it's still the shop mentioned in my previous post, keep this man at all cost. he asked me if I had a solder iron, I said no, he gave it too me and asked me if I was repairing electronics, said yes but I hadn't anything to solder so I was stucked before he gave it too me, he gave me this B&W radio TV. all that for free, when I entered in the shop he was already fixing a hi-fi speaker for a customer and didn't wanted any money from her

in what kind of alternative universe have I fallen into

I craved some good ol' cigarettes so I decided after some Super Mario Bros on my CRT to go buy a pack, walked a bit, bought the pack, walked back but decided to stop to my local "vintage" speakers focused store that opened maybe 6 months ago. it isn't even located on Google Maps. entered and asked the guy inside if he had any knowledge in CRTs to give me some advices about some slights adjustments needed for my TVs ; he didn't knew but after chatting a bit he asked me why was I interested in old TVs and stuff. I answered and chatted a little more, then he told me to follow him in the back of the shop where he had a LOT of old speakers, radios and all, and there were a small CRT. he asked me to clean it while he was continuing repairing one of his speakers, and told me to come back after it was done with the TV. I came back, he plugged it into the wall, it was perfectly working, he told me "take it", I was astonished, he packed it in plastic to walk with it without getting dirty and he really gave me this super cool Brandt CRT for free. I wasn't planning at all to get another TV but damn it was a marvelous stop-by. he even took my phone number to call me if he sees another CRT TV that could interest me while buying old speakers for himself.

I'll be back in his store to help him voluntarily, he never asked for anything or any service and I just want to volunteer to help his shop where I could learn a lot of things about analogic and electronic devices.

today was a unexpected good day

hi, I just found this display cable and I'm not sure if it's an official one AND if it's an RGB one. I found it while cleaning my consoles, some are from my father (the ps1) and I have a ps1 Namco lightgun that I think is where the cable come from. I'm in PAL region (France) and since it has a SCART out, I was thinking it was RGB. I tried it on my ps3 instead of my usual AV display cable from my ps2 and damn there's a huge difference in colors and quality. my ps3 was set in AV quality and when I was using an AV SCART adapter the image was the same, but when I plugged this display cable it was only showing Green until I changed the settings to SCART. the difference is noticeable on ps2 and ps3, haven't tested yet with my og ps1

even the sound is coming from my CRT so I'm not sure what are theses Left and Right composite cables for, and why there's a Video entry on the display cable. I'd really like to know everything someone would know about this cable, if I have a RGB cable at home for free for my CRTs I would be super happy

(sorry for the long video) I am in the middle of nowhere in France and I found this Thomson Black Diva 29DJ4E along with an old Telefunken colors CRT. the second one is flooded with spiders and stuff, it's probably busted considering the state of the place. but this Thomson was not in the same room and seemed very clean. it was plugged with an IR receiver and stuff, there's even the remotes. my question is, from the inside of the TV that I was able to record by unclipping the back of it, is it worth picking it up and bring it back to life? it's not my first crt but it's my first free CRT find and I'm not sure it'll power on and if it's busted. it was really dusty on the outside as seen on the videos but the inside is promising. it's not near by my own house, I'll have to drive with it a long way (hours and hours) to take it home because I'm currently living far away from home at my gf's place. do you think there's a good chance it's alive? it was staying here for at least 12 years, since the house was abandoned. I'm ready to service it but idk how far and how expensive it can cost me in this state, and ofc I'll have to plug it in to be sure of what to do.

on pic 1 there's Fist of the North Star : Lost Paradise on 0.16.0. I can't play the game, it'll show the loading animation in the background with this empty box. I can't press anything to skip it.

on pic 2 there's the same game on 0.15.0 and it's showing perfectly fine and disappear in seconds, the game is totally playable after that and every shadps4 pop-up is working, not showing as an empty box.

I am on a steamdeck 512gb oled with lot of free disk space. I tried the 0.16.0, I tried the pre-release, I tried shadps4 qt pre-release with 0.16.0 and pre-release and no success. is there anything I can do or do I stick to 0.15.0? I was hoping the update would make the game even more playable, it's fine with 0.15.0 but the fps aren't great in a lot of cases, it was worth a shot and I want to fix my problem if there's a solution! thanks for reading

I LOVE decky plugins, it's so freaking cool. last night I was scrolling through boot animations (my deck was fully serial experiments lain themed for animations) and then I saw this custom intro which I found very cool. I was already using Audio Loader plugin and I realized that the audio was starting during the boot animation, so I tried to sync both animation and music to match. it's not perfect everytime since it's not syncing the same way at every boot / switch to gaming mode, but it's pleasant enough for me! I don't plan making anything else to my animations, I'd love to sync perfectly the plugins but I don't know how to dev and don't want to use any AI. anyway, I hope you like it!!

I have a huge problem with my reddit app that started days ago, never happened before. I can't connect to reddit since I've been logged out with the latest update, Google login says We're unable to authenticate, email login says Incorrect password even when it's the good one and when I reset it in the app and then try the new one, I can't create an account either ("We have trouble" when putting the password). I've seen some users having success when rebooting their phone after cleaning cache and data, and me I'm getting a broken app that can't start and renaming itself + changing its icon. what can I do? it's the only app doing that, going with the official way and trying with old apks (even tried 2024 apk) or trying with devs/modding apps. I have a Samsung zflip 4 rooted.

days ago, I claimed that I hated my ips screens. this is somehow still true, but the more I go in depth for screen filters the more I start to appreciate them. gamma are really my saviors there and it would be perfect if we were able to change per-screen settings in DS mode, but I'm happy now the way it look after intensive research to get the best out of my setup. the 3ds is an insane console and everyone should cherish their console, it'll never be perfect and it's okay. after all, gaming consoles are for having fun, not for being picky asf for some details that doesn't matter. focus more on the games, focus less on the slightly blueish pixels that I was fighting against. I'm glad to have the chance to own a IPS 3ds, and I hope that everyone here is enjoying their console as much as possible. have a great 3ds day!
