Leaving kitten for a week

I recently adopted a 2.5-month-old kitten and had him with me for about two weeks. Everything was going well until I had to leave unexpectedly for a week because of a medical emergency.

My sister is currently cat-sitting him and has brought the little guy to her place. From what I can tell, he seems to be adjusting really well and looks happy there.

My concern/question is whether he’ll still remember me when I get back.

He’s now sleeping with my sister and attached to her, and I’m worried about all the transitions he’s having to go through at such a young age, especially once I come back and take him again.

Edit: to say that I am a new cat mom and my first cat.

[Misc] Facial cut scars, any similar experience?

I got a pretty big cut on my face from an accident. I went to the ER when it happened, and they said it didn’t need stitches. About two weeks later, I also saw an aesthetic doctor, and she told me that as long as I take care of it properly over the next few months, it looks like it should fade. She also said it’s still very early, so the redness is normal, and the scar hasn’t fully matured yet. If I need any other intervention later on, we can deal with it then.

I’m trying to trust the process and be diligent with the aftercare, but honestly, it’s been really hard emotionally.

I’ve been doing my makeup every day and leaving that spot untouched with any cosmetics (honestly it looks like the rest of my face got ready for the day, and that one area filed for medical leave. lol)

I’ve also avoided putting moisturizer on it and have only been using Scarlite as per Doctor. I can’t really put SPF on the area right now because my sunscreen has vitamin C and other acids, which also stresses me out because I’m someone who takes skincare seriously and I don’t think I’ve gone a day without sunscreen before this.

I also have a few year old scars I got when I was younger that became keloidal, so that’s been adding to my anxiety.

I guess I’m just looking for comfort or reassurance (since I can’t call my Dr every time I freak out ) Has anyone had a noticeable facial cut or wound that ended up healing okay over time? How long did it take before you can cover it with makeup?

I know nobody can predict exactly how mine will heal, but I’d love to hear positive healing stories.

Hong Kong snack I should try

I’ll be flying to Hong Kong pretty often in the next few years, and one thing I’ve really enjoyed is just wandering around supermarkets and convenience stores.

A lot of the snacks, drinks, chips, instant noodles, and random products on the shelves are new to me. I’ve been trying a few things here and there.

What are your favorite HK snacks, drinks, supermarket/convenience store finds, or even local dishes and casual places to eat? I’d love to try the things locals actually enjoy.

First time cat owner. Cat being smothered… afraid it will make him spoiled?

I recently adopted a 2 month old kitten, and it is my first cat ever. I have absolutely no experience in raising a cat.

He is extremely sociable and loves to play, is very comfortable with us.

My family loves this cat. Everyone comes (I live 5 mins away from my family) and pets him and gives him treats and plays with him at all times. Whenever I get busy, which is most of the time, someone is there to watch and entertain him. Which sounds like a dream..

My only issue is really the fact that if these all stopped, will it make my cat whine and complain? I am afraid he is being smothered and will become spoiled and used to always being given attention?

Should I impose early boundaries and mandatory naptimes? Has anyone here gotten their kitten at a very young age and allowed different people to pet and handle them early on? How did they turn out as they grew older?

34F looking for friends

Hi! I’m in my mid 30s, I like tea, sunsets, yoga, space, and nature. I love traveling and reading. My absolute dream is to look at the moon and just eat fruit. It’s hard making friends as an adult. Come shoot me a message if you have time to chat!

Relaxing science podcast for winding down

Looking for recommendations for content with a calm, low, soothing tone of voice, something ideal for winding down or falling asleep to. (edited to remove platform preference.. any will do)

I’m not looking for loud, high-energy, overly conversational voices. I prefer something gentle, steady, and relaxing, with a similar feel to David Attenborough’s narration. Nature, science or anything related is appreciated. :)

Children of co-parenting parents where one absolutely hated the other, how did it affect you growing up?

TLDR: my mom hates my dad and painted an entire “neglectful, deadbeat father” image to me and has told me untrue things, but my father has in fact, fought so hard to be with me and show me he loves me, and now realizing things I was told by my mom growing up may not be true. How do I process?

For basically my whole life, I grew up knowing my mother hated my father. They never married and when I was younger, my mother fought so I wouldn’t have my dad’s last name. Back then, I didn’t really understand any of it because my mom has always given a certain narrative that feels untrue to my experience.

But now that I am older, I am starting to realize that my dad actually fought really hard to just stay in life. And honestly, it sounds like it drained him emotionally and financially. I also realized that if my mom had won whose court fights (there is more than 1), my dad probably would have lost a lot of visitation rights over me, and I maybe would not even really know him today.

It’s honestly confusing growing up and slowly realizing that the story you were told as a kid might not have been the full picture.

My mom would tell me my dad didn’t love me, abandoned me, didn’t care, but he never really missed a single visitation or birthday and I have felt nothing but love and care from him. I don’t remember a moment he was ever mean or the bad father my mom pictured him to be. It feels like my mom wants to convince me by instilling this picture and it messes with my head because I experience it a different way. Mom also said that my father only sends 200+ child support but I asked my father, and he showed me that he has sent 800-1000 every month since I was 1. One time, my mom kept me away from my father and I was told that he abandoned me when he missed child support, but I learned now that my father fought so much to see me again and has sent me so much texts but my mom withheld it from me.

My mom continues to hate my father to this very day, and I guess, I struggle to make sense why everything is framed to me in a different way and how do I process this realization?

My mom told me one time that if I keep telling people what happens in the house, I might not be able to see my little brother anymore.

Has anyone gone through something like this? Especially realizing as an adult that your understanding of your parents’ relationship wasn’t exactly what you were told?
