Hey I just wanna say that in my 14 years on Reddit I’ve never seen a subreddit as fucking awful and moronic as this one. Congrats

Each time a post pops up on my feed from here I genuinely contract a bit of cancer reading whatever nonsense you retardants write.

genuinely befuddled by Adum’s rating for I Love Boosters

Spoiler Tag in case you really care, even though I’m not really spoiling plot elements

I thought it was MUCH worse than Sorry To Bother You, by a long shot. Almost every aspect of it was done better in STBY, from its satire of capitalism to its shot composition. I am actually shocked Adum gave this a positive rating because by the end of the film I was so disappointed.

I saw someone else on this sub talk about poor sound mixing at SIFF, which they must not have fixed because I couldn’t hear half the dialogue. And that’s not because of their Bay Area accents, of which there are many films I love that this accent is prevalent and easily understandable. No, the dialogue mixing was on par with a Nolan film.

Also the way a lot of this film was shot was amateurish. The action-y climax was so piss poor, none of it looked real (not in a heightened way). Anytime the claymation/stop-motion characters were on screen (especially in conjunction with the real actors) it took me out of the experience, it looked laughably bad.

The saving grace was the comedy, it’s a very funny movie. However Keke Palmer’s character wasn’t very interesting, and her confrontation with her friend Sade by the end of the film came out of nowhere. So there really was no emotional core to the film.

Also the ending was laughably cliched and predictable.
I think the fact that a Boots Riley film was predictable was the most unpredictable thing about it.

If you liked Sorry To Bother You, I would not bother with this one. It’s got the same themes, same heightened elements, just much more amateurish.

Curious to hear what you all have to say about it if you’ve seen it yet.

Genuine question, if anyone has any recommendations.

I’m rewatching for the first time in a while and even though it’s like my fourth time watching S1, it’s like watching a whole new show. The information you receive later (especially most of the S4’s reveals) completely changes how you view lots of scenes. It’s so much fun to watch! It’s so clear Sam knew not only the whole arc of the show, but placed little details he knew he would reference later.
