Visiting Bhilai for a couple of weeks! Looking for local food and heritage spot recommendations

Hey everyone,

I will be in Bhilai for two weeks (21st to 6th) visiting my in-laws. I am from down south, about an hour from Kanyakumari, so this is my first proper time exploring Chhattisgarh.

My wife will show me around, but I would love to get some unfiltered local suggestions on:

  • Day Trips: Anything with history, ancient temples, ruins, or scenic architecture within driving distance(preferably within a couple of hours).
  • Food: I eat non-veg and really want to try authentic Chhattisgarhi delicacies and local street food favorites.

Drop your go-to spots, hidden gems, and must-try dishes. Thanks in advance!

How to structure a self-insurance fund (health cover rejected) + a rolling travel fund?

Hey folks, need some advice on where to park money for two very different goals.

First goal is a DIY health insurance fund for retirement. I can't get standard retail health insurance because of a mental health condition. I have cover through my employer for now. But I need a solid backup for later down the line.

The plan is to invest 15k every month into mutual funds until it hits 10L. Then I will just let it sit and grow. Any extra income or bonuses will go straight here first. It is my absolute top priority. What kind of funds should I look at for this long term horizon? My age is 31 now and I plan to work for 15-20 years. So I'll need this after 15 - 20 years.

Second goal is a travel fund for me and my partner. My partner will be putting in 40k every month. We will be withdrawing from this as and when we travel. Because of that, it needs to be highly liquid. Where should we park this money since the horizon is short term and rolling?

Would love to hear how you guys would plan this out. Thanks!

Bangalore folks, need a CA who doesn't ask for your portal password

Edit: Thanks everyone for your explanations. I understand now that my CA portal is not for ITR.

Had this issue with every CA so far. They ask for my income tax e-filing login and just file as if they're me. I was okay with this until I got to know that there's a proper way around this.

The portal has a My CA option under Authorised Partners. You add the CA by their membership number, assign specific forms, they file within that scope.

Looking for a CA in Bangalore who already works this way, or is happy to. Prefer someone I can sit with in person at least once.

If you've worked with someone like this, send me a name.

Car pulling left – Wheel alignment is perfect, what else could it be?

Hey everyone,

Got my Skoda Kylaq two weeks ago. After the first 100 km, I noticed the car consistently pulls to the left.

I took it to the service center and they did a full wheel alignment. They verified that the mechanical alignment and tire pressures are perfectly within spec, but the left pull is still exactly the same.

https://preview.redd.it/2kh740fbbk7h1.png?width=788&format=png&auto=webp&s=93e9354be3a3dcbc1ea62d39b3dbc4fc2214d6d4

Here is what is happening:

  • The steering feels very light.
  • If I let go of the wheel, it visibly turns to the left by a few degrees on its own after a short while.
  • I have to constantly pull it back tot he center to keep the car going straight.

Since the wheels are aligned perfectly, could this be an issue with the electric power steering calibration? Like the computer sensor thinking "center" is slightly to the left?

I am heading back to the service center today. Has anyone else faced this, and what should I ask the technicians to check?

Front arm rest fabric or leather in Prestige plus AT?

Just got the delivery of my prestige plus AT today and I just noticed that the centre armrest has fabric upholstery and not leatherette. When checked with the dealer, he says it’ll be of fabric only. Can someone please confirm?

Hey everyone,

I’m looking to start doing some DIY maintenance and need to put together a solid tool kit. I specifically need to deal with female hex (Allen) screws that are a bit deep-set.

I’m looking for recommendations on:

  1. A 1/2" Drive Torque Wrench: Something reliable for automotive/home use. Is Taparia good enough, or should I jump to Stanley/Bosch?

  2. A 1/2" Ratchet Wrench: For general unscrewing

  3. Male Hex Bit Socket Set: I need the male bits to fit into hex screw heads.

I’d like to buy the wrench and sockets as a set together and then a torque wrench separately.

Context:
• I want everything to be 1/2" drive so they are all cross-compatible.
• I'm looking for "Buy It For Life" quality but at a reasonable Indian price point.
• Are there specific reputable online sellers (besides Amazon/Flipkart) that I should check?

10-15 years, high risk tolerance, late 20s.

Same 5 funds in both portfolios, different weights:

Fund Person A Person B Household
Bandhan Small Cap 30% 25% 27.5%
PPFAS Flexi Cap 20% 30% 25%
UTI Nifty 50 20% 25% 22.5%
MO Midcap 150 20% 10% 15%
Gold BeES 10% 10% 10%

PPFAS and Nifty 50 overlap 39%. Combined we're putting 47.5% into these two funds.

Debating: should Person A swap Nifty 50 for Next 50? Person B keeps Nifty 50 as the household large-cap anchor. Best of both worlds?

Or is 39% overlap fine and we're overthinking it?
