Speak with dead

Warlock 8 = Heavey Armor Master (Slight damage debuff)

Warlock 9 = Contact patron and Life Drinker

Warlock 10 = Long wait for Necrotic resistance. (May ask DM if Reborn can Have resistance to Necrotic and retrain it out at this level)

Warlock 11 = Arcanum For Create Undead (Fight undead with Undead) Or True Seeing.

Warlock 12 = CON +2 (Is late for HP boost so may replace CHA +2 with this)

Notes:

On a good Hit Divine + Eldridge Smite for damage to a Hit.

Have savage attacker so no need for GW Fighting.  Instead of a 1 or 2 becoming a 3 just reroll weapon damage die

Can cast Find Steed at 5^(th) level so can have a flying Nightmare

Pearl of Power and Rod of Pact Keeper for extra spell slots

Vicious Weapon +2D6 damage to every Hit

Magic Plate (Will be using 2 handed Weapon so Defense Fighting style till AC high enough)

Swap Heavey Armor master for +2 CON SO CON and HP increased early

Spells:

Paladin: Bless, Compelled Duel, Cure Wounds, Divine Favor, Protection from Evil and Good, Wrathful Smite, Shining Smite

Warlock:  Blade Ward, Chill Touch, Eldritch Blast, Green Flame Blade (Did not want the loud Kaboom), Armor of Agathys, Cause Fear, Tasha’s Hideous Laughter, Witch Bolt, Counter spell, Fear, Vampiric Touch, Shadow of Moil, Hold Monster, Synaptic Static

Path to the Grave +

With the new Grave cleric, at level 3 (or 4 if you want a feat right away), you can Bonus action and spend a Channel Divinity to impose disadvantage to a saving throw on a creature within 30' till start of your next turn so as an action you can cast a spell with a saving throw and give the target disadvantage.

Looking to Multiclass into Sorcerer, Bard or Warlock. Any suggestions on spell selection?

so far, I have Sorcerer 1 for CON save and innate Sorcery then Cleric 3-4 for path to the grave.

Wondering progression after that?

Banshee

Working on a concept for a character using the new Ravenloft book. Will be going Conquest Paladin if going 3+ levels / Undead Warlock.

At the moment a level 1 Reborn Paladin.

Based on a MINI That prompted a background that hinted at a build.

On her first mission, s group of paladins that Angelica was a part of was to clear a Banshee from an abandoned temple. It did not go so well for Angelica. One of the more experienced Paladins healed Angelica after a grievous wound. Angelica was not just healed but 'Reborn' and nicknamed Banshee by her companions.

How many Levels in Paladin and How any in Warlock.

Does it matter when the campaign ends (character level)?

Character is a GW user. Great Axe.

Original was a metal mini with a Great Sword. Will try to add to post at a later date.

Mi Initiate False Life.

For a build, I have a MI and for the 1st level spell I am using False Life. (Want to keep Reaction free)

How long would this be good for. (Non-Spellcaster so used before potential Combat)

New Undead Warlock level 6 ability

What would be some good spells for an undead warlock to get to help maximize the damage based on their level 6 ability?

Was going to revamp Kensie for 2024 but decided on a feat instead.

Feat: Thrown Mastery

General Feat, Level 4+ Monk

Ability Score Increase. Increase your Dexterity or Strength score by 1, to a maximum of 20.

Way of the Soaring Leaf.  When using a Monk Weapon with the thrown property, you may replace you Bonus Unarmed strikes (Either the Basic MA unarmed Strike or the unarmed strikes from Flurry of Blows and Heightened Flurry of Blows) with throwing your monk weapon.

Long Shots. Attacking at long range with a Monk weapon with the thrown property doesn’t impose Disadvantage on your attack rolls with Thrown weapons at long range.

I wanted a Monk subclass that was master of throwing weapons, but it seemed it could be resolved with a feat instead of a Subclass (in my opinion)

Looking to Optimize Shadow Blade in 2024

I have read a few threads on other forums and saw this

Paladin 2 - None.

Warlock 5 - Fiend.

Bard 13 - Whisper.

Level 7 ShadowBlade = 5D8+Mod

Level 7 Divine Smite = 7D8

Level 3 Pact slot - Eldridge Smite = 4D8

Level 10 Psychic Blades = 5D6

Any help optimizing will help

Stats / Feats / Species / Other aspects of the build I should consider.

Round 1 Damaging Cantrip and Bonus action cast shadow blade

Round 2 Make Shadowblade into Pact weapon and attack

Problem is no Divine Smite till round 3.

Shadow Blade2024

I wonder if this is good for a build

Level 1 Fighter (Armor and weapons)

Level 19 Undead Warlock

RE:

Dueling Fighting Style Medium Armor (Low STR) and Shield and Rapier for when not using Shadow blade.

Invocations PotB, E. Smite, Thirsting Blade, Life Drinker, Devouring Blade.

This is the Painful part.

Bonus action for form of dread. Temp HP, No Fear, once per turn chance to cause fear.

Bonus action Summon Shadow Blade

Bonus action Make Shadow blade Pact blade.

Shadow Blade ignores Necrotic Resistance (after being Pact Weapon)

When in form of Dread, once per turn add damage die (Does this mean 1D8 or 4D8) to one attack damage.

May Turn 1

Action Damaging cantrip Bonus action Summon Shadow Blade

Turn 2

Bonus action makes Shadow Blade Pact Blade

Action Attack with Shadow Blade.

I do not know off hand a good time to activate Form of Dread. SO, if anyone has a good idea, I am open to suggestions.

Turn 3 if long fight or save it for second fight (So can get temp HP after getting hurt previous fight)

Create a Storm spell Slinger in 2026

I am thinking Level 3 Tempest Cleric and Level 17 Scribe Wizard.

Looking for help with Spell Selection. 2 times per LR (3 if I get Amulet of the Devout) I can maximize Lightning Damage.

I looked though spells and got 1 Lightning damage spell per level. Scribe can transform the damage of a spell to one in their spell Book of the same level.

Are my picks OK or will lower-level spells and just upcasting them be better.

At the moment. Wizard spells =

Cantrip - Lightning Lure

  1. Witch Bolt
  2. Dragon Breath
  3. Lightning Bolt
  4. Storm Sphere
  5. Conjure Elemental
  6. Chain Lightning
  7. Prismatic Spray - Hope this counts
  8. Illusory Dragon
  9. Prismatic Wall

What spells should I add to do lots of damage if I do not have to roll damage dice and just get MAX DAMAGE.

IS Grave Cleric / Long Death Monk Viable?

I wonder if a Cleric/Monk or Monk/Cleric is viable.

With the new Grave Cleric and the Yet to be updated Long Death Monk (Thought New Ravenloft book would be good option for Subclass update) How well will this work.

Looking for help and suggestions before I get sucked into theory Crafting with who knows how long till I find a way out.

Thank you.

If other combos came to your mind when reading the Subclasses, share your combo ideas here.
