[Megathread] FIFA World Cup Vancouver 2026

We've put together a megathread over on r/vancouver to help showcase local events and answer common World Cup questions:

#FIFA World Cup r/ Vancouver Megathread

That said, FIFA and World Cup questions are totally welcome here. That's the whole point of this sub: to provide an ask/answer location for questions about Metro Vancouver, which includes Q&A about the World Cup. If you see a World Cup-related question that's already been answered, feel free to link them to the megathread or an existing thread rather than just telling them to search.

Common topics people are asking about right now:

  • Where to watch games in Vancouver (fan zones, bars, free events): check out our megathread for links by city
  • The FIFA Fan Festival at the PNE: what it's like, how to get there, whether you need tickets
  • BC Place match days: transit, parking, what to bring, what's not allowed
  • Visiting Vancouver for the World Cup: hotels, neighbourhoods, getting around
  • Canada's schedule and where to watch locally: check out our megathread for links by city
  • Finding people to watch with: (Vancouver FIFA WC Fan Friend Finder)

If you're a visitor to our city, welcome!

Quick reminder: r/Vancouver and r/AskVan do not allow any ticket sales posts or comments. Any comments attempting to buy or sell tickets should be reported.

Vancouver is officially one of the host cities for FIFA World Cup 2026™, and the tournament kicks off tomorrow. ##Staying on the North Shore

North Van has a genuinely great local option for locals in North Vancouver:

Features live broadcasts, partner activations, retail pop-ups, and opportunities to meet Canadian soccer legends on select days. Running June 11–July 7. ##Crossing a bridge

For the SeaBus crowd, the FIFA Fan Festival at the PNE is a short trip across the water. It runs from June 11 to July 19 at Hastings Park with free general admission, live match broadcasts, music, food, and fan activities.

[MEGATHREAD] Emergency Amber Alert

Update: the AMBER Alert has been cancelled and the kids are home safe.

Edit: Please remember, everyone, why and when AMBER Alerts happen. They are only for the utmost, most serious and time-critical child abduction cases. An AMBER Alert can only be activated by law enforcement if all of the following conditions are met:

  • The victim is under the age of 18.
  • Police have reasonable grounds to believe that the victim has been abducted.
  • Police have reasonable grounds to believe the victim is in imminent danger.
  • Police have obtained enough descriptive information about the victim, abductor and/or the vehicle involved.
  • Police believe that the alert can be issued in a time frame that will provide a reasonable expectation that the child can be returned or the abductor apprehended

AMBER Alerts are supposed to get your attention.

Yes, that's right. We had a test of our emergency alert system today. Whether or not your phone made a Big Sound, this is your thread to complain about or compliment it.

Please choose from the available template emergency alert thread comment options:

  1. I didn't get a notification.
  2. I did get a notification.
  3. I got a notification, but no sound, and thus believe I may die in the event of an actual emergency.
  4. The alert freaked me out, and now I'm having a mild panic attack.
  5. I love test alerts!
  6. Test alerts are dumb.
  7. My cat/dog/ferret/hamster/fish/goose* hated the alert sound.
  8. I didn't panic and now I'm a little concerned about myself
  9. I was in the middle of something and I'm not saying what.
  10. The alert was fine but the 18 group texts about it afterwards were not.
  11. I haven't slept in five days and I have nine job interviews tomorrow and I finally fell asleep at noon only to be woken up by this fucking alert! This Government is the worst!
