Happy Victoria Day!
Victoria reigned for so long ("Victorian Era") there are PLENTY of movies and a series about her. They may not be documentaries but they can help give some context to her life.
Some of my favorites are:
PBS Victoria Series (Three Seasons, also available on PBS Passport)
"Young Victoria" starring Emily Blunt
"Mrs. Brown" starring Dame Judy Dench
"Victoria and Abdul" starring Dame Judy Dench
I'm sure there are others (or ones where she makes an appearance, like Shirley Temple's "A Little Princess") but those four have been the most watchable in my opinion.
Happy Victoria Day!

youtu.be"The Moose Soir-EH" 5/9, "Canadiana Fest" 9/19 Kalamazoo
Tonight is the fundraiser and excitement booster for the Canadiana Fest (September 19!)
If you weren't aware, on Dec. 15, 2025 Canada passed Bill C-3, giving Canadian Citizenship to anyone with ANY Canadian ancestor. (Formerly limited to First Generation born abroad.) So if you are reading this you may already be Canadian! ( r/Canadiancitizenship is the sub helping people get their documentation together so they can be recognized by Canada officially. READ THE FAQS BEFORE POSTING!)
Although many of us Michiganders have a Canadian ancestor, you don't have to be Canadian in an official capacity to join in the love and fun of Canadian Culture! If you can't make it tonight you can still put the main event on your calendar!
"Wind-powered drones to be deployed on Great Lakes to help with surveillance"
I had hoped they misused the word "surveillance" , intending to mean "weather/current/temperature data collection" but no. They do mean surveillance as in watching where boats are going.
The Moose Soir-EH this Saturday in Kalamazoo, Michigan
If anyone is near Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA this Canadian Culture event is happening this Saturday at 5pm. It's a fundraiser and excitement booster for the Canadiana Fest September 19.
The organizer has been posting about Don Chapman and his book "The Lost Canadians" and musing about asking him to attend/present at Canadiana Fest. She's posted that she has some exciting news to announce at the Soir-EH and I feel like it's going to be related. (That or something Red Green related probably. Rick Green was at the 2nd Canadiana Fest and if I read the posts correctly, the Red Green Show is a premium sponsor of the event. Either way, I'm excited to hear what the announcement is and try some traditional Canadian foods and games!)
I'm getting a professional headshot and know nothing about make-up. Where can I go to get a professional makeup application?
I had THREE Orioles (including a female) fighting at my oranges this morning in Oshtemo. I've had nothing since that first guy April 11th.
Obviously there are other things in the 7 for 7 deal (like bags of yellow onions🧅, and potatoes 🥔...also good stock up items)
7 bags of oranges would have been $36.33 normally 👀
(He's not perfect, but his videos are a great launching point for understanding the geography and therefore the culture and history it effected in Canada)
