1970’s Watercolor of the Boardwalk
I got this today (the original no less) in Adamstown, PA. Apparently the artist is a reading local who has since passed away. Thought yall might enjoy this view of the boardwalk

Not the yankee with extra brim ☠️
I had to do some deeper cleaning of our unit today, and this was in the dust chute. Is this a piece of the robot that fell off and I should try to fix, or just random household viscera

Not a sponsored post, but this is a really interesting and also good festbier. This year it’s a Munich malt straw colored lager, but it’s dry-hopped with Cascade and Hersbrucker (a floral grassy old world hop).
It’s really light and delicious even at 6% abv., and the bitter and floral flavor from the hops is delicious. But you want to get it now, I don’t think the flavor from the hops will make it to your Oktoberfest celebration in October.
Yall im trying, i literally googled it and some sketchy website is trying to tell me i need to press the S button?
We have by far the best pre-game in the country with the exception of one thing.
Everything builds and builds, the band plays, the eagle flies, the hype video hows goes. It’s all perfect; but then it breaks down.
We cannot decide if we want the team to run out to the fight song, or to recorded music and it just absolutely doesn’t work.
So what happens is that we have the super loud hype video play, then they show the team ready to go, welcome to the jungle or something similar starts playing at full volume. But then they run out, it cuts off and the band plays but they can’t come anywhere near close to the volume. It’s a weird awkward transition and it ruins the hype of what should be the climax.
We need to do one of two things
After the hype video, don’t play more music, have the band play “thumb chant” (slow war eagle/the turnover song) and then have the team run out to the fight song when it transitions to the full song
Pick a song and stick with it and run out to that, and do a different transition to the fight song. If I was in charge (and im not) we’d use New Noise by Refused and they would run out at “can i scream?”
This is all back of the napkin stuff.
But I’ve just been thinking around the nature of where they are implemented and the average player.
RTG and Dynasty are big modes, but I think that consumer behavior for the average big-time players of these modes is much different from that of UT. What is the average expected value per-copy of the transactions in the single player modes? $0.25, $0.50? Most people aren’t going to touch them, and unlike UT they aren’t set up to be a constant cash cow even accounting for those who will use them.
The game is $70 at retail, I’m not gonna pretend to do a comparison or some further bullshit math of how many fewer copies they would need to sell to change the calculation. However, the disparity I believe is likely very large between purchase price and the likely value of these new fees. Because of this I do think it’s more possible that a boycott could work than some might assume.
Sorry for the copy paste from the other page; just the nature of a split community like this

I’ve lived in Wilmington for a few years now and I’m ashamed to say I somehow never made it down until this weekend.
Wow. I’ve never been in a place that more feels like stepping back in time except maybe the French quarter. This was more intensely historical than anything I’ve seen even in Boston or Philadelphia, and with plenty of things to do and eat.
It’s crazy, we have maybe the single best preserved colonial city on the east coast outside of Williamsburg, and no one really talks about it? Maybe it is better that way though.
Very happy with my latest find for the basement bar.
The clock doesn’t work and I was planning on getting rid of it anyway for something more appropriate, but just really loved the pagoda shape.
I have had 0 luck though finding any information at all, or anything remotely similar.
Anyone recognize it?
Open to any suggestions on how to restyle what’s currently the clock as well!
Update: still have no clue who made it, but tentatively placed in the bar. However due to the basement bar set up, there isn’t a way to have it at full height where I would like so the clock is removed. The top is now a less attractive black surface (same as the inside of the cabinets). I’m leaning towards doing decopage on top with some reproduction travel poster prints, or placing a vintage leather suitcase on top with tropical luggage stickers
Hi there,
I apologize for adding to the flood of posts for potential visits but I tried to do some digging and couldn’t find a great answer.
We are planning our first trip to Wildwood this summer, and were curious if anyone had recommendations for any of the old Doo Wop Motels? We are big Midcentury people and really want to stay in one of the old motels, but wanted to know if anyone had recommendations on which ones have stayed nice, and which ones have not. We know not to expect full hotel amenities, but a bed in a safe room with no bed bugs is good enough for us.
This is a joke people, it’s just funny how many there are in downtown Lewes and Rehoboth in the big hot spots taking up full blocks
